I was wondering if this was a decent Science Vesta layout for a science captain. I mostly Solo PVE with some STF and PVP everyone in a while. I would prefer to use the science version for my science character.
I am Using all mission rewards as my science character just got to level 50 and I really have not done anything with Rep yet. I also was thinking about using the exchange, but I think it would be a waste of money knowing that all that money will just be going to waste once i get better version of the item and i will probably not have enough money to get the best stuff right away. I do not really know what warp core to use for this ship though i am guessing overcharged would be good as it increases aux power.
I also know about the 10K DPS vesta thread, but it seems to require rep gear and/or very rare doffs to work properly.
thanks for any help

You did well with the choice of phaser turrets to complement the DHCs. However, don't the distributed tactical consoles you have only enhance beam weapons? You'd get much better results slotting phaser boosters instead, heck, 3 Mk XI or XII whites would do the job while you attempt to find better as loot.
Second question is do you have just the Vesta, or the full 3 pack? The deflector phaser console off the Aventine model is quite useful in a console slot for the larger targets you run into during STFs, etc. With a decent team, the transformers in ISE lose life like a sphere under CRF while the deflector phaser is firing...
As far as science consoles go, I'd recommend a 2/2 or 3/1 split of particle generator consoles (enhance the science damages) to go with the graviton generator or two. Either that, or if you find survivability an issue, slot a pair of field enhancers (regen rate boosters) with particle generators. Grab the -threat ones if you're in a fleet that has a decent embassy...
Last question, why Tractor Beam III? I usually run TB I, and would strongly recommend/consider adding a second hazard emitters as a hull heal. EPtS I/II and TSS I should handle most of your shield healing needs, remember to save the tac team for when under heavy fire...
And yes, a solid overcharged warp core's aux boost is a godsend for this ship. Splurge here if you can afford it, try to make sure it has [A->W] to help your turrets, and if you can afford a purple with the aux capacitor you'd be even better off.

Thanks a lot, yeah just looked it up it does only effect beams, I guess I can hope that whites are cheap enough for me to get enough. I have the 3 pack was thinking of using 1 or 2 of the science console slots for 1 or 2 of the special consoles. I was going to go something like that for the consoles, but none of the missions rewards for Feds are those. (same with turrets, i only actually have white MK 9 right now) Tractor beam 3 is only there because I always seem to see people use Hazard Emitters, Science Team, and Transfer Shield Strength at rank 1 or 2 so I just assumed they were more efficient.
it needs those to work as 10k dps (tho with faw spam you need less effort)
revised skillplanner
no rep items. what I left out console, is the fermion field (didnt care to find it), and the rest you should get at the lvl you can afford.
the shields and engines are not bad, tho I would change to the jem hadar, if you want a free one
run full aux power, and second highest should be weapons. if you have tanking problems change to energy siphon cycling, with elite warpcores it should be great
as far as warpcores go, get an a->w one (theres one on the dil store)
the skills I did not check, cause I dont have the time atm

Otherwise switch to a torp boat setup and it is simple. With not having the rep stuff like romulan torp and beam, etc you still go with plasma.
Front weapons: Disruptor beam array mk xi or mk xii, 2x plasma torpedoes launchers
Aft: 1 or 2 plasma mine, 1 or 2 plasma torpedoes launchers (its up to you)
(all weapons very rare quality)
tac consoles: 3x ambiplasma envelope rare mk xi (higher if you can afford)
Eng: No need for change
Sci: Fermion, plasmonic (if you can afford), 3x particle
Warp core: Overcharged with an A->E (rare quality mk xi)
You should make your power levels Aux and Shields at 100, you do not care about the rest, though Eng should be above weapon.
Doffs: 2-3 torpedo reducers, 1 that enhances power levels (I do not remember the name) and 1 for the gravity aftershock. (Try to purchase if you do not have rare quality)
Boff's stations:
Lt. Tactical: THY 1 and 2
Ens. Eng: EptS
Lt. Eng: EptS, AuxtoSif
Lt.Com Sci: TSS, ST, ES
Com. Sci: PH, HE, PS, GW (Instead of photonic shockwave you can use Tractor beam Repulsors if you can use them correctly)
Note: Once you reach the necessary rep points you add the Romulan set (beam, torpedo, console), the Elite Scorpions and MACO set or Borg set.
KDF Eng: Boreas I.K.S. Demonon Nemesis {Fleet: HoS}
Rom Sci: Crius I.R.W. Noctem Aeternus {Fleet: LoS}
Fed Tac: Kronos U.S.S. Xibalba, I.S.S. Theogonia{Fleet: HSF}
Thanks, but I do not have any of those special consoles besides the grappler and i would rather not waste Real money on a bunch of lock box keys to get them. The reason i asked about mission rewards or cheap stuff is so I can set up the vesta without wasting so much. I know i will not do 10K DPS with Basic stuff, this build would just be an intermediate build until i can get the better gear.
you can buy them off from the exchange, not too expensive, and they are hardly a waste, when they are the best of endgame (well, not all of them, some are outclassed by rep items, but they can be obtained for cheap EC)
explain this to me pls. there is no logical link from one to the other. losing one tac console means dhcs useless compared to torps why?

