I am very interested to see what is going to be released.*sighs*
Of course, I'm brand new to the game, and chances are I'm not going to be eligible for most of what you are releasing.
But, that being said, I'd like to thank you for doing this for Star Trek fans, and I can only hope that someday you guys have an event just like this that I'll be able to participate in.

This sucks. People have paid real money for z-store items and now your giving them away! I'm just glad I haven't bought anything from the z-store since f2p. I think I will give this a miss, at least my principles will remain intact.

Hello. I'm a somewhat new beginner. Only been playing for a couple of months. I'm a free-to-play player and I mostly do this game on the side. That said, I noticed some things, like for example the master key, are needed to get into the lock boxes. Currently, there are three ways to do this, buy Zen, exchange dilithium or energy credits on the exchange. Well, unfortunately I am free-to-play for a reason and getting enough dilithium(13,625-14,250 depending on the exchange rate just for one key) to continually keep opening lock boxes is rather..... exhausting considering I only play this game a couple of hours a day and not even consistently. And the exchange costs at least a few million.

And I know there are more than a few people in my predicament. I guess what I'm getting at is I have an idea for you. One day during this event, or perhaps just a special one-day event sometime in the future, have a free "all-you-can-claim" master key giveaway. Limit it at say, 200 keys and make every key given out that day bind on pickup so players aren't tempted to just horde them and then sell them on the exchange market for outrageous amounts of energy credits.

Don't get me wrong, I am not unhappy with the giveway and I am not trying to look a gift horse in the mouth. I am just merely suggesting a proposal. Chances are, I'll be trying to log in at least once every day of this event just so I can get all the goodies. Like I said, I only play part time so the really good goodies are hard to come by and I currently have about two hundred lock boxes sitting in my bank, hoping I get enough dilithium for the keys since I'll never get all the energy credits, lol.

Anyway, like I said, I will be enjoying the giveaway and I just wanted to present an idea for you to consider.

    Thanks.

    Cool.

Chances are I have everything already but even if that's the case, im happy others can pick up some items.

Interesting Statement that this can be done so easily.

    Note to self.

If ever more than 10 items start switching to "Claim" and the amout of said 0 Zen items keep increasing per day or week with no word from PWI, start claiming "Abandon Ship... the sky is falling" because the game is be moments from closing!

    For real?

    What's the catch?
Is this only a certain hour?
Limited until a number of claims?

    Anyways, thanks!! :)

Anything from c-store is a bonus.

Curious what counts as an eligible character? Hope it's not level 5 on reputation because I am not there yet.

Thank you, great surprise. I wonder how many complain threads there will be about missing a certain day's reward...

Basically what I said. I am sure there will be some players who will find something to moan about this great give away.

If some players miss out on something cool, they will end up blaming Cryptic for missing out, and not themselves for not logging in.

Oh, and the items get progressively higher in value throughout the week (Example: Monday, costume; Friday, ship) :)

    Cheers,

    Brandon =/\=

If it's a costume available to both factions, there are only a handful of options there:

    Academy uniforms.
    Mercenary uniforms.
    Formal wear.
    Vedek robes.
One of the Lobi outfits (unlikely).
    Something new (unlikely).

Though it would be nice for the Worf baldric and hair/beard options to return. Those weren't included in the TNG S1 bundle and so my newer characters don't have them.

Of these, my bet would be formal wear or merc set.

Though I'd be pleasantly surprised if something new to players got bundled in like the ambassador jacket strap some NPCs and Spock have.

And on the days (yes, days plural!) that we're giving away a ship, there will be a KDF ship and Fed ship (you'll need to claim each on the appropriate, eligible character). So, there will actually be more than 5 ;)

There seems to be some confusion regarding my statement above, so I just want to make sure it's clear :) Please note the "on the days that we're giving away ships..." part. As in, if it's not a ship (Monday's costume, as an example), it will be one item only for one faction. In Monday's example, Federation.

    Cheers,

    Brandon =/\=

Wow, this is pretty exciting. At least one costume day and two ship days? That's pretty incredible.

I imagine the ships will be Tier I through Tier IV, which is kind of perfect--those are ships I'd never buy myself, but having additional options at those tiers (especially Tier I) and the consoles from them will be useful.

    I'm looking forward to this.

Hmm, that's somewhat disappointing. However, there isn't much in the way of costumes to give away KDF-side anyway, so I imagine that's the reason.

So thats 1 day fed, 1 day KDF, and 3 days both? Or 2 day fed, 2 day KDF, and 1 day both?

Either way those who only have 1 faction will not get more than 5 items and could get significantly less than 5 if fed or kdf has 1 more day.

"Monday's costume" You keep repeating that, either you are trolling everyone into expecting a costume on monday or you are saying "example" to apease the boss. Keep it up as i enjoy the speculation lol.

Regardless, thanks for the free goodies regardless how it rolls out, but I hope it is even amongst the 2 sides. There is enough fed gets blah blah blah rants already. making the freebies favor fed would turn customers away. But then again fed only players do get entitlment issues too and will raise up the pitchforks if it is balanced towards the KDF...

Seriousy, the mere thought of offering a week of free giveaways for the sake of us who play just warms the heart. STO rocks!

The only reason the company would do this is to maximize their profits by giving away lower tier ships to encourage people to buy fleet modules/higher tier ships to use the lower consoles or give away non-selling items like racing uniforms or DS9 uniform bundles as promotional material.

Don't get me wrong, getting free stuff is always nice and we can adress a "thank you" to whomever is is responsible, but depicting it as a purely altruistic sentiment is a little bit naive / borderline delusional :D

    One question:

If we already have the free item, will there be a secondary pick?

For example, if we have the offered ship already, could we get a Fleet Module instead, so we could buy the Fleet Ship?
    No.

    Cheers,

    Brandon =/\=

Okay, this one made me laugh... now that is a clearly stated answer :D

So you get the ship as 'buying' it from the z-store for 0 zen, this mean that we could get the fleet versions of the ship for only 1 fleet-module. But will it be like this ???
In the 'old days' we get free ships and if we now want the fleet versions it cost us 4 fleet-modules.
We will see what happens, hope its free stuff.
    But not holding my breath..

Firstly, THANK YOU Cryptic, even if I already have some of these items I'm pleased that they're being given away for free, and that other people will have the opportunity to enjoy them :)
There's going to be people moaning on the days that it wasn't what they wanted or whatever, but frankly it's free stuff and it's all good to have. Here's to next week :D
