- Remove the daily limit of Tour and make it doable at the end of each cooldown.
- Increase the amount of ec earned in Tour for covering each block.
- Make Tour reward ec per sector rather than per sector block.
- Give Tour a ec completion reward equal to the amount made during Tour.
I would suggest people stop discussing their methods of making EC on here as you are just doing Cryptics job for them and they will be the next to be nerfed!

If Cryptic wants to squeeze players that's their problem, you can't use that as an excuse to stop helping players and leave them in the dark. Not if you've been in the ordinary player's shoes and know what they go through to establish themselves and make ends meet in game. They deserve all the information and help they can get.
The trollers are out again I see. Players who think like that are usually the ones who already have everything and want to keep others from reaching where they are. I have and WILL discuss here methods on making ec that may be of help to regular ordinary players. Your opinion noted, but this is a help thread, not a place to troll in.

I actually posted a handful of ideas, for all of 30 seconds before I realized el1m is right. Anyone who has any time actually playing the game already knows most f these posted ideas so the devs just need to look for the obvious exploits. And what better place to look than this thread ?
...Maybe you're a dev in disguise trolling for those exploits, eh ?
A lot of players bought C-store ships to do the Tour faster, so this argument is moot. The net money Cryptic was losing as a result of players repeatedly doing a 1/4 of the race is probably equivalent to what it was earning as a result of c-store sales motivated by those wanting to speed up the time it takes to complete the tour.
you're kidding right? I can only think of a few things in the Cstore that actually make race easier and most of those get bought for other reasons.
Nobody is "supposed" to do anything markhawk. We play the game as we please within the parameters they have set.
Really? So you define exploiting the heck out of anything you can find fair game.... Race was meant to be played by actually completing the misison. If you can't see that you're delusional.
If there was a faster way of completing the tour and earning more money, it's not the fault of those people who spent hours researching it and preparing builds specifically for the Tour that you couldn't figure it out. Maybe if you'd actually bothered to research it you would have also benefited?
Nice try, but....
How is dropping a mission after completing just enough of it to get a partial reward NOT exploitive? Hmm? answer that. Because THAT is why Cryptic made this change. To keep people from starting the mission and only doing part of it for easy ec.
There are probably better ways of accomplishing that goal, but this one worked.

No not at all I was actually a founding member of a very healthy in game channel whose single motive was to help Newcomers and give advice. I am merely suggesting that methods are discussed somewhere that Cryptic does not have eyes and ears and people are free to talk without fear of an arbitrary ban!
In fact I will set such a place up, devs consider yourself not Invited!
Tour The Universe was a useless way to make EC's...
I needed the Marion Frances Dulmur doff, which goes for around 25 milion EC. I managed to get those EC's in about a week, by doing 2 things...
1: Admiral BoBo foundry mission every day
2: Farm Kerrat (the space war zone borg planet), farm sb24 and gorn minefield.
I made that 25 million in about a week and a half, would have made it sooner but i get distracted a lot in Kerrat cause of the klingons shooting at me.
Cryptic is extremly short sighted when it comes to new players. A lot of new players simply dont know about the good drop rate zones, or how to make EC. The 4 hour cool down of Tour will make some folks who dont know the ins and outs of good places for loot do the one thing that Cryptic dont want them to do...
...and that is go to a third party place and BUY their EC's.
Well done Cryptic... well done.
"You know when that shark bites, with its teeth dear... scarlet billows start to spread..."

No matter where you go in this game, you're owned and watched, so I quit bothering about the poltergeist over my shoulder a long time ago. Let Devs read whatever they want, I hear players saying stuff and doing stuff a lot worse than me, who am simply helping others like me out the best way I can; and I'm not afraid of Dev retribution. Devs can play god all they want, but I'm a player and my business is the world we players are in. Anything I can do to help others I will (Heck, I gave away free the only lobi ship I ever had, an Adapted Destroyer set, to a player who needed a better ship a few weeks ago. Have yet to see any player be that thoughtful to me.).
As for a more private place, in game is no more private than here, but you're welcome to my fleet channel XTERN1TY if you want advice or game help.

I was talking about somewhere totally external of cryptic like a secret facebook group or something!

XTERN1TY has a facebook page as well under its name, problem is many players don't have fb and those who do are reluctant to go to external pages. Forum is still the best way to reach players I know, aside from in-game.

Sure! You can pm or mail me in game, I play every day. I'm on right now, will be for the next 7-8 hours unless something goes haywire.
Oh btw, in case you're wondering... no I don't have any more lobi ships, probably won't see another for the next couple years or more if my fleet eats up all my ec.

