Okay guys, I had been away for at least a year, doing other things. Playing other games, wife had quads, (Yes, two sets of twins at the same time), SO... yes I've been busy. Then I decided to come back and see what's going on. Especially with the new Romulan stuff they finally put in. Well, needless to say, a lot of other things have changed as well. So, it's kind of like learning the game all over again. Therefore, I have some questions and observations, that I hope you all will be able to answer / offer your thoughts on? Your advice is appreciated! ^_^

1. Will the Romulan characters (I'm Rom / Fed by the way) be able to do those Drozana missions with the Devidians, where you go back in time, and end up doing "Night of the Comet", etc.? Those missions I always thought were fun. As a Romulan, all you would have to do is pass yourself off as a Vulcan. I really like doing this one repeatedly, to get the rewards in multiple amounts, both for myself and my BO's. Those old school phasers are totally groovy, baby, yeah! Nothing is quite so satisfying as shooting a Tholian in his bony crystalline TRIBBLE with an old-school Kirk style phaser.

2. Someone in game said you should be able to pick your allied-factions ships, (when you rank up, and can go pick a new ship), even at the ship selector guy on New Romulus. I did not notice this, but instead they only had Romulan ships there, and I had to go to ESD shipyard to see the whole selection. I ended up getting the C-Store Valdore because it's pretty sweet. Maybe I was just tired and got confused, or maybe this is something they fixed in the past couple of weeks or so.

3. Will a Rom-Fed be able to eventually pick up the Deferi missions, so I can unlock those Dailies out there?

4. (Observation / Idea) I think the scale of ships in sector space is getting a bit cumbersome, and wish they would scale the ships down, this would give us a much better
sense of just how vast space is! Just make it so we have a better range of Zoom-In and Zoom-Out. I am flying Romulan Ha'Nom Guardian now (I think that's what it's called, supposed to be a Science vessel, or as sciencey as a Warbird can be anyhow.) I say scale all the ships down in sector space, to give more of a sense of vastness, awe and wonder! I mean, my God! We're supposed to be trekking through space! Instead it feels like we're crowded into a waiting room. It doesn't mean your relative speed would go down, just the sizes of all the ships.

NOW some mission notes: People on the forums have been expressing concerns about these Romulan Missions being too hard. I found them fairly challenging, but just enough. Overall they were just plain a blast, man.

5. Mind Game : Just a basic "Run-Around" and click this, click that mission. A bit monotonous, but every time you do it, you get a Bio-Molecular Warhead Photon Torpedo
Launcher. I did this 3 times. Then ranked up, so had to go do it some more to get updated versions lol.

6. Installation 18: A fun, simple ground mission in a facility, fighting Tal Shiar, and freeing prisoners. You may see some familiar faces. Watch out for alarms. It starts off from Paradise City on Nimbus III, and you trek across the desert to get to the place. It's not too tough until a surprise enemy at the final room! This mission gives the Piercing Tetryron weapons, (Dual Cannons, Turret or Dual Beam Bank) and so bears doing again, probably 4 times to get some decent weapons, in preparation for what is to come.

7. The Last Stand: People on the forums seem worried about this one. I found it to be a blast. The space battles were just the right size. And yes I did it in my D'Derabrick. just slap an RCS console in there. I think I had 1 Dual Cannon, 2 Bio-Molecular Warhead Photon Torpedo Launchers, and a DBB in front, and a Turret in the back, another Bio Molecular Launcher, and a blue Transphasic Mine launcher. I just set it all on Auto Fire. I tried to just stay on the outskirts around the station, and the allied ships showed up too. So, I just attacked, and then started backing up in reverse, leaving a trail of mines that the Elachi ships had to get near to in order to chase me. Also, if you have Eject Warp Plasma, this could be a good time to do it. With warp shadows, it's almost impossible for them to really surprise you. They teleport behind you, and then you throw it into full forward, they give chase, and get a mouthful of mines lol.

It was a fun mission, and I did it all in about 40 minutes I guess? I really would like to go do it again, it was so much fun! As a reward for this mission, you get the Caustic Plasma weapons, and I'm tempted to go back and get those, although I'm not sure if they're better than the piercing Tets. I believe the Caustics are considered Plasma for purposes of Consoles, etc. With 3 Tac consoles on my latest Warbird, a Ha'Nom Guardian, I might mix the Caustics, Tets, and Transphasics just as an experiment. And then start throwing Grav Well all the time lol. Even in the D'Brick, I was in no real danger on this mission (people need to learn to multi-task I guess, and run in Balanced mode once in a while?) and at times I would just charge right on in and start destroying.

(*Also, there were so many ships firing, I couldn't hear my ship firing at all, so, be on the lookout for this happening. You should still be able to SEE your weapons window cycling if nothing else. It messed up my sound for a few missions afterwards, actually. I went after this to do "Mine Enemy", and the cut-scene where Hakeev is talking to Janek, I couldn't hear any voices.)