As i said in the first post, i would rather my science character use the science variance, i know it doesn't really matter, just a personal flavor thing.
Would the plasma-disruptors arrays work? I would rather use the Aux DHC's but if this build works I will try this.
and what should i put in the console slots until i can afford any of the stuff.
when I mean cheap, i mean less than 1 mill all together. My character just got to level 50 and I do not know what the best way to make credits are so I have only about 1 mil right now. I would check in-game but servers are down at the moment. also, did not mean the consoles were a waste of time, just meant trying to get enough money to get that stuff would be easier if i had a decent build to start off with using rewards and really cheap stuff and once I got the gear I need, then switch to a better build.
Sorry if I am being confusing.

Rom Sci: Crius I.R.W. Noctem Aeternus {Fleet: LoS}
Fed Tac: Kronos U.S.S. Xibalba, I.S.S. Theogonia{Fleet: HSF}
Before you make any build check the cost and see which is cheaper. Note down the prices and add them.
Plasma torp builds especially on pve (and pvp) are descent dps bringers.
Skill tree also is important.
My torp build http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/?build=ealo_0
Also the aft that is empty has the Nukara web mine. (I use the theta for pvp and Romulan console for pve)
KDF Eng: Boreas I.K.S. Demonon Nemesis {Fleet: HoS}
Rom Sci: Crius I.R.W. Noctem Aeternus {Fleet: LoS}
Fed Tac: Kronos U.S.S. Xibalba, I.S.S. Theogonia{Fleet: HSF}
if you cant afford it, just put on the vesta universal consoles, if you have the 3 pack. they are decent, until you get better.
romulan plasma is viable, especially since FAW spam is probably the highest DPS in the game atm (misleading, yes, but highest ).
still aux dhcs are great for you. you got them for free, and they are endgame weapons out of the box

I would vote for the above.
If you are going for the "Deflector phaser" (Quantum Field Focus Phaser (QFFP) from the Recon/Aventine vesta), it's best to use Phaser Relays ("phaser booster") in the Tactical console slots to help boost the QFFP. And since you have Phaser Relays, use the Phaser type weapons for the rest (like the Aux DHCs that come with the Vestas.) I found that the QFFP is very good on big unshielded targets like Transformers and Gates... works on Cubes too.
You can use whatever energy type of weapons you want, just make them all the same energy type and use Tactical consoles for THAT energy type. Even if they are "white" quality, it's better than nothing.
There is a lot of good stuff in the Episode Replays that is worth getting prior to getting the Reputation stuff. The Plasma-Disruptors from the Past Imperfect episode are close to the Romulan reputation weapons, just swapped for the energy type. As your Skill Planner build shows, the Breen ship set is good too.

If you can't afford much, use Common/white quality stuff and SELL IT when you can replace it when you can afford it. Once you equip anything Uncommon or better you cannot sell it on the Exchange.
Dareau, I believe that the "field enhancers" mentioned above are called Field Generators increase the shield's maximum capacity. The "aux capacitor" is the Booster Modulator? Could you elaborate on the names of the consoles. Thanks.
