Suggestion - make changing between ships and builds easier

Most folks who have been playing a while have several ships they like to take out for a spin now and then (carriers, escorts, cruisers, etc.) just to change up the gameplay a bit and add a little spice. Currently, however, when you change your ship, you have to reset all the station assignments, tray skills, etc. each and every time. Quite frankly, it is a pain to do all those reassignments - especially knowing you have to do it again just to return to your favorite ship when you're done.

Even if you don't have an armada of ships you like to change between, you may have a favorite ship but different builds you like to use depending on the foe you're facing - say in STF's or PvP. Again, it would be nice to be able to save and load those different builds rather than have to recreate them each and every time.

Could you add a feature where you basically 'save' your station assignments for BOFFs and tray skill assignments for each ship - either automatically when you change ships or save in a way similar to the 'saved costumes' so that you can save (and load) different favorite builds for each ship?

Ultimately it would be nice to also save favorite equipment build-outs, too, but even if you could just save the station assignments and tray skill assignments for each ship, it would be a HUGE improvement and time-saver.

Thanks for your consideration!

Actually, I think it does save the layout, at least it looks like it does for me anyway.

Perhaps it's just a bug for me and my friend, then. But I have to reset everything each time. Perhaps I need to report it as a bug then?

We have been asking for this for many many years, and Cryptic keep saying it's something they really want to do.

By default, now, the ship will save your bridge officer layout when you switch ships.... Sometimes. Re-training any boff will mess it up, as will even changing the order of some. It's hit and miss, sometimes it saves and sometimes it doesn't. It pretty consistantly saves your bridge officer layout but rarely (but on occasion it does succeed) saves your ability tray.

We need a system which saves: Bridge Officer Layout, Ability Tray, Active Duty Officers.

All of those things, in on neat package. YES PLEASE!

I would not mind seeing a system where you assign a boff to a specific ship. That boff stays with that ship until you unassign him. This way you could set up different ships with different builds and wouldn't have to remember which officers you had where. The down side for players would be running out of boffs. the up side for Cryptic would be that more players might be encouraged to by boff slots.

Best way to implement this is to put BOFF and DOFF "slots" on the ship layout screen, instead of trying to manage multiple ships from your (single) character screen. It should be an easy thing to do.

The way it is now makes it irritating to switch between complex builds that have radically different setups (IE, an engineer with a dual-AtB cruiser and a torpedo boat with different BOFFs and DOFFs). It is one of those things that limits the amount of time I spend in the game, because its too irritating to deal with.
