I want something that feels like my character really has grown and changed, for better or worse. I want a mission that is quintessential Trek.
I had a thought for a once a year special event mission that is fully optional, and comes with a dire warning: taking this mission will incur an enormous cost. The reward should equal the cost (an insanely overpowered thing perhaps that can never be obtained in any other way), but the cost should be very real and tangible nonetheless. The loss I would suffer would be permanent. No going back, only forward.
I want a mission that forces me to do
this.
No respawn. No returning to the status quo five seconds after the mission ends. What I have is gone and I either have to
buy another or turn my back on it. And it has to be my choice to go through with it after sufficient warning of the consequences.

You need to prepare yourself for mean, aggressive counter insults.
Just giving you a head up about what I receive.
I hope STO get's better ...
this game is not setup for what you want.. what would keep you from doing this risky mission with a mirror ship.. one that costs less then 100k on exchange and can be replaced easy..
[12:44] Vessel One of Two Unimatrix 01 deals 1019527 (1157678) Kinetic Damage to you with Plasma Energy Bolt Explosion.
..or you can always delete your own character to simulate your own death.
next?

Discharging my own ship wouldn't feel the same. I want the epic cinematic. I want the emotional resonance of the experience. Hell, the reward might as well be a ship token or something to choose your own ship of any kind, from fleet to lockbox to c-store.
Need something else to lose than a ship... But something that won't TRIBBLE me off so bad I want to quit.

Just an idea.
Nuff said.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to rescue cadets from a baffle plate rupture spewing delta radiation on a training vessel. Before you accept, you may wish to test drive your consolation prize, a lovely wrap-around wheelchair, complete with state-of-the art brainwave communication device. Please beep once for acceptance, and twice for rejection of the mission. :P
Anywho, I am against such an idea. I don't like the idea of spending weeks/months on a character just to risk everything I've worked so hard for just to get some fancy special reward. I don't think other players would appreciate such a punishment for making a mistake in the game. I'm sure some have characters they've worked on since the game launched over 3 years ago.
