What are the preferred weapon types now?

with all the hybrid weapons out there I've been toying with changing out the phasers from my Regent.

quick check at the exchange for purple MK XIIs shoe a metric butt-ton of polaron, then disruptor, with a few nanite-disruptors.

at one time disruptors were the top dog weapon to have.

what's the order now?

What do you PvE against, and do you PvP? Disruptor proc is pretty good go-to if you mix it up a lot or are doing mostly (E)STFs where there's no shields for a good portion of enemies. Nanite Disruptor is helpful with well shielded enemies, and the smaller-than standard disruptor debuff of resists helps once those shields are gone. Phaser proc is handy in PvP, as a proc that takes out shields can make for an easy win.

Romulan Plasma has both the Disruptor proc and a Plasma proc, and since it has a base of Plasma it can be buffed by Embassy [Pla] consoles, Romulan Singularity Harness (Torp, beam array and console Set) on top Plasma Tac consoles making it quite a good option PvE.

Anti-proton is a pretty nice option if you can get the three consoles that boost Crits (Borg, Rom Rep and Tachokinetic Converter [200 Lobi])and the Rom Tac BOffs from the Embassy with 'Superior Operative'. Though, right now the only way to get Mk XII is via the Fleet Stores, and Mk XI are basically limited to Dil Store and ones that have been crafted, unless an uber rare drop comes up on the Exchange. Seems it would be a much nicer on Romulans as you can stack (Superior) Operative across all your BOffs and take the racial Trait yourself.

Really every type of weapon has it's use nowadays, it all depends on what you want to do.

The disruptor proc is best for team play, as its debuff helps everyone. There are a multitude of disruptor variants available (polarized, elite, nanite, spiral wave...). And Romulan Plasma weapons have the disruptor proc.

Those are all "preferred," I'd say. However, my advice is to use your favorite color. Really. They're all useful in their own way.

Romulan Plasma. Both the plasma and disruptor procs and damage boosted by the embassy consoles.

Agreed. I use Romulan plasma because its dual proc combo generates some of the highest sustained DPS in the game, especially when used with the Romulan Singularity Harness weapon set.

There are two ways to get embassy stuff; it all depends on how you go about it and how many, if any, fleet provisions you may have gathered.

The first way to get embassy stuff is to join a fleet and, depending on if you have the provisions, buy the stuff and then leave the fleet once you have made your purchase(s). This will most likely cost a decent chunk in ECs. If you need fleet credits, for the provisions, then the fleet you join might put up a mini project and allow you to fill it up in order to obtain the fleet credits required.

The second option is to find and join a fleet and stick with them. Fleet purchasing from fleet holdings might vary fleet to fleet.

    @annemarie30

Try the Public Service channel. You can usually get invites to embassies/Starbases/mines to get access to their facilities. Granted, you need to have the provisions and fleet marks and dil on hand for the things you want to buy.

If you are interested in a tiny fleet of about 12 people or so drop me a line @Lord_Vale_Cortez. We can definitely provide you with provisions, opportunities for fleet marks and 0 drama/interaction with the majority of us as we all barely interact with each other. You'll have to use the Public Service channel to visit other fleets for facilities greater then our meagre T2.

    On topic:

I've always preferred phaser. Not only is it canon on Fed ships, I like the fact it can drop any system. And knocking out a system is great no matter which it is.

if that offer for the fleet is open to all I might take you up on it. some fleet requirements for daily dilithium donations are rediculous

As a fleet leader I agree. But also being the leader of a small fleet (31 players), myself and two others literally carry 95% of the work load for all embassies, Starbases & mines projects.

I don't want to keep begging people to help out, but at the same time, what's the point of being in a fleet when only 3% of the players do 95% of the work? I might as well go back to flying solo and buying everything from the Exchange or deal with the ridiculously high requirements for Nakura, Romulan and Omega STF's.
One day Cryptic will be free from their Perfect World overlord. Until that day comes, they will continue to pamper the whales of this game, and ignore everyone that isn't a whale.

There are fleets that do that? as a leader i can understand using peoples total contributions to determine some basic ranks and store access(only easy gauge for people you don't interact with) in a small fleet but i find the idea of demanding daily donations ridiculous(BTW anyone after t3 access can pm @emperordeslok)

Back on topic, romulan plasma ACCx2 is good bang for buck in PVE as the disruptor debuff enhances plasma fire effectivness otherwise any ACC2 DMG2 works well but the big three are still phasers disruptors and antiproton
