Random Tray Rearrangement

irwin109irwin109 Member Posts: 518 Arc User
So today on one toon only (KDF Nausicaan) my trays seem to randomly reset, first time I noticed it was on my Corsair FDC, going into Federation Minefield it reset my trays even turning autofire off and removing bridge officers, second time was on my Scourge Destroyer it was fine in Qonos but when I transwarped to Romulan space (I meant to go do Taud Dewa but hey!) the same thing happened, except my b'offs were still in place, but auto fire was off and my trays seemed to be reset, things were all over the place!

Yes every time you get a new ship before you go into battle make sure you check your tray or you will be sorry for not doing so...it also changes if you change skills either by boff retraining or just changing the boffs you have at certain stations, but that is to be expected.

I know about it happening with new ship, get a new ship changes all my ship trays around, these however are ships I've had set up for a while now, unedited in any way, they were also correct on one map and then messed up on the next, I've also never had a tray reset on an old ship reset autofire before...

Yeah, my bridge officers have been taking the occasional unauthorized break as well. I've never had a problem with my autofire turning itself on or off, but the game loves to populate any empty slots on my tray with boff powers, and sometimes decides to move around my set powers (Assimilated Tractor Beam, Heavy Graviton Beam).
You're right. The work here is very important.

I had this happen on my Romulan recently without touching anything on the ship. Warped into a Starbase Alert, and WTF all my Boffs had unset. Fortunately, if you get the same Boffs back in the same slots, the tray should mostly go back to how it was. The problem is remembering what Boffs you had on there to get the set of powers you had. After some scrambling around, I was able to sort it out only missing the opening volleys of the first wave.

A lot of you seem to be missing the point here, this isn't the regular, albeit annoying, b'off disappearance/tray reshuffle/new ship tray reshuffle, this was from Qonos to Fed' Minefield in one case and Qonos to Pi Canis (via transwarp) in another in which my tray reset as if it was a brand new ship I had got, in the second case the bridge officers hadn't even left their stations but it still set my tray up as if it was my first time in the ship, rather than the usual "oh I'll just remove all your powers from the tray and your b'offs from the slots"...

What annoys me most is that I seem to get a ghost tab of an older ship that I can mouse-hover and it disappears once clicked. I also get that some of my BoFF abilities just randomly places itself on the quickslot bar.

I don't want it there unless I use macros. (Why some people use macro's, I have no idea - since this game isn't WoW) Auto-Fire (unless tactically-placed torpedoes) and Click the correct sequence of skills..

*One side thing: Why doesn't Shield appearance show when logging in?

This seems to be a bug introduced with LoR.

It was reported by multiple individuals during the tribble testing(myself among them). the fact that it doesn't happen to everyone all the time is proof that the devs at least tried to fix it...

don't use change char option log out and back in . mine was doing this on all my toons as I was lvling up my reman and changing his stuff almost constantly. a fleet mate sujjested that maybe it was like the chat bug where you could see fed side chats and actually log out instead of just changing and it all stopped. then to test it I logged back into my reman changed his ship and boffs then just changed toons back to one of my regulars and sure enough scrambled eggs ....

so in my case atleast don't use change char option.

I love how broken this is with no fixes ever being done. If you add or remove ships your tray gets messed up. If you do absolutely nothing at all then you randomly lose abilities or even get your whole tray wiped out.

Like I said before, they have tried to fix it and their efforts have made the problem less severe.

    One fix:
Step 1> Remove all boffs from your current ship's stations.
Step 2> Reslot boffs as desired.
This will likely fix a number of issues, such as hotbar's changing, losing department heads, boffs as ships, and vanishing boffs from duty (Who told you that you could take a break!!!!)
Worked on all characters of mine that were having some of these issues, such as Klin sci on a Mirror Vo'Quv, and Fed Tac on a Patrol Escort.
Also had confirmation from some people in chat, that this worked for them.

so in my case atleast don't use change char option.

I almost never use Change Character because of it getting rid of chat channels (even though I've got really used to using /g and /f anyway so it wouldn't really make a difference any more) ut glad it worked for you.

The bug removed all my boffs from their posts for me the other day, which I only noticed because the Science Officer talking to me in a mission was not one of my current Boffs, and confused the hell out of me. It also removed all their skills from my tray, because they were gone from their stations, so it was just as well I caught that then, as I was about to do a mission for dilithium which without those buttons I would have had a very difficult time of - so it certainly does and can affect game play.

I'll update if I continue to have problems or if my putting them back in place has fixed this - but I think I am still finding my dept heads moving about or disappearing since that happened.

Pretty much every time you visit the ship selection NPC, your ability trays will be a randomized mess. It doesn't matter if you did NOTHING after opening the ship selection pane. You're screwed regardless.

For me -and I've said it numerous times- this is by far the WORST bug in the entire game. You want to make money, right PWE? Well how will you encourage people to buy new ships when every time they switch ships their tray is a total mess?!? Instead, people will just stick to one fave ship, because they don't want to spend 10 mins fixing their trays every time they switch ships.

To fix this, simply reduce the number of tray layers from 10 to 4 (if you have memory issues for saved data) and save the bridge officer and tray setup PER SHIP and no longer having a shared tray for all your ships. Simple no?

Do not worry! Cryptic will fix this bug the same time they fix Cloaks going down when your Bridge Officer sneezes.

I rarely have this but it could be because I have a separate bridge crew per ship, this, since these bugs were introduced, seemed to stop that happening, now they just seem to minimise it happening...

I had this happen when I deleted a ship from my roster that I never used?

It caused my current ship trays to go nuts?

So much for the "Lock Tray" button.

Hmm never had that one, normally it's usually a new ship that does it for me and the occasional bridge officers taking an unapproved leave from their stations, still not had this problem again since...yet.

I have had this problem as well. I don't know when or if it will be fixed because it does seem related to the traditional bug of the tray being randomly arranged.
