New Ideas

I have some ideas I hope will make us feel more at home aboard our ships. I'm sure everyone is tired of seeing the same old interior design for the crew and engineering decks for most ships. What I'm thinking to begin with is the Captain's Quarters, it's so simple and general with no places to interact with in the room. Trophy and Accolade reward setups would help, furniture options would give us the ability to make each captain's quarters more unique to each captain in his or her own liking. The second thing on my mind is a few more decks to explore and interact with. Take for example the Galaxy Class Refit with the Saucer Separation, let us be able to see the Battle Bridge. For all ships let us explore our respective shuttle bays and flight decks where we house our fighters, yachts and shuttles. There is so much potential here so why pass it up? I'm sure the development team will read this so I ask them this, can you please think these ideas over?

Some spaces for accolades and ground trophies in my quarters would be nice.

And a gun rack for my personal weapons. :D

Those are perfect, and think maybe they could also put in a pool table at Ten Forward and in the Captain's Quarters you can set up a Tri-Dimensional Chess set.

I support this. Being able to customize my quarters would be a very welcome addition, as long as the customization is extensive (walls with paint colors -- which MUST surpass the limited color palette in the Klingon tailor!!! -- and wall papers to choose from, various options for furniture style and furniture color and furniture material, the chance to collect various items to display -- like a Horga'hn being there permanently on a shelf or desk or whatever -- tapestries, sculptures, etc -- and almost all of it should be able to be recolored to any color, shade, and hue we would like).

It would also be very nice if I could make the inside of my Koro't'inga (skinned with the D7 skin) look more like the "ChR Memenda" (non-canon name, but the only name we have for that Romulan D7 flagship) under the command of Di'on Charvon (later Liviana Charvanek -- neither of these names are canon, but again, apart from "Romulan Mini Skirt Commander," and a rather generic "Thea," these are the only names we have for that character) in "The Enterprise Incident."

I also want to be able to set up floor trophies in the mess hall of my Romulan ships. I have seen no attempt at excusing or explaining this omission, and it's obviously ridiculous, since I earn floor trophies but can only display them on my Klingon-made vessels, where I can only display an excessively limited number of Klingon ships as wall trophies (not even the Kamarag or Koro't'inga/D7 -- ships I own!!!).

Even on the Federation ship interiors, the Captain's Quarters is all Blech looking. Who would want brown sofa chairs, yickidy yuck yuck :( what would even make the game more interesting is having families aboard ship, in-game marriage between players to give it a sort of role-play feel. those would be nice too. Lets not forget having a couple more decks to explore either, I want to see my shuttle bay :(

Expanded interiors would be nice, with the addition of an "Officer of the Watch" type mission once a day aboard our own ships, (report to shuttle maintenance bay, explore that jefferies tube, etc..)

i remember from two years ago, i made a suggestion of opening all decks of every ship class to us and many actually complained because the Galaxy class has 42 decks if i remember right. but yea at least a couple more decks, in-game marriage, families aboard ship, interior decorating for various rooms. it can be done, it will just take a little time. and please everyone, don't be afraid to make your own ideas. i made this thread for that very reason :)

Where do you live bro...I"m coming to your town to personally buy you a beer and Ferrari.

I think cryptic is scared to do many of these things because we're not throwing enough real world money at cryptic. Truth be told, the more things we could do on your ships the more immersive the game would be. Then space travel won't be so pointless.
One day Cryptic will be free from their Perfect World overlord. Until that day comes, they will continue to pamper the whales of this game, and ignore everyone that isn't a whale.

    I don't drink beer but i wouldn't mind Sasperilla :P

in all seriousness we all have some excellent idea and i agree with you ataloss cryptic is scared because like i said, 2 years ago when i suggested full access to a ship's entire interior with every deck open to all captains they thought i was crazy and said it would be too much work and strain on the server. since we're now on the subject of ships does anyone have their own ideas?

I don't know the level of strain it will put on the server, but I'm sure that they can find a way around it. So far many people don't spend time inside of the ship because their isn't enough to do inside.

If it were (for the sake of argument) a Sim city inside the ship, I can understand the strain on the server, but I don't see how a bunch of levels and other things will cause a strain. It's not like everyone will spent 4 straight hours inside of their ship running around.

Lastly, I think we should have these inside our ships

    1. An Hangar that shows our carrier pet and some mechanics working on the ships.
    2. A shooting range
    3. Inside the hangar, we can choose to fly our carrier pet instead of our ship.
    4. An exchange/ mail console (yeah I know it's crazy but it'll lessen the strain on the space stations having to house so many people at once).
    5. A section of the ship where we can craft things (instead of having to go to a space station).

The reason I would like to see less on a space station and more on our ship is because on the show, the ships are out in space for long periods of time. I'd like to only have to go
    to a space station because:

    1. Major ship repair
    2. Pick up new Academy recruits
    3. Being hailed by a Admiral
    4. Just want to hang out with other people.
One day Cryptic will be free from their Perfect World overlord. Until that day comes, they will continue to pamper the whales of this game, and ignore everyone that isn't a whale.