Just DO NOT think of the enemy ships as one big group. If you look, you'll notice they are in three main groups, forming a sort of triangle pattern around the base.

So.... scoot around the outside, and then swing around to hit one of the three groups. Lure them backwards while poopin out mines. I didn't die at all on this mission. Remember, you're a ROMULAN. If you're getting spanked, CLOAK OUT. Then come back for your devious revenge. And YES, form those who have said they did it easily, I've noticed they did something I have been doing as well; as a Romulan, you are a Single Target damage dealer. If you try to be an AoE wh0r3, you will be in deep dark dookie. Especially in those big, epic, cataclysmic battles. Just pick a smaller target at first, and hammer it away. Avoid the boss until last.

8. The Best Defense: This one seems to make some players apprehensive, and hit up the forums looking for advice, and say it is too hard. FIRST, you DO need to get your shuttle ready FIRST, but you DON'T go to the mission in the shuttle, you just go in your regular ship, because there is a space battle up in orbit first, then once orbit is clear, you launch your shuttle down to the surface. Well, I found that it was NOT too hard. Here's what I did; Go to the C-Store and get the Kestrel Runabout. It's the best small craft I have tried so far. And I twinked it up pretty good, with decent equipment. It has that Quantum Shield Absorption ability. Then you have a universal slot, put your best Engineer Bridge Officer in there with Emergency Power to Shields. Then you got two shield buffs. Easier to handle, more HP, and more crew, it is better than the Scorpion.

I just ordered the allied fighters to Defend Me, then tried to stay on the edge of the red clumps on the mini-map. Make it a "war of attrition", let the enemy run into your fight and be chewed up. I slowed to about half throttle, held down both mouse buttons to just steer, and just chase them around, try to hold steady, and then your torps should find purchase. (Oh, by the way, a lot of people are having trouble getting their ships to be painted properly lately. I found that if you hit the random button again and again, until you get the basic pattern you're after, then select the colors you want / material type, it will work, instead of you just having dark metal and black stripes. I discovered this because I wanted my Kestrel to look like the ones on Star Trek Armada II)

The only time I ordered the fighters to Attack Target was when the fighters were all gone, and I was on approach toward one of the giant walkers. And, darn, no tow cables! I couldn't really target them until fairly close up, like about 14km. I tried to get in behind the monsters, and just hover there, blasting away. I had my power settings just on Shields the whole time, and that gave me some extra survivability. Once the battle was thinning out, I would shift it back up to full power to weapons.

Oh, and the Kestrel has a cloak, so you can cloak and then de-cloak for a damage boost. I went with a Resilient shield with [Dis] [Cap] and [Reg], and a Eng console with pure kinetic. Sci Console was crew monitor, and tac console was photon. Weapons on the Kestrel were a Polarized Disruptor Turret, and one of the Bio-Molecular Warhead Torp Launchers, which do count as Photons. I blowed up twice I think, but then went right back over to where all the white circles were (that's your allied fighters). Oh, and don't forget to bring Shield Batteries. And check your "P"owers tab to make sure you have any and every useful ability set up on your Kestrel. At the end of this one, you get rewarded with, among other things, the 5 re-breathers you need for what's coming next...

9. Turnabout: You attack some Elachi ships and steal one (Called Target Alpha). Muhu Ha Ha HAAaaaa! Now this is Romulan stuff. It's fun fighting Elachi, except for those weird drone things that spit green stun gas on you, which then explodes, knocking you down. I recommend bringing Tovan, and equip him as well as you can, and give him a Falchion, or another melee weapon that has Expose / Exploit, and just cut him loose. A Nausicaan Tegolar Sword might be a good choice? You too may consider going melee. Heck, right now I've got all but my healer with swords, and she has a nice Phaser Pistol to stun and slow. Why? Elachi can't stand up to melee very well. Me and my away team are mostly Science officers, so there's heals, toxic clouds, fire, more heals, gravity fields, etc, flying everywhere. With me carrying a sword, there's little to interrupt me throwing my Sci powers. And Khev throwing grenades and stabbing stuff. It's great. At the end, you have stolen the ship and leave the system.

10. The Devil's Choice: This one has gotten some criticism on the forums for being stupid hard, and I will agree it has it's moments of frustration. You fly the stolen elachi corvette (Elachi S'golth-class escort ) right up to their base, which is hidden in a subspace rift, (this weird, yellow banana looking thing with red lines on it) and infiltrate it, like a bunch of Jedis or something. (At first it's confusing, because you will notice a LOT of stuff is missing from your interface, no functions or abilities or anything, but it's okay, because you get beamed over to the base soon, just fly straight to the base) You fight through several rooms, getting swarmed by those stupid little robots that explode, all the while freeing captives.

You must rig the main pylons of the base to blow, and then start a cascade reaction. Then of course, you gotta fight the station commander (Like a Boss). Debuff him and debuff him some more, and lay on the melee. Set him on fire with Exothermic Induction Field, and hit him with everything else you got. Even your Triolic Tribble should be gnawing on his ankles. I don't want to spoil the ending of this mission, but I did grab a couple screenies lol.

