Elachi consoles and weapons. I am looking for advice and feedback.
These are not complaints just observations, hopefully this information can go toward having these items looked into or help you make a decision on whether to buy them. I am at the no no no stage and would like to be at the buy buy buy stage. I hate to make issue. I love the direction the developers have taken with this lockbox set. The artwork, the creativity, the factionless console. Its great times in STO lately and I hope the trend continues as these additions look to be direct feedback from listening to the player base.
Mobosh pets
I was interested in obtaining the Mobosh to complete the 2 piece console set for my Elachi escort. I talked to a very nice fellow who let me know what the pet cooldown resummon was (3 mins). He was then nice enough to launch his pets to show me how they launch from his Mobosh (pretty cool). He even went the extra mile and we went into a duel so I could see how they preformed.
Weak hulled and often buggy...
They barely moved just sit there, easy to nail them with volleys from my unbuffed Romulan Hyper plasma torp. (unbuffed as in no speed increase space set) They just sat there and ate them and that says a lot being how slow they are. However, they did very well against the hyper plasma torp, 6 torps (two volleys) took them down to about 33% hull left. Energy weapons are a different story, can shread them in one volley (plasma dhc, tet glider), I realize my escort is powerful but I think even the wing platforms on my Andorian ship held up better but could be me. He commented that the borg ate them like candy, but admitted to being new to the ship and only a few fights. On recall they poof and set your 3 minute timer running, cloak makes them poof (soon cloak to be removed I hear though).
They just seemed to float around a lot and do nothing then again lots of pets do this. The control one seemed to only viral matrix me when the fight first started and maybe once long long after. They also shoot beams but very intermittent, granted he might have been not firing or something. They are not horrible but a 3 min cooldown is way way too long for how long they survive and for how much they actually fight when they are out. If they kept them the way they are I would suggest the cooldown be reduced to 45 seconds, the same as the aceton assimilator seeing as you can have two of those out at any given time as well. Sure the pets die faster than an aceton assimilator but at least you might get a free heal and a viral matrix from them before they croak. Waiting 3 minutes in a new stf for your pets because you just launched them in the stf you completed is not fun either, I know because I have the Andorian escort which has the same sort of long timer for its wing cannon platforms, and its rather annoying. For what they do if left untouched 45 seconds should be fine.
Heavy Crescent Wave Cannon (lobi store)
Basically the added disruptor damage of the two piece set (7.6% disruptor damage) "might" make up for the fact that a purple Mk XII dual heavy cannon off of the market would give about equal damage to the lobi wave cannon. Even taking into consideration that the bonus applies to all disruptor weapons and they are preforming better, its still a net loss for the slot the lobi cannon is in. Perhaps changing its damage to 405.3 to match dual heavy cannon specs and changing from 60% crit severity to +10 accuracy + 2% crit chance + 40 crit severity, basically [acc] [crth] [crtd]x2. would be good.
Elachi Subspace Torpedo Launcher
Probably the most useless of the set, equip it to up your defense with haywire (if you have the 3 piece set) but totally gimp your dps no mater which boat you fly. (lets face it, on an escort I would stick it in the rear for the 3 piece, losing a turret) As stated in other threads even tricobalt would do better and few people use even those (for good reason). Perhaps cooldown lowered to 8 seconds, 180 deg firing arc (to match the wave cannon), change it to disruptor dmg, +10 accuracy, 2% critical, +20 crit severity (again to match the wave cannon) People would get real interested in the lobi store real quick and it is on par with it's $50 +/- price tag.
Two piece set bonus for Subspace transceiver+ Crescent Wave Cannon
The bonus is not bad its just rather..plain.
(no frontal shields offline on Crescent Wave cannon use)
Bio Neural infusion circuits
This one seems fine, I like it, accept here we are again with the Crit Severity and no critical chance. They should realize that if you kit out your ships with all 4 Elachi modules, you have no room for any Borg assimilated console or Tachyokinetic conveter or any sort of way to increase your crit chance beyond skill. Unless you want to be left with only 1 sci console, or you gimp yourself a tac slot. With all this crit severity and no way to crit, its kind of on the pointless side.
subspace integration circuit
Really cool! Neat fx too, great concept but most mobs just happily fly away from it
Its okay if you can land a gravity well. This one seems fine, its on par with Tyken's rift, just need to add control. The important part here is if tractor beam last long enough to keep a mob in tow while the integration circuit does its thing (untested) because there is a boom boom at the end, then its viable for anything with a tractor.
I would like to get some feedack from some Mobosh pilots in what they think. My tests were very brief with a nice guy who let me have a look-see, but it was enough to put me off from completing my set and rethinking my plans to steal its console for my escort. These are not hard core tests and might not even be accurate in how the pets perform.
How do you like the ship?
How do you like the pets it comes with?
What do you think of the lobi store Elachi space items? (those that own them)
As an aside, how do you fly this ship without at least a Lt. Commander Sci?
I would have went for this ship had it had one. I guess I don't understand the concept of a single commander ship with no Lt. Commander and a bunch of ensigns and LT.
Swap one of those LT. Universals with a Lt. commander Universal or Lt. Commander Sci static and I can see some possibilities. I just don't see the viability without it or at least adding a hanger to it, or maybe I am blind.
Comments
The Battleship itself is brilliant, and I might go as far to say with some confidence that it is the best Cruiser in the game. Most fed tactical cruisers lack a LtC Sci (Fleet Assault, Fleet Excelsior) and a LtC Sci skill is not really up their street. The extra slot would be better served by making a layout with HE, TSS and PH. There is room for an A2B layout with RSP2 and DEM3, and enough tac slots for APO. Topped off with the great shield mod and turn rate, what more could you want? (Other than not such an ugly ship of course)
A small addition. It almost has the same layout as the FAC but +3 turn rate while losing some hull (around 3K) but compensates that a bit with +.1 shield mod.
Next to that it has the abbility to carry cannons, which where the +3 turn comes in handy.
But here comes the best part..
Where the FAC has the ensign tac the Monbosh has a Lt. tac seat. That makes it possible to do something like this.
Cmdr. Eng
EPtS 1, A2B 1, EPtS 3, DEM 3
Lt. Cmdr. Tac
TT 1, APB 1, APO 1
Lt. Tac (uni)
BO 1, CSV 1
Lt. Eng (uni)
Eng Team 1 (emergency repairs), A2B 1
Ensign Sci
HE 1 (clear nasty stuff of your hull)
That comined with a set of Romulan plasma weapons or Polarized Disruptors.. *drools*
The reason why I mentioned BO1 is because I like to run cannons build with 1 dual beam bank just for this very specific skill. The spike dmg is nice, especially when it crits.
But something like THY 1 could work there aswell.
Now you can also easily replace the cannons for beam arrays and replace the CSV 1 with BFAW 2.
Edit: I've just opened 70 boxes without getting a ship, so I'm saving all the lobi crystals now to get one.
Honestly, the purpose of the torp, it seems, is to be the ship disabling torp, and IMO that's the only department where it really needs major buffing.
And why change it to disruptor damage? It's a torpedo...
