The Pakled lockbox!
What would be the top prizes in it?
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

Rather than a cross faction console, it'll have a special console pack containing the Crimson Forcefield or Photonic Cannon (yes, I know this was Voyager, but it was effectively the same bluff). Neither power actually does anything unless used against a gullible race, in which case the ship will attempt to flee for 10 seconds. If both are equipped, vulnerable enemies will betray one another in an attempt to gain your favor.

    (*Dies laughing!!!*)
Just name it the "Oh TRIBBLE console"

I'd actually like to see maybe some other races ships that are currently Fed/Klin/or Rom allied, get some treatment, and some older class vessels from all 3 "empires", (Yes I know the UFP isn't an empire, technically, lol)
And while we're at it, maybe more Mirror variants? I think a Mirror Excelsior, for example, would be a hell of a lot of fun.

    http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Pakled_transport

"A Pakled transport was a type of freighter/transport vessel utilized by the Pakleds during the mid-24th century."

It should be able to equip any shield, engine, console, weapon, ect. But not very well.

Well I would like to see this in a new lock box

    A Klingon Kavort Battlecruiser

    A Federation Galaxy Class

    A Romulan Winged defender

Make them all have the same stats and be the best cruisers in the game
    5 weapon consoles
    4 engineering
    1 science

    Cmdr Tac
    Lt Tac
    Ens uni
    Lt Cmdr Eng
    Ens uni

    manoverability 7
    +15 power to weapons

I say they would outsell the JHAS because there all canon ships who have a huge fan following

So being the best ships in there class apply to the power gamers

Being Icon ships applys to the Trekkies/Fan's

there are too many overpowered alien ships in the game as it is, I think some of the canon ships should be in the lock box class
    Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
    Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng

JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse

What?! Who told you about the Pakled Lockbox!?

    :::sigh::: fine. . .

In response to the repeated claims that Cryptic is ignoring the RP community, the Pakled Lockbox is RP focused. It has a chance to unlock a single Pakled Transport. When equipped, you are moved to a random spot in Sector Space, and cannot move anywhere. You must hail passing ships, and emplore them to "Make Ship Go."

If a passing ship replies to your distress call, they will be offered an 8 hour Engineering focused Doff assignment to "Make Ship Go." Simultaneously, you will be offered a 8 hour Security Doff assignment. These two assignments have mutually exclusive success conditions. At the end of the Doff timers, your engines are restarted no matter who succeeds. If you succeed you capture the other person's Engineering Doff. If the passerby succeeds, they are rewarded with nothing. After this exchange you can go on your merry way. Once you've traveled 20-50 light years, your ship will break down again and you can repeat the process.

We know that it is a joke, but there is some serious potential in it as well for making a more engaging game play.

Yeah but i really would spend money for keys to get it and WOULD actually roll a pakled toon and sit in sector space sending distress hails hoping for the unwary to pass by and answer it.

would make for some fun STO ingame trolling pakled style :)

Make my ship "GO" problem? XD

that would be so much fun and it would be so pakled like and canon i wish they would actually do the pakled ship it would add so much tongue in cheek humor to the game :)

I really hope they don't make an Elachi lockbox. It would remove all scariness from that race.

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

Sorry Tacofang but instead of jokes you devs could repair bugs that have been reported even one and a half years ago, for example permamute chat-bug. Or at last regularly informed players about any developments in that field.

And this right here is why a lot of Dev's don't post on the forums. take a close look at his signature. it says "the ARTIST formerly known as TumorBoy"

ARTIST. he does the pretty graphical stuff, not coding. so don't go complaining about soemthing he doesn't work on when he posts something. complain to him about art problems that haven't been fixed in a year and a half, learn what teams work on what systems so you can complain to the right people. One Dev doesnt work on every single bit of the game. What you jsut did was akin to yelling at JamJams (a ship maker) to fix a bug that prevents a mission from advancing properly.

I'm awere of the fact that Taco is artist, but he still is a dev. He maybe not working at this field, but he still work with people who does. And as those devs don't visit forum, only way to get to them is through those devs who read our posts. So sorry, but collective responsibility.

...Adding to the fun of our new lock box how about Pakled Gear!

Pakled Gear (weapons, consoles, kits, etc...)

All gear is generically Labeled and highlighted in Red. All gear is usable at any rank, and levels up in accordance. All gear is completely randomly variable once installed.

    For instance: Pakled Cannon
It might be a single cannon....maybe a heavy cannon....random remember? "its a gun that shoots at things"
It has random abilities being a mix of combined technology slapped together by Pakled Engineers. For example: A phaser beam, that does tetyron damage, uses a plasma burn and has a distruptor beam color.
They have a minimum of 3 special abilities...also randomly determined.

    THE CATCH
They have something built into them like a Ferengi Gambling Device. At the start of each mission the Gambling device goes off. If its a success the weapon works, if it fails the device critically fails and becomes unusable. It can then ONLY be removed from the ship after doing the "Make ship go mission" or ("Unbreak ship mission"), visiting a spacedock or finding a Pakled freighter* to sell it to.

*Caution: See the Pakled freighter as listed above in TacoFang Post)

    OPTIONAL:
If we have Pakled Doffs being offered in the Box throw in a Doff mission called "Hit with Hammer" requiring a Pakled Doff with Dumb Luck. This will allow the player to restore the Pakled weapon to functionality, but it re-randomizes and still cannot be removed.

    Cheers! :D

OR....we can just go with this wonderful idea for a lock box
