Best Hangar Pet? (JHEC)

I know the Bugship is probably considered the best, but obtaining that is a little beyond my desire since the hangar is pretty much bonus damage for me. But I want to put something fun there in any case. The JH Fighters are alright, but nothing special. So what would you go with? Scorpions? Orion Interceptors?

Pre-nerf I'd say Slavers since they used to have pretty decent combat performance and the added bonus of picking up goodies occasionally. Now? I'd say Elite scorps. just my opinion.

    For sitting inside a JHEC:

To'Duj Fighters - Straight Damage, quick to replace, projectiles cannot be negated by enemy AOE attacks.

Interceptors - Very good, all around unit, IMO, but outstanding CC units. Elite version is equal to the Elite Yellowstones in locking down a target, to include Escorts and their APO. Chroniton spam as well as Weapon & Energy Drain. Elite Interceptors have Tractor Beam I. Hands down the fastest moving hangar units in the game... they are the best in pursuing a fleeing foe and keeping them "in combat" during PVP. Also, due to their speed and weapons, they are very effective when in "Intercept" mode and shooting up targetable projectiles & mines. I have long favored Interceptors in both PVP & PVE.

Elite Scorpions - They have a good reputation for damage output in PVE due to the High Yield Plasmas. In PVP though, those HYT Plasmas are easily knocked out due to the plethora of AOE attacks in PVP.

Shield Repair Units - Provide better shield upkeep.

I'm pretty sure the JHEC can't use Interceptors

They can. Matter of fact, as long as you possess the Dacoit in your shiplist somewhere, you can buy and use the Orion Interceptor on any carrier as a KDF player. I've used the Interceptors on Vo'Quv, Kar'Fi, JHDC. There's no reason why it will not work on the JHEC or Flight Deck Cruisers.

In STO, the vast majority of Fighters (not Frigates) are not restricted to usage on 1 ship. They might have prerequisites in order to buy them but once you've acquired them, you can outfit them on practically any carrier your toon has.

Ah, do I have to buy the Dacoit before I can use the Adv Orion Interceptors then? Because they are grayed out for me.

For sitting inside a JHEC, and if not using accessing the JHAS carrier units, then

Pretty sure the JHAS Hangar pets are only usable on the JHDread and not on the JHHEC.

I did buy the Dacoit, which unlocked the Adv Orion Interceptors. So I went with those. Thanks to all who replied.

You are quite correct and that detail slipped. Will adjust my post.

The Elite Interceptors are awesome, but I'd also suggest getting Elite Slavers. The stealing needs work, but thier dps is good and they don't rely on abilities like high yield torp for dps so the change to respawning does them no harm and now that escort works you can use doffs to boost damage.

if you switch to a two hangar ship sometimes for variety Elite Slavers and Elite Interceptors compliment each other. The interceptors cc means enemies are more likely to be hit by slaver mines.

Slaver hullpoints have been nerfed... they die very, VERY quickly even in PVE now. They make regular To'Duj and Orion Interceptors look like Fer'Jai Frigates in terms of survivability.

Since Slaver hullpoints are nerfed, their looting nerfed, I see no possible reason to go with Slavers at all, to include even the Elite versions.