Dont worry my interest lies not with Lobi Ships saving for a JHEC atm, which will be hard with the tour nerf
While the Tour, SB24, Foundry Daily etc... are nice ways for some side earnings, the real potential for earning big numbers of EC is still in doffing.
I don't mean the off-chance you'll craft a purple, mkXII disruptor coil, but all the small things that you run regularly and that will create a reliable stream of steady income.
running supports, (downgrind & sell the results), selling contraband, particles, running asylums, flight training, gamma officer exchanges, nadorc, strike against, warp core/console crafting (NOT the one req. the artifact) etc... will net you way, way more than those dailies mentioned above, while investing a lower amount of ingame time.
You guys whine as if Tour the Universe was the only place to get EC.
If you are so into flying around, grab your Klingon char and go plunder.
Finding 20-23 Doff Missions which yield contraband, prisoners and other commodities doesn't take long and while the doffs do the work you can do other stuff yourself. You will get a lot of terraforming systems, replicators and so on from it.
The contraband you can either use for dilithium or sell it on exchange.
You can keep an eye open for the Alien Artifact mission too which gives you a decent amount of EC on the exchange too or if you feel lucky try to get a good console out of it and sell it for much more.
There's still enough EC around that players will keep on buying your stuff from the exchange because the only way the pool of EC is drained when someone buys stuff like commodties from an NPC. The exchange is just shuffling EC around between the players.

This sounds as complicated as time consuming. For the benefit of players, please explain more on these methods, specifically running supports, asylums, flight training, nadorc, strike against... I haven't heard half of these and I been playing for a year+. If you don't want reveal more in forum, mail me the details how these things work.
Some good tips there for KDF's, not essentially helpful for feds. I notice KDF tends to be were the best chances for wealth are though.
I don't see the problem.
You can tranfer almost everything which is not bound from one side to the other.
And while the KDF doff missions are running you can do your stuff on the FED side.
And don't tell me you have only FED chars, which would be your problem.
Ec are worthless in this game, except what you 1% ers seem to attribute to it by charging bazillions for consoles that dont actually give any benefit over the blue version. Oh, you call it free market.. others call it exploitation.
Well, I guess a bit of your "free market" got regulated. Gonna have to deal with it. Maybe the plebes who dont farm these EC generating events can get a chance to participate in an economy that isnt inflated beyond their reach by the ultra-rich.
Not that there's any reason to... the economy in STO has been for the exploiters and the rich from the start... maybe this is a change in the wind? Doubtful, but who knows.

What of the people who are saving for ships? not everyone is wasting millions on consoles ._.
3 mil for one hour of flying in circles?
sorry but... running in circles pressing F... NO... just NO!
and 3 mil for one hour of that is a JOKE!
DOffing is where the EC is.
If one source of EC is gone you will soon enough find another good one.
of course that requires a good pipeline (lots of purple doffs and lots of high level characters to start stuff multiple times), it takes time to build that up, but so far doffing has always resulted in enough EC for me to just buy all of the LockBox Ships i wanted.
(granted i am too greedy to actually spend EC on any purple XII consoles)
Just produce what is required for the "flavor of the month"-item and sell it on the exchange, INSTEAD of using it yourself = PROFIT
just find a niche that works for you, optimize your workflow and just keep at it.
and if nothing else works you can still sell some DOffs
One thing that will soon disappear from doffing is the finding and selling of strange alien artifacts - or turning them into purple consoles - as cryptic is slowly making those consoles obsolete with fleet consoles - Neutronium/mono/RCS consoles now are obsolete compared to even Mk X gear from the mine.
If you don't know what daily ec needs are, I take it you haven't ever grinded reputation or werer in charge of a fleet, which btw takes billions to get to T5.
I have always made lots of EC doffing - I wonder when that shoe will drop.
That shoe dropped for hardcore doffing people the day the Risa Summer event came out although I can see them making one more change at some point this year just to put more hurt on us (that is not counting their "doff system improvements" they mentioned).
Basically, the developers seem to be on a massive EC farming witch hunt (Dil witch hunt = fleet holdings). For those who do the foundry farming (Ex. Admiral Bobo Goes to War) there is a thread where they are looking to fix missions like that one.

If they go after tac consoles in the next holding, I expect them to do the generic ones, not the energy type specific ones. If they do playable race specific ones, they might do disruptors and phasers. Not sure about plasma because of they add any more damage modifiers to that one, it will just push everyone towards those.

I would wager they will come out with at min phaser/disruptor/plasma/quantum/photon
but I would not put it past them to do the smart thing and release a console for every energy type
I wish the mining had a few more eng consoles - like a 45+ resist for plasma + the extra bonuses

No, it doesn't. The fleet holdings costs have been well documented, and the only way you could spend even one billion on it is if you were silly enough to buy from the wrong vendors.
"Participation in PVP-related activities is so low on an hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly basis that we could in fact just completely take it out of STO and it would not impact the overall number of people [who] log in to the game and play in any significant way." -Gozer, Cryptic PvP Dev
