Community Ker'rat PvP Space War Event - August 15th - 2 Timeslots (BST and PDT/EDT)

pwebranflakespwebranflakes Member Posts: 7,741
Hi Captains!

I am organizing an in-game (Holodeck) Community Ker'rat PvP Space War Event for this coming Thursday.

The first timeslot will be at 8pm BST/ Noon PDT/ 3pm EDT. (Click here to view in your timezone)

The second timeslot will be at 5pm PDT/ 8pm EDT/ 1am BST. (Click here to view in your timezone)

Let's plan to meet in sector space at the Ker'rat System in Donatu Sector of the Eta Eridani Sector Block. From there, we'll enter the zone. Feel free to attend with a character on either faction. We'll try and do as many matches as possible for one full hour. Please join the OrganizedPvP channel to see any communication/ instructions from myself.

If you can't make it Thursday, I would like to try and do these often, and on different days/ times. Feel free to post constructive feedback in here with ideas, including if you would like to see this expanded to other types of events (Social, STFs, PvE, Foundry, Fleet Actions etc.).

I hope to see many of you on Thursday!

Cheers,

Brandon =/\=

Any chance of that happening? Or even a future event?

    I will be there!

...could you pass along my desire to have a "Enter on opposite faction" button added? :) I always loved using the Red Fed bug because there are more feds, and most don't cloak. But now the bug is dead. :(

Anyway, I look forward to the event! :)
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

Sorry but I can't make it either time. I have to work.

    Best alternate times would be:
    Any time on weekends
    Early mornings (5am-9am PDT) weekdays
    Late night (8pm-10pm PDT) weekdays

Yeah and what happens when nobody gets into the same zone? When a few get into the right zone mixed with people that don't want to fight and others get into a zone with nobody in it? It's not like we can even switch zones in kerrat anyway. wouldn't it be better to just form private matches at least you can get two teams of ten who are there to pvp. What about when the map resets whenever people decide to do the mission. AHHH need i go on? I appreciate you trying to set something up pvp wise but this will not work out well i cant even get into the same zone as one friend half the time.

Ker'rat seems to have tried up a bit now that KDF can't spawn camp anymore, would be fun to attend. That and Romulan Cloaks seems to have evened out somethings.

Well, I'm dead. Metaphorically, of course. I mean, I'm stuck with Rare Reman Impulse Engines/Covariant Shield, a Jem'Hadar Deflector Dish, MK XI Plasma weapons, and a bunch of almost random MK XI consoles. Meanwhilst, everyone else has super-duper Borg technology, and I get obliterated almost instantly. So, I tend to stay away from PVP (Especially with those accursed new Scimitars), but I suppose I'll try to get to this Event.

I'll give you a piece of advice:

If you know you are playing above your punching weight; play for the fun of it - know you'll get blown up, that your attacks will not be a potent - Play simply because you want to and don't worry about winning or losing

Use kerrat as a learning experience - if you can fly an imperfect ship in kerrat and survive then you have an horrendous advantage when you get all the gear as those procs, those bonuses...they will be the icing on the cake that is your own skill, as opposed to many I feel have skill as the icing of a cake made of lucky procs and set equipment bonuses

It's a bit hard to have fun when you can easily get obliterated in approximately 5 seconds. It doesn't really leave much time to have fun.

Also, Battle cloaks are a bit overpowered, as I've just experienced.

Actually, if this follows the footsteps of previous Community Events, there won't be any prizes. The only reward is fun.

Burstorion makes an excellent point, to which I would add this: I'm not sure if I achieved it yet or not but I have discovered that it is better, more effective and quite fun, to be an excellent captain, in a medicore ship, than to be a mediocre captain in an excellent ship. Surviving pvp in a medicore ship takes skill, not equipment. Anyone can buy equipment, just go to the exchange or the C-store, but only experience can grant skill. Whereas pvp is always unpredictable, due to the human element, it is therefore the best place to gain experience. I actually got fairly good at transfering power to shields, hitting evasive maneuvers, dropping mines and plasma and using auxillary power to structual integrity (I don't use those confusing acronyms when posting) activating appropriate batteries and other bridge officer skills and trying to survive as long as possible so my teammates could attack as unmolested as possible until I was destroyed (which often wasn't all that long) and when I wasn't being pounded, I tried to increase my weapon power and add it where it would do the most good (sometimes just destroying mines or pesky fighter clearing or finishing something off) Sometimes just continuing to fire on a klingon ship can prevent some types ( I learned which ones) from cloaking, if nothing else. Have fun. That's the object of the excercise.

One word of warning: If you captain a Galaxy ship, prepare to be pounded on regularly for being "squishy" looking. One of my ultimate goals is to get a (reputed to be) "squishy" yet servicable Tier 5 ship and equip it with all the best consoles and gadgets to try and make it tough and reasonably damage producing; so I can see the message: "so-and-so was destroyed by "me", in the zone/combat chat window more often than the other way around, and to be in the top half of the heal/damage tally at the end of the scenario. I'll consider myself a good captain if I can keep my Galaxy "afloat" until my teammates can come to my rescue and I can significantly contribute to team damage output as well. Not neccesarily just a tank or an escort, more a generalist "man for all seasons" captain

yeah lets have event that re-spawn's us all over every 3 minutes ? and puts us all over the place why not have an event there in Ker'rat before it was broken and reduced in size and can't see where anyone is past or less than 30k but i can see other stuff easy , but not other players ? Whats up with the invisible wall on half the planet that sure helps if combat goes a little bit by the planet the fun stops when you hit invisible wall wee , do all planets have cool invisible walls on them? lets have event in a completed Ker'rat would be more fun for All !! also why when you got safe re-spawn points now why am i beamed into the middle of borg ? and why don't they fire at me ? they only fire at you at 9.99 k away is weird but not sooner, not the best place for event since it looks silly compared to what it looked like before with bigger and better more realistic borg graphics , not just the foo foo pretty colors and explosions. Also why do plasma balls from borg Explode before they actually hit me 100% of the time there like .2k away before they explode half the time i am getting away and they still explode is that the correct way borg actually fired in trek .. not !! lots needs fixing before Ker'rat can be what it was and to holding an event now sounds fun but ... Its for like mostly ony for noobs and the old warriors there that hold it together every single day in combat not just hey wow ker'rat lets do something like event 1 time a year there lmao good luck i will swing by to lookl laugh and shoot the lame so they leave faster haha :)

You could argue about every little bug, error and booboo or you can just enjoy life and don't pull so heavy about such things.

    Have Fun and Prosper :P

What's the point? You release a patch, and most people end up with EXTREMELY slow patching and downloading speed. BST players are pretty much screwed if they aren't ingame already.