11. I did just do the Vault last night, and it wasn't all that hard since I have the Kestrel heavy shuttle. It is an excellent light ship, and I can't imagine going with any other, 'cept maybe Yellowstone or Danube. Delta Flyer might be good too. But... What about Colliseum, with Slamek? Will Rom characters have the option to do that mission? I've always wanted to be able to save Slamek, and take him in as a new BO. Something like when you get Law to join your crew. Well anyway, I had little trouble doing the Vault (since it's like my 12th time doing it, BUT, there was one really strange bug that happened; about halfway through the base, in one of those scanning corridor sections with the defensive turrets, one of the turrets that was shooting me up, I could target it, but I could not shoot it! I even flew right up in it's face, and nothing.

Anyway, to sum up, I think the Romulan addition is spectacular, but there are of course a few little minor issues that need to be addressed, which I'm sure will be

eventually. And to recap,
My Questions are :
1. Can Rommies do the Drozana / Devidian missions? You know, where you get the Synchronic Proton Distortion Prototype Assault Rifle?
2. Are the only T5 ships Rommies get Romulan T5s, C-Store Romulan T5's and Mirror Romulan T5's? Oh and maybe... Fleet Romulan T5's? Sorry, but this is a confusing

issue to a LOT of people.
3. Can Rommies eventually get the Deferi missions / dailies? (Although I HATE the one where you have to bribe them with Latinum, I think they should make it so we can

disable their ship, then board and liberate. Romulans do not negotiate with terrorists)
4. Can Romulans do Colliseum, the one with Slamek?

But, overall, thanks to the developers for answering the call to do what was needed, and we all hope you keep it going! Also, thanks to all the wonderful players out there in STO, I would say 99% of you are really cool guys and gals, who are kind, patient and helpful, and don't mind helping explain stuff, I mean... this game has SO much stuff you can do it's over whelming at times. Thanks for reading my excessively long post, and keep on trekkin'!

Yes, but the dialogue will treat you like a Federation officer, not a Republic one. To be fair, it would be a lot of work to rewrite the dialogue. I wish they did (and gave a bit more logic to why a Romulan would work like they did there), but you will get to do them.
    3. Will a Rom-Fed be able to eventually pick up the Deferi missions, so I can unlock those Dailies out there?
Yes, all the Reps are end game content available to everyone, KlinkImp, Fedrat and Rihannsu.
    2. Are the only T5 ships Rommies get Romulan T5s, C-Store Romulan T5's and Mirror Romulan T5's? Oh and maybe... Fleet Romulan T5's? Sorry, but this is a confusing
You can use Tier 4 and lower from your allied faction, but tier 5 and up is Warbird only.
    4. Can Romulans do Colliseum, the one with Slamek?
Yes, you will do that one. You ALSO get special dialogue in it with your "old friend" Hakeev.

    Regarding your questions:

    1. Yes, Romulans can do the Devidian missions and every other mission that is availible to all the factions (or crossfaction if you will). Just click on the missions button that is next to your minimap and then select 'Episodes' and you'll see all the episode missons and featured episodes that are availible for Romulan chars.

    2. At Tier 5, Romulans can only use Romulan Warbirds and lockbox ships. The ships from your allied faction are shared and can be used up to Tier 4, at Tier 5 every faction uses their own ships.

    3. Yes, you'll be able to play the Deferi missions.

    4. Yes, that falls under the 'shared content' for all the factions and the Romulans are no exception.

Also, the Kestrel is available for Energy Credits - you don't have to go to the C-Store for it. (You can also get a shuttle from your allies that way - on my backup account, I have a KDF-Rom, and she used the Klingon equivalent of a runabout for this mission.)

As you go through later missions, keep an eye out for rewritten dialog, especially when you save the Rapier in the wormhole. It's fun. (Oh, and Admiral T'Nae reveals herself as a blatant racist when you have to take missions from her...)

Not really, just wanted to clear that issue up. Chances are I'll be getting the Mogai Refit, or *maybe* the T'Varo refit. They really do have some decent variety at that level, if you have the Zen, but you want the best all-around ship, and a console that will compliment any special consoles you already have.

Of course if I could, I'd have this guy in a Rademaker lol. But no no no... he's a Romulan, and so he should be in a Romulan ship. :o

HOLD IT! If you can - get that "Small"/"affordable" Romulan Pack :) Not the extreme one but that $19.95? one! It'll give you the T'varo and a few other perks :) Although with Quads! CONGRATS! I know it maybe difficult to, but if you can - grab it!!! Also "Welcome Back!" I'm sure you'll enjoy it! I would also like to add - if you can get into a fleet, do so! Because with that little rom pack - at Level 50 you can get the Fleet T'varo if your in a T1 fleet fairly quickly! :) Oh - if not then I'd recommend looking for the Mirror Ha'feh at level 50; and 'she's' good enough for pretty much anything after that :)
