If anyone haven't get the maurader cruiser today (Aug 16), please grind and get it pronto. free gift is free gift!
Anyway, I am wondering what are the usage of maurading force and maurading carrier? I already have elite scorpion and a Advanced Frigate, and with a hull differences of only 4500, when should I use the Maurader Force/carrier?
The marauding force works pretty much the same as the engineering ability where you launch shuttles to attack the enemy ship and kill crew, disturm cooldowns, etc. The only difference is it doesn't take a bridge officer slot to do it.

Well they are fighter pets who will also beam to the target and try to shutdown random systems. They aren't particularly good fighters, and random shutdowns dont do any damage (at best they help you do more damage with something else), so the utility of the ships isnt particularly high compared to other pets that actually do significant amounts of damage. I'm sure they annoy the heck out of the target, but everything about the game is about taking the enemy's hull to zero, and if something doesnt help with that then its probably just in the way. They might be helpful with a sci ship that was doing CC, then the shutdowns would make it easier to kill them with gravwell and the like, but that's a different thing.
The cruiser itself seems pretty nice, and with some damage dealing pets it will probably be worth flying.
So how useful is it for PvP? That's the only time I see it being viable.
PVP usage for Marauding Force is very hard to do. The problem is the sheer abundance of Tac Team running by everyone, which will clear it. The only tactic I can see that will make it work is a SubNuc'ed / DOFF'ed Scramble Sensored target that then gets hit by Marauding Force.
