I almost fell from my chair from laughter just now :D

CSE, not a DPS team, I'm in my Fleet Recon, and this is the conversation so to say with the captain of the Ha'feh:

    Aurelius@: Someone, kill that cube!!!

(he's on low health and I went to give him a heal after his and another teammate's best efforts in the last five minutes)

Saty@satanailofhwbg: I would have obliterated that cube in 5 seconds with your Ha'feh

Aurelius@: damn 4 members of my fleet need 4 minutes for this **** (shaite - got censored)

    Saty@: I see that you're a spectator there too

Saty@: and I'm in a damn science vessel

Hilarious....I need more of those :D

Btw, I do have a Ha'feh and a Fleet Ha'feh and I'm fully aware of the potential of the ship in question. (it's a monster if I may say so)

    Hee!

I am envisioning the player in the Scimitar, wholly confident in the ability's strength, charging theirs first by dint of predicting her position. Probably typing something akin to 'DONATRA! This is it, my FINAL ATTACK! Have some of your own medicine! And taste the wrath of the Romulan Republic!' or something dramatic like that.

Does about a piddly amount of damage to her forward shield only. Maybe softens it a tic...

Utter silence. Then Donatra's reply of her own thalaron burst utterly vapes the fellow before they can mutter a very Data-like 'Ohhh shhh~'

The more I play STFs I am starting to wonder why do I even bother with the optionals anymore. At this point I feel I should just give up on the whole 10% rule and try and finish the mission ASAP and forget the optionals.

had some fail runs with PESTF, where they had low dps, but as always, I just got frustrated by taking more than 10 mins to win, nothing optional loss, or anything.

but I am still wondering, how one could die against one sphere, soloing it in the distance

Anybody see the Risian Corvette in STFE yet?
Just got mine this morning and with the piercing tetryon build i use it sliced though the borg like they weren't there.

Everyone seemed to think they'd pop every few seconds but while not as sturdy as my intrepid retro i find it is surprisingly resilient.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I'll have my Risian some time today.

This last week I went through all the possible type of ships in order to figure out as to why there are so many mediocre players....and yes, you guessed - the problem is not the ships, it's in the device behind the keyboard.
    The conditions are as follows:

    Science captain

    Reputation: Rommy@T5, Nukara@T4, Omega@T5

Beam arrays: 4 Romulan Mk XII [Acc]x2, one KCB and one experimental beam array
Warp core: Overcharged Mk XI purple with W->A
    Space set: Adapted MACO
    Consoles:
Tac: Plasma Infusers Mk XI purple
Sci: Fleet Graviton Gens Mk XII +Pla -Th
Eng: Plasmonic leech, Assimilated Module, Zero-Point Energy Conduit, RSC Mk XI blue (last two are on if there are more than 2 eng console slots)

(DPS = All damage / time in seconds)

Atrox Carrier: c.a. 9k DPS, no FAW spam
Fleet Reconnaissance Science Vessel: With FAW spam - c.a. 6700, without: 5800
Assault Cruiser: haven't clocked this one, but it was performing noticeably better than the sci vessel. 2xAux2Bat+EPtW3 - it was really interesting to shoot with 8 weapons (the additional 2 were Mk XI green plasma) and see weapons power drop to 123 :D

Sooo....I really need an answer to one question - HOW for the love of God can you NOT achieve 4k DPS ON ANY ship?

P.S> I don't think that Sensor Analysis works properly because it does not show it stack! (and it did before LOR)

Well, you pretty much gave the answer yourself.

Exchange your Fleet Recon Sci for it's RA variant, replace your VR Mk.XII gear, every reputation item and your best in slot consoles with normal, rare/uncommon mk X ones , subtract a bit of dps for those reputation traits and try it with a build that doesn't require rather expensive doff and in-depth knowledge of game mechanics (which are crappily documented, in addition to a lot of people giving horrible advice to new guys both ingame and in the forums) to work and you'll get those results.

Meh - I love the Quantum Focus phaser in ISE personally. It's great in my opinion, and absolutely EATS the generators and the gate, especially if buffed.

It's fantastic to be able take a generator down solo, quickly, when you find yourself in a team where everyone else farts around chasing spheres instead of trying to take the genny out.

