compared to other mentoring systems I've played.
I'm a returning player from a few years ago, and play with a friend usually but we sometimes level alts and are out of sync a lot of times. The mentoring system makes playing so tedious in the sense that if you even get out of range zone into another zone/area it causes grief. Why can't this be galaxy wide? This range nonsense is ridiculous.
Thanks for making it difficult. Lets not even mention the other stupid bugs in the game and UI.

... It is there to make sure you play together otherwise it would be an exploit.
so many times i have been teamed up with a lower level player matching their level and then all of a sudden the enemies are level 50 and one shotting the lower level player.
once you set to match player, it should stay that way.. not auto switch to not matching.

It gets REALLY annoying when it forces you to be within 5km in a space mission, the least they could do is make it cover the whole map. That way you need to stay on the same map for it to stick but it wont randomly fall out if you fly/run in different directions on said map.

Maybe it's too early and I haven't had my coffee yet, but, it wouldn't be an exploit if it locks the mentor to the 'sidekick's level for the current map.
As it stands, it seems like its the first person into the zone, ie. space system map that populates the level of the enemies, if I was the higher person mentoring 'down' to my friends level and went in first without some sort of 'lock' mechanism, he would have to come in and mentor 'up'.
This would mean he would lose all the bonuses such as traits etc he would have acquired along the way.
Plus he runs the risk of constantly being out of range (ridiculously small) so it breaks mentor.
how is locking a exploit? In fact, Everquest 2 had a similar system until they had to lock it for the map so people couldn't unmentor and exploit while in the current map not the other way around.
to be honest the whole teaming up thing is broken all together..
a few times ive ran some missions with lower level fleet mates and in the end they didnt get credit for anything.. or like i said half way through they started fighting enemies they couldnt handle and had to abort the mission to start over.
it would be nice if they fixed it. but i doubt they will. its just one of those things.

Having mentoring working galaxy wide is ridiculous. It should only be active within a specific mission so if I am level 50 at the start, then I am level 50 for just this mission and not level 20 because my mentor went ahead of me to another map that is part of the mission.

If not you can always unmatch and just kill the things normally.
