Since I do not play neverwinter I must ask. what do you mean? like the already in place exchange?
NW use Astral Diamond which is similar to the dilithium. And gold as EC.
Almost every items is bought from AD, including AH transaction. Gold is useless.
It's an obvious money sink to have people buy less zen, as they need the currency for their day to day shopping.

So, no, I don't want that.
so you dont want that because it will force you to buy less zen ...wtf.
Based on the auction house in Neverwinter will be getting a exchange (Auction house) that uses dilithium?
To some extent the game already has that because you can buy things with Zen and sell them for ECs - and then use the ECs to buy other things on the Exchange.
As was pointed out above, though, most of the good grind items in STO are account-bound, meaning you can't sell them on the Exchange. So really you're generally left selling normal drops and Lockbox drops to earn EC. So there's not a huge demand to buy things on the Exchange directly with Dilithium.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Sounds like the OP has a ton of Dil and no EC to buy whatever he wants on the Exchange.
Changing would make EC completely worthless and push STO firmly into the Pay-to-Win category since all it takes to get Dil is a credit card and the Dil <-> Zen exchange.

how?
you sell something ( lets say for the sake of example that we still have tradeable items lol )for dilithium (ecs are extinct) ,you will get 4000 dilithium and you also refine 8000 per day, that means you got 12,000 dilithium in that day by first playing the game then selling your loot.If you will trade (trading is a non violent way of playing a game...star trek was not only about pew pew) you will get more dilithium with less zen.
thing is this cant happen because there is nothing left to trade other than keys and lockbox items. In neverwinter you get loot you can value and trade ,in sto everything people would want (other than keys) is locked in fleets .If they make a fleet holding for tac consoles they may aswell remove the exchange because people will use master keys as barter currency.
There is a reason I never used the market in Neverwinter..
Using a 'time-based currency' for player transactions was an absolutely horrid idea that completely depreciated a character's individual wealth. Despite it's reputation, Energy Credits DO have value in STO and keep the economy of the game running.

The exchange is still VERY healthy as my site shows.
Don't forget everything used from level 0 to 45 that only a fool would waste dilithium to buy for themselves.
PWE/Cryptic would be stupid to remove EC from the game, people buy things with Zen like keys or ship modules to sell for EC so they can buy things off the exchange they need or want. Free players buy those items and paid players provide them, If the free players could not buy them with EC that makes less zen sold. Yes there is the Dilithium exchange but free players use that to get zen to buy things that are account bound, If dilithium is the main currency then the dilithium exchange will crumble because free players will start hording dilithium. Remove 1 of those 2 and there will be far less zen purchased.

lockbox ships ,lobi ships ,lobi costumes are not loot .You can price these for keys and barter.
particle traces and artefacts are for lol crafting.Remember that crafting is useless .Except tac consoles everything is in fleet bound and not tradeable.
Duty officers are in fleets same with kits.
lower level loot is not important since you can level up a toon from 1 to 50 in a weekend or a day if you really spend some time.
A dilithium based exchange is not a good idea. You don't want people duping currency which is closely associated with real world currency. Look how long Cryptic took to fix the NW exchange exploit. It already happened here, luckily the duping was in EC instead.

its refined dilithium not normal dilithium. You are limited to 8000 per day nomatter what you do.If you buy it you will buy from someone who is limited aswell. This will have no impact on things other than making ec useless....which will happen sooner or later once they add tac consoles to fleets.
if they dont make more items tradeable ec will get useless and people will use master keys .Exchange will get useless as people will start to barter keys for whatever stuffs they want ...that happens because keys are like real life gold ,they will always keep their value about the same .

The limit is 8k per character, not per account. I routinely make and refine between 15-20k daily by using more than 1 character.

I see no one complain getting that for zen ,I dont see the problem in a normal exchange.Thats the basis of this f2p game. Some people are not you and dont have time to grind for that many toons.

I do that in 2-3 hours. I don't play any longer then what most people do, whether using only 1 character or multiple characters. The time played is the same. Someone can play 3 hours and make 8k or someone can play 3 hours and make 20k. They don't have to be me.

I only play pvp and barely get 8000 per day so yes ,not everyone is you.
People dont complain for dili for zen exchange there is no QQ reason for dili for items exchange.
I wouldn't mind if in addition to EC you could post things to the exchange for dilithium. I wouldn't want to see EC be discontinued, but other options for other currencies... sure... why not.
For that matter I would support the addition of all currencies to the exchange... (Fleet Marks, Dilithium, EC, GPL, Fleet Credit). All player controlled pricing (as it is today).
So you have 3 JHAS posted, maybe 1 for EC (400Million), but another posted for 1 Million Dilithium, or 3 Million Fleet Credit (number are all made up). I did the math once (based on Keys) that tracked 3 as foreign currencies with exchange rates etc...
The problem comes when people sell items on the exchange for dilithium, would cause the dil to zen market to crash... the devaluation of the dil would be almost immediate. So the F2P crowd would end up having to grind for much more longer amounts of time to convert Dil (at 8k per day) to sufficient Zen to purchase anything.

Would be interesting to watch however.
or would make people to trade.Star Trek is not all about fighting other ships ,trading is a part of it .It would make ferengies have a purpose lol
btw I like the marks idea.It would allow people to sell their grinded stuffs and put value on work.

Your argument is that such a Dilithium Exchange will not be a problem or exploitable because people are limited to 8k in refined Dilithium. My point is that it will be a problem because thousands of people playing the game don't only play 1 character and so aren't limited to the 8k. If you have 50k players making 20k per day it's easy to exploit a Dilithium Exchange.

I never asked for EC or the EC exchange to be killed off but I think a Dilithium based exchange would be a good addition to the game.
As I mentioned above, you can already grind Dilithium, trade it for Zen, buy items like Master Keys with the Zen, sell those Keys on the Exchange for ECs, and then use the ECs to buy other things on the Exchange. Thus you can already "buy" things on the Exchange for Dilithium, just not instantly.

it would finally give some value for your stuffs.THing is theres no economy left. They made all stuffs bound on character and exchange exists only for lockbox stuffs.

Their version fo the exchange uses Astral Diamonds instead of money.