You're totally correct on that. My main eng toon rides a vesta and I'll pop NI and that other power level eng power(can't remember the name right now), then TT, RF1, and the Quantum Focus Phaser while watching the aux powered dual heavies and the turrets in back go nuts while the QFP dishes out over 4.5K DPS BY ITSELF and absolutely melt a normal cube in ISE. I try to time it all to go off after a shield facing drops so I can have all that glorious firepower ripping through my target's hull-points. Tis quite fun watching it's hull % drop and go boom before everyone else is able to get over to help pop it. Need to see about pulling one of the aux dual heavies and slotting the bio-neural torp to see how that works out.

Once i am finished with some build tests on my corvette (currently a nice bomber setup) i think i'll take my Galaxy-X for a spin.

Someday I'm going to make a level 50 character named John-Luke Pikard, give him a Gal-R named USS Enterprize, put a competent build behind it, and slap on rainbow beams just for the lolz in ESTF pugs.

If you really want to go for lolz, use the lowest Mk possible with each 'color' and be sure to use common ones. Oh, and always spam the FaW. I've used that set-up for a 'skittle boat' and spammed CSV while shouting in the team chat, "Skittle boat to the rescue!".

Lol, I'm not going for actually being badly equipped, just the rainbow beams. I still want to slightly effective. But BFAW is a must.

I entered a ISE last night with EliteSTF channel. I was on a team with a bugship, a scimitar, an armitage, and a Jem Dread.

My odyssey class USS Double Rainbow (NCC 11111) not only got highest dps at 10.3k, but got more DPS than any two of the others combined. I use Mk XII* rainbow beam arrays with a cutting beam and the rainbow dual beam bank. (and lots of FaW and overload)

*(My antiproton beam is only mk xi because i don't have a fleet one yet)

I feel like I could improve the rainbow goodness if I sprang for a Marion Frances Dulmar and switched my RSP3 for DEM3, but that seems like a lot of EC to throw in for a laugh (after the 5 mil I spent on 3 Mk XII purple beam damage consoles)

This one is not so much about the fails of PuG, 90% of the STF's i do are pugs and if i'd be honest, i quite like the challenge :D . You never know if you're in a great or fail team (disclaimer: DO NOT use repulsors if you don't know how to use 'm properly ;) ).

Yeah i've been a rainbow once, yeah i was the redshirt of the team once, but that is all behind me now.

Lately people talk about Donatra / Tal'shiar fleet alert cloak-spam being unable to finish the mission. Before the secret oddy buff i usually flown escortlike ships (the charal, ha'feh, defiant retrofit with an avg of 5k to 8k dps) and found it quite the challenge to get the Scimi destroyed. We weren't unable to, but it usually took around 10 to 15 mins (mainly caused by it's cloakspam) unless if someone shoved the scimi away from me with repulsors /*facepalm*\ .

    Anyway... what i wanted to say was;
When they buffed the oddy, i thought, lets give it a try. I put around 7 elite fleet disruptors (x2 acc), 1 cutting, 1 omega and the rest are embassy (XI) or mine consoles (X). My average dps in the oddy is between 5.5k to 6.5k dps (no oddy pack consoles). It was an experimental semi dem/aux2bat/faw frankenstein build. (including a halfassed skillplan which is decent, but is in need of a respec).

    But..

Last week i did about 2 fleet alerts with Tal'shiars and 3 KASE's, all with the same result; destroyed in less than 3 minutes... it couldn't cloak for more then two times.

Is it me? Does the scimi blow faster when you attack with a cruiser? Was it luck or had someone else noticed this too?

    Nerf is OP, plz nerf
That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.

I call it, the Stoutes paradox.

I went into an Infected Space Normal (Don'tJudgeMe) with me (In a Risian Corvette), a Scimitar, Patrol Escort, and a Lt. Commander Cruiser and Escort.
Needless to say, due to their poor capabilities, the Optional was lost, and then the two left, leaving us 3 with an increasing amount of spheres. I left the match and got hit with the 1 hour ban.

There are those out there who believe that a failed optional is totally worth quitting for. Others, potentially redoing for, even at the expense of ditching an already 90% completed mission...

So, my friends and I did an HSE last night. Two words: Total nightmare.

I'm not in the mood for carefully kiting the cubes out one by one, so just rush in and make short work of them. And then the unimatrixes show up. We're fighting it, and getting lanced even though we're right on top of the thing. After we had died several times I told everyone to just wait at the spawn and regroup. One of my friends got a little impatient (I can't blame him) and rushed out while we were waiting for the last person to respawn, and got dispatched on his way over there by a lance. So finally I get everyone together at the spawn and waited until the ship's hanger bay glowed (that's what it does before the lance) and then stopped, then we charged at it. We destroyed the regen probes and got the thing to 50% in less than a minute, but most of were dead again. I tell everyone to regroup at spawn again and we'll go together and finish it off. But as I die, the real derpiness starts...