I would not mind having a warship interior, as it is my ship interior looks like a cruise liner.

I want to change the fish in my ready room, as well as the paintings (i.e. preferably to a ship that I own). Also, as my character is a Vulcan, I'd like a desert-y feel to the quarters.

Customise bridges, engineering, etc, would be cool. As well as other rooms in the ship (cargo bay, holodeck).

this is a thread for posting ideas, not negative address. please don't post in my thread again .

everyone else, i'm liking the ideas i'm hearing. you have excellent ideas and i say we should have all these ideas put in, if can ask a developer to read this thread then maybe our thoughts will be heard :)

I support these ideas whole heartedly on the ground when my friend David passed away (long time ST fan) the loss of immersion in STO (especially my bridge) totally ruined mourning his death for me, and I only have Cryptic to blame for that..

..just too bad we weren't quite there David... money just got in the way.

On my Fed characters I do have the TOS era interior which at first was great and got even better when they finally changed it so the crew walking around were in the same era uniforms. I actually ran around my ship looking around like a doofus I was that excited. I would love to see the same sort of options for the Klingons and Romulans as well as allow more customization for the Captain's ready room and quarters.

Equally I'd love to be able to have the non-combat pets that aren't active be able to roam around the ship.

I have some other ideas as well which shouldn't be to difficult to implement for our ship interiors.

      1. Upon entering a Sector Block, we receive a distress call. It's a survivor of a friendly ship. They've been ambushed and they desperately need to board our ship for recovery. Upon answering the call we have to navigate to our hangar or sick bay to ask some questions to find out what happened. This would add more immersion to the game (and allow foundry players to make missions based on our ship interior).

      2. We need an armory. Where all of our past ground kits, armor, shields and weapons can be stored and we can select from them prior to each away team.

      3. Because we have so many weapons amassed, we can arm each away team member in our armory. Then send them away (without us needing to be their). Or practice in the shooting range or a holodeck prior to starting a major mission. Again this would add more immersion into the game.

      4. I'd like to see a war room. A room where we can discuss intergalactic plans or operation ideas. For example, while you have a visiting dignitary on your ship, they wish to speak to you in the room. Their you have a chance to either:

A: talk them out of a full scale invasion plan involving a fleet. If they are stubborn and choose the fleet, the game will allow your actual fleet members to take part.

B: Send you and your ship to covertly take care of the problem.

C: You talk the dignitary out of any military operation. Instead you choose the pace keeping route and provide needing supplies to the planet or send an away team for a long term deployment.

I have more ideas but I'm afraid cryptic won't hire me, I might make this post to long an bore you all and this thread will continue to go ignored.

No I am not talking about giving every ship a bay to launch shuttles/fighters. I mean it as an inventory type tab for all non-combat pets. Lets free up our inventory and bank slots. please!!

I think the simple fix would be treat custom ship interiors (ONLY INTERIORS) like foundry maps. let the player buy a slot for custom interior and have them build it to their liking. test it out then save it to your pc only not the game server. you enter the bridge and it loads your map. you invite a person to the bridge they would have get the map from you .

      1. this allows them to save space.
      2. generates them money because we had to buy the custom interior slot.
      3. saves them the time of having to anything other than getting the interface to work from the visit ship bridge command.
      4. and shuts people up that want custom interiors.

could you be anymore negative? "shuts people up that want custom Interiors"? what the bloody hell is this? unless you have something constructive to say in my threat do not post in this thread at all. i made this thread so i'm the one setting the rules for it, you can't follow them then don't bother posting. they have some possibilities already being thought over, like fighting alongside our starships while we're in our shuttles so we have every right to ask for more for our ship's interiors.

ohh calm down feddy bear. tell me if you got the custom interior. would it not shut you up about asking for it?

just because you think the words were harsh does not make them less true. seems the only part you read in my post the shut you up part.

I agree interiors would be nice for those that want it. some don't care. personally I want them. at the vary least custom captains cabin.

so stop preaching to me feddy Bear, just because you think I offended you personally in some way. I was agreeing with you.

I have a question about the custom interiors.

If it's been asked about for so long why hasn't any developer (as far as I know) come forward to say yes it will happen or no it won't? I'm reading through a lot of posts on this forum with a multitude of good ideas, but most of them are redundant, no developer has given input on the status of said ideas from the community.

Are we all just left to keep asking/wishing for custom interiors and other things without anyone whom works fro cryptic acknowledging our comments?

agreed. wanna custom interior? build it by yourself in an foundry- similar interface.

it would spare the server load, give them money, the RP's would have a playground, and other peeps would not be concerned by this.

Customizing ship interiors is a 'natural step' in the progression of 'these games' since people like to customize their characters - they want and or 'need' the ability to customize their ship and their ships interior.

But to do this - requires a lot of time and resources, and it needs to 'fit inside' the current 'system.' Since it can and will be a zen generating addition to the game, it should happen. It's just more of a question of when and how far we're able to customize it.
