Version of Borg Warp Core and Shrapnel Torpedo for Task Force Omega Reputation

I would like to state my displeasure at the fact that the decision was made to make the Adapted Borg Warp Core and Shrapnel Torpedo Launcher exclusive to the Tal Shiar lockbox ships, and would like to propose a way of making them available for use on other starship types.

This especially goes for the warp core, as it is something that many players have been asking for for a long time now. Not letting them use it in some form on their other ships is a tad bit unfair. Not to mention, the shrapnel torpedo is something that I have been longing for the ability to use since launch, and am greatly dismayed that I cannot use it on any ships other than the Tal Shiar lockbox ships.

How I would like to see these two pieces of gear added for other ships to use is through the Task Force Omega reputation system, like with the Assimilated Module, Kinetic Cutting Beam, and Omega Plasma Torpedo Launcher. Either that or make it a store unlock once a player has acquired the corresponding parts from the Tal Shiar ships.

To balance the "Omega Shrapnel Torpedo", it could be made to function in a similar way to the Omega Plasma Torpedo. It would be a weapon slot item and use ammunition charges, and could be modified by torpedo-affecting skills. As for the damage, the variance would have to be cleaned up, but the upwards limit of its base power would need to be lowered to compensate for being able to be equipped to any type of starship. The Tal Shiar/Narada swarm attack would be ability exclusive, like the Plasma Energy Bolts (AKA the "V'Ger vaporization ball") on high-yielding an Omega Plasma Torpedo. However, instead of the special attack being activated by Torpedo - High Yield, it would be activated by Torpedo Spread.

As for the warp core, I'm not sure why it's limited to the Tal Shiar ships, as other warp cores can have almost the exact same stats minus the +15 to Starship Hull Repair. If that addition makes it unbalanced, perhaps the hull repair bonus could be moved over to a new console for the Task Force Omega version. If it's too weak, perhaps it could be boosted in some way. Possibly by having different versions from Mk X to Mk XII.

My original concept from several months ago was for an "Adapted Borg Hull Reinforcements" armor console, which would carry the hull repair bonus plus a completely new visual effect (from Donatra's Assimilated Scimitar). There was at least one other console from this concept (which would use the visual from the Assimilated Carrier) and both consoles would have had Mk X-XII versions, but that is not entirely relevant to this thread.

No set bonus is necessary for these pieces of gear, so long as they can be made available to other ships in a relatively balanced fashion.

The all-ship version of the Shrapnel Torpedo Launcher would be much weaker than the original, but give out a relatively trimmed-down damage variance for more consistent DPS. I want this thing to be balanced.

Not even a comment about how this is "selfish" and a "bad idea"? I'm disappointed.

Perhaps I should instead focus on working to get an Omega version of the warp core added, and shift the all-ship torpedo version of the Shrapnel Torpedo over to being a Dilithium Store item, like the andorian phasers and spiral wave disruptors.

Sure, the devs have stated "not a chance" for the Borg Warp Core being *part* of an existing set, but they haven't said no just yet to it being part of a different one. I still want to see a version of it that can be equipped to any starship, which might require a singularity core version for Romulan ships.

This idea is bad because it is selfish.

Your desire to play this game stems from a self serving need to enjoy yourself. This sickens me and makes all your ideas bad.

    Better?

Altho I hear that the torpedo is useless, but I have the Battle cruiser and that indoctrination thing is prety sweet.

Really? Well, it's a shame to hear that the thing is actually useless, when the information makes it look like it's supposed to be godly powerful. I was basing my request off of that, and it appears I was misinformed.

It looks like I need to change my stance from "nerf the torpedo for the all-ship version so that it's balanced" to "just fix the dang thing so that it isn't broken and then make a fair all-ship version".

EDIT: I'll let this drift off the first page, and then I'll make a new thread for an all-ship Borg warp core that doesn't require being part of an existing set. I'd rather the all-ship shrapnel torpedo be a dilithium store item, like the other lockbox ship weapons.

no just no the warp core SHOULD be the adapted ships only because i like to think that the hole ship is powerd difrently wich is what makes it able to power the warp core and the torpedo has only ever been seen on THAT one ship so it should stay the same i would like to see it powerd up a bit since it dosent make a noticable difrence but not moved to other ships

I disagree. Those Borg Warp Cores are something that make the Tal Shiar lock box ships special. If everyone will be able to get it, it would devalue those ships: they would simply be Romulan looking ships available to captains of all species. Lock Box ships should have a more exclusive feature, like those warp cores.

Otherwise, what would be the point in getting or trying to get a lock box ship? I paid money to get a special ship (got both the Destroyer and the Battle Cruiser), if it won't be special anymore, it'll mean I've paid for a normal Romulan ship, and that's something I would not have paid for.

Not everything has to be available to everyone. It's the same with the JH Dreadnought and it's special attack ships: those should be reserved to a few lucky players, or a few players who paid a lot of money to acquire said ships. STO is a game where everyone can get good gear and good ships, but if everyone would be able to get all the special items as well, it would simply devalue those items too much.
