New ship event and a bit more.

So I read the new interview with Al Rivera (Star Trek Online's Lead Designer) and it made me think of a couple of things. http://massively.joystiq.com/2013/07/15/captains-log-interview-with-star-trek-onlines-al-rivera-part/

First I would love to have an in game explanation for why the STO universe did not become the JJ universe. So far all I can think of is that the player is sent to stop Nero and somehow keeps him from going back in time. This mission would also have the player save Spock from getting pulled back into time. Mission could involve a space battle with the "Narada" and a ground fight with Nero on board the ship where you end up setting the ship's self destruct so that it blows up just before it goes into the black hole.

Also we should get Spock's Jellyfish ship in the game. It could be the reward for completing this mission. Maybe use this as the 4 year anniversary mission??

JJcrap is a parallel universe that has diverged from the main timeline. That was explained a billion times since the movie and STO came out.

love the idea of that scenario/mission...
however, the timeline STO is set in, does not need to be affected if you consider multiverse theory
Every event in time, branches off a twig to a different reality from that point on. So the events around the hobus nova and cpt. nero triggered a different reality that is actually completely seperate from STO's reality.

changing the past does not necessarely affect your present like it does in back to the future...this is also one possibility. What is actually the truth is hard to find out, since nobody can travel into the past and try.

The only way the JJ verse affected our (STO, TNG, TOS etc.) universe was that Spock, the Jellyfish, Nero, the Narada and her crew left, presumably with no hope of return for Spock who is now stuck with his parallel younger self.

Don't forget that he blew up our Romulus.

Personally (and I know it's probably totally wrong), I find it easier to think of the JJverse like this:

When Spock and Nero travelled through the black hole, they didn't end up in the prime universe in the past....they ended up in the alternate universe........get me??

So rather than thinking of the black hole as a time travel thingamajig......think of it as a universal transported thingamajig.

The supernova destroyed Romulus, which would have happened regardless of what Spock did (but if you mean JJ blew it up, then yes, he did).

Of course I'm talking about JJ. (And Spock could have saved Romulus if the Vulcan science council would have given him access to red matter earlier, but then Abrams wouldn't have been able to wreck two Star Trek universes at once.)

"He admits that some of the Tal Shiar lockbox ships have a Narada (Nero's ship in the Abrams' film Star Trek) style, but that's only because the Narada was technically built in the Prime Universe, as was Spock's uniquely styled Jellyfish shuttle. Rivera told me that the most likely ship we might see is the Jellyfish for that reason alone, but the team just can't simply move forward; approval would still need to be sought."

So in our universe we stopped Nero and in another he was able to go back. Parallel would still be in effect. Also it looks like the Jellyfish is already a ship they hope to introduce to the game. I'm just offering a way to do it. I welcome your ideas on how to do so.

No. It was built in the prime timeline, went to the past and created the parallel timeline there.

I don't understand Why Nero didnt use the knowledge of the red matter to help the new romulans in the alt universe after he gave them the secret of red matter then he could have then went on his vengeance spree. Because now the Hobus supernova may still happen in the alt universe as well.

Blinded by rage. he could have done a large number of things but he was to angry to really think about it. My personal choice had I been him would have been to take his ship to the JJ Romulans for study and reverse engineering which would have given them a huge technological edge in the galaxy.

Is this a thread to anger the cannon followers? If so in one universe Spock and Kirk are lovers having space sex on the bridge of the enterprise daily, and in another Kirk is a homeless man begging for coins while Spock is picking his nose and flicking the boogers at anyone that walks past him. JJ's version is no less valid than any other considering in an infinate universe anything is possible, then add in an infinate number of realities....

OT: Cryptic should just use those points and just start making alternate reality ships that are similar and yet differant mirror universe is but one reality amongst an infinate number of so theres an infinate number of ships available. Just need the Lobi consortium or Quark enterprises to get the ships across dimensions for us captains to use.

Exactly it would have made the romulans so Overpowered they would have rules the galaxy taking out the Klingons and federation with a fleet of borg modified ships with red matter weaponry
