Raising birds after summer event ends (Dev post #16)

vocmcpvocmcp Member Posts: 1,134 Arc User
Will we be able to hatch and raise birds once the summer event is over? Does anyone know? I got some spare eggs and I'd like to know if I should use them up or if it's worth carrying them over for marks. (Also I'm still missing some for the set)

I doubt it, we couldn't raise the winter epoh's after the winter event either. I think they will leave the vendor in the game for a while, so you can trade your last ones in for marks, but that is about it.

Will you be able to continue the bord stuff to the end on 15th?

I also heard that the flying for pearls will end before 15th? True?

Getting Pearls through "Flying High" ends on the 4th ... it's true

I've been hearing that the event area is going to remain after the event ends. Is that true?

If so, all they need to do is leave the Ornithologist there. You would be able to raise birds, but you wouldn't be able to get any more eggs after the event ends.

Which you can see for yourself here.

The message you get when you click the Risa event window on the launcher now also confirms this.

Yes the new Risa is gonna stay ... the question is what's gonna stay on Risa, maybe they'll just remove the Ornithologist ...

It would be great if they just remove that floater quest. Leave the map in. Add to it. It's a great getaway from space battles.

Ive never been much into STF's so I never had any Omega marks so no Omega Rep, Since Risa started and the Ornithologist appeared I now have 2 characters working on Tier 5 Omega Rep, I don't mind them taking away the pearls but I hope they leave the Ornithologist , the Horga hunt and the dancing

True, but you can raise epohhs on New Romulus to trade for Romulan Marks, so there shouldn't be an issue with keeping the birds as is, or with some modifications.

I for one think they should just take out Flying High and leave the rest. However I think that Flying High should remain until the very end of the event (but that's another subject in itself!).

True, but if you can tell me where on New Romulus you can raise and trade Winter Epohs, then you can keep your Risen Birds ;)

Now, if they were to add a version of the birds to New Romulus that didn't require running around tagging them, I would be all for it :D

Yes, that's why I wrote "or with some modifications". They don't have to place them on New Romulus, though; they can just leave them on Risa.

Why would Risian native wildlife be found on New Romulus?

The Ornithologist contact will be heading into hiatus when the Summer Event comes to an end (Aug 15th). Any bird breeding assignments you have in progress will still complete, but you will be unable to launch new ones, as well as losing access to the ability to trade in Birds for Reputation Marks.

This contact is planned to return with the Summer Event in 2014, so it's up to you whether you cash in now, or wait until next year's event.

So unlike the Winter Epohhs, there's no plan to add a tab to the GPL vendor to turn in the Birds, even for a limited amount of time?

thanks for the info, makes sense, didn't think for 1 minute that Cryptic would allow us to continue the bird doffs indefinatley, that would be too easy for us lol and i know you like us to work for our marks!! :)

Not really, I still have 20 something eggs that I would cash in if time allowed.

How about all the Eggs that we will have due to the 24 hour built in limitation in hatching one at the time? Any way to convert them in to something useful?

From our point of view, I guess, the best thing would be if the ornithologist stuck around for a while, until we've all run out of eggs to hatch and birds to raise... but that might take a while, if people have been stockpiling eggs.

Can I throw in, at this point, a plea for the floater courses to stay active in some modified form? I've been doing "Flying High" daily, even though I've already got the ship, simply because, well, I enjoy it!
