In Honor of Kepler Telescope

In honor of the seemingly lost Kepler telescope ... which gave us hope of "to explore strange new worlds ... " and eventually "...to seek out new life"

http://www.foxnews.com/science/2013/08/15/nasa-abandons-hope-for-failing-kepler-space-telescope/

I have commissioned a brand new Tac Vesta with the name of

U.S.S. Kepler
NCC 201308 (this month)

It is mission is to seek new(and old life) and destroy it. ... But in all seriousness it makes me sad what's happening to our real and beloved space program. First the space shuttle in museums and now this ...

I'm not ashamed to say I broke down and cried a little when I saw Endeavor. :(

Kepler Mk II or some other unmanned spacecraft will come out eventually with the ability to detect Earth-like planets orbiting distant stars. While it would have been nice if it lasted longer in working condition, it has done lots for the advancement of our space exploration. After all twenty years ago, we had no proof that solar systems are all that common. Now we know that the galaxy is full of solar systems that might carry life on some of those planets.

True. Before all these planetary systems were discovered I was skeptical that there could even exist a solar system with the right conditions ... habitability zone, rocky world, earth gravity. Now we know there may exist at least few candidates.

    :'(

At least it's not all lost, it seems like there's a lot that can still be done with it. :(

    It's a shame.

Who knows what it may have found....

they could likely fix that but making bombs to blow each other up is way more important to humanity

Maybe it will fall into a magnetic anomaly and reappear 400 years later.

Actually.... The impresion I got is that it can still reorient itself, just not with the precision needed to find exoplanets. Only 2 of it's 4 gyros failed.... but... this makes me wonder how long those will last....
