I don't know what the reasoning is behind it (other than a true celebration for the success of the Summer event/LoR releases - crazy I know!! 
), but I just wanted to say Thank You to our talented Dev team and everyone at Cryptic involved in the Summer Giveaway blast!!
The items have been very cool and totally unexpected.
From the awesome LoR addition, to the fun Risa event, and now an out of the blue 'appreciation' giveway - Thank You for all the hard work making STO so much fun to play!

This way they can get people for buy more ships, characters and collect more lockboxes (more Inventory slots) that can be opened when players can afford to buy keys.
I ,for one, am a ship collector and find it hard to give up ships to get new ones, even the C-Store ships. Also I like to have a large collection of BOffs and DOffs that are tuned for the different ships. I have deleted very few Lockboxes in the hope that someday I can still get ANOTHER ship, like the D'Kora for my Ferengi character, from lockboxes that are no longer offered.
But I guess it is supposed to work the other way around to where Ships, for example, are supposed to drive the purchase of more Ship slots. I dunno, try giving away slots, Cryptic, and see what happens!

I will make use of the outfits. I been wanting the DS9 and had plans to buy in the future. As for the command shirt. I will use it in the future when I decide on how/when to use it.
The shuttles, can you do more missions in the future. So I can get more use on them. Other than just around 2 missions. That way it gives me a chance to really use them. This is why I been hesitating on buying one. Due to lack of missions to justify the purchase.
The science ships. I don't have an Sci Captain, but I do have plans in the future to do one. Once I get done with my 4 Captains I have now. I claimed them to put into storage so I can when the time comes.
Now I wait for the Friday gift. So far this been pure awesome!

I felt so sorry for Brandon. He was repeating himself numerous times to players on how to claim the freebies. This goes to show that people do not read and take stock of things.
Brandon also recieved some quite nasty comments about himself, that I felt compelled to have to defend Brandon.
The first two days I was unlucky and wasn't able to claim anything, but the way I looked at it, it is like lock boxes, sometimes your lucky (like some have been with the new Elatchi boxes) and sometimes your no so lucky.
PWE / Cryptic quite frankly had no reason to do this freebie week at all, but they did because despite what some may think, they do actually appreciate and care for the players. STO is the ONLY MMO I have ever played longer than a day. I only had originally decided that I would try it, but had already made my mind up that I was sure to run into another player that would be aggressive towards me being new. But knocking on for two years now, and I am still here.
Taking into account all the negativity from the beginning of the week, it would be truely understandable if they DON'T do a freebie give away again.
Probably would have been much quicker to just level a KDF loyal Rom.
HUGE thanks again for the free stuff, and looking forward to the next winter event.
I think many ppl highly underestimate how difficult it must have been for you to realize this weeks gifts for STOs players.
Its the bitter sweet thing.
Release a lockbox that has stuff that fundamentally destroy's what tiny bit of balance was left in PvP. But its all ok, we have free stuff that no one really wanted in the first place, hence its free.
Everyone is suddenly not bothered by the server instability, UI bugs, DOff bugs, Skills bugs, graphics bugs, sound bugs, mail bugs and all the other bugs in the game.
I just Wanted to Thank CRYPTIC for this whole week of gifts ! Thank you Devs, and especially Thank You Brandon, for realizing these Freebies for EVERYBODY !
I ALWAYS Am Waiting for more CONTENT, because CONTENT is what this awsome game needs next ! I Hope one of the Devs takes the time of reading through these thank-you-notes, and they agree ( AND make happen) for more CONTENT !
I Know this game had to be build from scratch in very little time, but you CRYPTIC, you made this awsome game possible for all the Star Trek-Fans outthere ! We Are with Millions, and Our numbers keep growing year by year !!!!!!! Don't you forget CRYPTIC, lol, and I Hope Star Trek Online Will Survive as an MMO ( please concentrate more on PvP, and new CONTENT) for many years to come !
