Strange Speed Boost in Combat

Now this is a weird one: Sometimes when I'm in combat (usually ESTFs) I notice that my normally "slow as molasses" Fleet AHCR is moving faster than should be possible in a non-Evasive flight mode. For example, my normal movements speed is about 24 courtesy of the Borg Assim. Engines Mark 12. And when aux2bat kicks in, I often find myself cruising along at closer to 30.

But every once in a while I sense that I'm moving much quicker than normal. At these times I check the "throttle" tooltip and it reports that I'm doing around 54.

Note: This is WITHOUT engaging EM, which would normally put my flight speed well over 100. I'm also not using APO-anything -just APA3, APB1 and EPtS/W (not EPtE).

So...why the heck does my ship take off like a rocket sometimes and then crawl like a turtle in other instances? There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it, and all my attempts to reproduce the behavior outside of ESD have resulted in me hitting the aforementioned "30" but nothing higher (unless I engage EM).

Anyone have an idea why it's "off to the races" in the middle of combat? Could the Leech be affecting things? Something else combat-related that can't be reproduced outside ESD?

I would love to know how I'm doing this so I could try to reproduce it deliberately when possible.

    Are you running a WCE doff? I run one on my cruiser (Same ship as yours) and when I was using Aux2Batt it would max my engine power which a set of hyper engines like yours would strongly benefit from (mine are elite fleet combats which I need to move up a power range to get the most from). Another option is the Jemmy carrier console, other than that I can't think of anything.

    WCE? Not familiar with that acronym.

    FWIW, I'm running 3x Tech Doffs (Purple), 1x SDO Doff (Blue), and Dlyrene (Purple WF Specialist - Borg).

    Must be the Leech then, because I'm noticing I'm often in the 30+ ranges when firing at stuff - plus, my engines get totally pegged vs. just mildly so from aux2bat alone.

    Anyway, it's a nice side effect. :)

    Where there any jem'hadar ships in your stf ?? They can use a special team console.
    Fleet Maneuver Gamma

    Damage Buff, Movement Buff, Immunities

    +10% Damage for 15 sec
    +40% Flight Speed strength for 15 sec
    +40% Flight Turn rate for 15 sec
    Immunity to Confuse, Placate, Flight Speed Debuffs, and Turn Rate Debuffs for 15 sec

    Yeah I also experience this extra speed now and then, and it started shortly after I got the Plasmonic Leech, may be that? Although bones1970 seems a more likely cause. Have to keep an eye open for that

    Warp core engineer, chance to increase all power levels by 20/25 (haven't looked in a while) when EPtX is activated (lasts 10 seconds)

    You don't run Marion with DEM? Also, I would suggest asking someone who owns the Jem dread if they would be willing to help you look into that option as I know it gives +speed, +turn and +dmg. I can't figure it being the leech as that is up all the time you have a target so if that was the cause it would be a rather more permanent thing.

    There's also the captain trait, that on use of EPtX grants +10 or something power too.

    Can't afford to spend that much time grinding. It took forever to get Dlyrene at 8.3M. Marion at 25M or more is just nuts... :(

    So glad I got Marion when he was cheap, I paid 5 mil for him