...I respawn and we see that the unimatrix has turned sideways. It is now completely shifted 90 degrees from where's it's supposed to be. I'm just like "Uh, whatever". And we go back at it. We continue destroying the regen probes and beating the thing down. We die again, but I tell everyone to just keep going at it. During this time, the unimatrixes are doing some odd things, like the one we weren't fighting is facing different directions, and the one we were fighting turned back to its normal position. To my horror, it started moving. Not very far, but it did move slightly. So after that whole painful battle it finally explodes. The second one takes far less time, and then the Queen comes, we tear off all her shields, and then we get our marks.

If they (The powers that be) intend to leave HSE in this state, they really should up the Omega marks significantly for this event. I haven't touched this in months since my bad experience of instant respawn lance death.

OK, there may be one here or there that actually justifies it, but we're talking Infected space, normal! You loose 4 marks if you fail the optional. 15 if you quit. It's illogical to quit.

This probably isn't the 'worst' STF I've been in but a funny one. So tonight I was on the PublicEliteSTF channel to see if anyone was doing any ELITE Ground STF's on my Romulan Tactical Alt character to get the accolade where you have to complete the elite optional. This character just got the Mk X MACO ground set and currently working on the Borg Space set. Jumped into a CGE, got the optional just fine. Then got into a KGE where the person who formed the group told what the game plan was which was okay but then that person started going ballistic on everyone for no reason over someone who apparently used security escorts when nobody did. As a result that person (leader of the group) rage quit the level and everyone else left. Then the 3 other players and myself reformed a group for KGE, got another player to join and got in the level, used same strategy and was able to complete the optional with 1 minute to spare. We then got out of the level and was congradulating everyone on a good game and that other player who rage quit didn't even say a word in chat.

Entered ISE and then one of the others on the team says, lets do Fleet alert instead and everyone but me left. Was late and 1 joined then imediatly left. Needless to say that kinda sucked.

Did a CSE and everyone had a T5.5 or better ship, all cruiser except 1 scimi. i went to the middle and started on those spheres while they did they kang and sometimes the spheres on the right. Completed the sphers and moved onto the right spheres, got those and the cube. made it back to the middle cube and the kang exploded. 7 minutes on the timer to go too. How can 4 ships that are not rainbow boats not protect the kang? I really can understand if they are all the free ships from leveling and all rainbow builds, but these guys must be even worse than a newbie. Anyway it was bad but didnt upset me.

Worst ESTF was 4 mirandas with no consoles and default equipped. yeah T0 weapons... Yeah we died allot but was fun.

    my first ground stf:

almost a week after i started making elite stf's (all elite) i decided to que up for a ground stf, elite too. i enter in the pve journal and a few seconds later ... *pop*

i think my gear was jem hadar full set mk xi, and a crm200...

me and my team beam to the map, and i go alone *uaahh* ... insta killed by a few borg, and they get that bug where they run very fast towards the spawn zone...
my team mates yell at me... but i pretend im not paying attention to the chat :D
we can get rid of the bugged borg, and we continue, until a fancy room with a elite tac borg drone, there i noticed : *wth ?! my cold dealing weapon is doing 1 dmg, and wtf is that addapt sign ?! put that in your *cough* *cough* !! i die, and after almost a minute, i respawn.
i get lost in those tunnels, and with a lot of effor, i finally make my way towards my team mates. when i got there, we lost optional, and a guy teaches me how to remodulate my weapons *ah good old newbie times* ... we made our way killing some borg, and we finally found the boss, i got killed a lot of times, BUT in the end, ive got a mk xii borg tech armor *before season 7, oor 6 i dont quite remember* i posted the item in the team chat, and i remember them saying, *$#? you ... lalala... ive been weeks trying to get that !

thats it, my first, worst, and luckiest stf ever

Just did an infected elite and a member of particular fleet know to grief other players blew the optional then flew off and bragged about it and then taunted the rest of the team until 2 players had enough of him and left. It's bad enough having to pug with people that do it out of ignorance but to have people do it on purpose just to grief other players is going to far. I was under the impression that this fleet was trying to improve its reputation, but when it's members do this kind of stuff it just shows what some of them are really about.
