Borg Kinetic Cutting question

Does the Borg Kinetic Cutting Beam Mk XII [Dmg]x3 with its 360 fire arc behave like turret? Does it fire at your primary target or fire at everything at in sight all on its own?

The reason I ask ever since I put one on my ship I seem to be attracting a huge amount of agro.

Judging by the animation, anyway, it fires where your primary target was when you hit spacebar. If your target is a fast-mover, you at least get the appearance of your cutting beam's long firing cycle going out into open space.

Also, it's completely useless unless you target somehing with a facing shield down.

It works like a turret, minus being affected by any boff powers.

I also think I read somewhere that it draws from AUX power. Not that it matters much. The power drain is negligible and most of us have plenty to spare.

No, it draws normal weapons power.

The Kinetic Cutting Beam Array MkXII [Dmg]x3 does not drain AUX power it (as other weapons do) utilizes WEAPON power (10 if i remember correctly), Locks on your current target, Is a 360 deg firing weapon (much like a turret but with more Damage and DPS), and in my opinion (for PvErs) is a suitable replacement for a torpedo, I like it! When it hits a target it can deal up to 1.5-1.7k damage (with maximum weapon power)

I SWEAR I heard that somewhere on this board, but I may be in error. *shrug*

Definitly weapon power, targets your target. Not boosted by anything besides high weapon power. Huge improvement over a turret

it's an excelent replacment for a turret or a beam array aft
it's boosted by Wpower EPTW and anything that boost all damage (think APA and APO)
Keep in mind it deals kinetic damage so shields reduce it to a laugable level, but most STF targets are unshielded or have shields only for a short time so that's less of an issue
Also keep in mind the proc bonus with the console or the borg torp

Although this makes sense ... seriously? Useless?

no it's an exaggeration, torpedoes do significantly less damage against a shielded target and with the KCB also dealing kinetic damage it suffers the same, however it still benefits from the set bonus(2.5% chance bonus wep power and power drain resist on all energy weapons) as well as the combination with the assimiated tractor beam

    - kinetic (against normal shield): 10% to shields, 10% to hull, 80% absorbed
    - kinetic (against resilient shield): 10% to shields, 5% to hull, 85% absorbed

Don't forget it's pretty usefull against destructable torpedoes.
