Atmospheric Asault

is absolutely ridiculous. No wonder people aren't doing it. I just tried it again. 100% of the shots the enemies are firing hit everyone 100% of the time meanwhile the rest of our shots are missing them, even with +acc gear on everything. Add to that that your system cannot keep up with people leaving the thing. I just spent 10 minutes trying to salvage the event with 1 other person in there with me 1. Do us all a favor, make it pause new arrivals of enemies until there's a full party again. seriously.

There needs to be some kind of persistance to the grouping mechanism in the game. When someone leaves they need an immediate replacement. This was ridiculous.

I have noticed that. Also, the ceiling(sky) is so low you kan often find your self stuck in it.

Added: if even one person leaves, the optional bekomes impossible, not that it's easy to start with & the marks you get for the time invested are like 5, 10... heck, mayb less.

It's just a bad coded mission. The synapse is legit, jus poor management.

For what it's worth, I actually love the mission, but I also have to agree with the gripes here. The worst part when someone leaves: Knowing it's going to take you 10-20 minutes LONGER for LESS of a reward. Also, I understand you can't make a "ceiling" that reaches eternity, but it seems this "ceiling" is lower than the tallest building on the map. If we could just ricochet off it, it probably wouldn't be so bad, but getting stuck usually holds me back 5-15 seconds (depending on the angle I hit). If these two things were fixed, I'd daresay this is my favorite PvE mission.

yeah it was a good idea for a mission, but it sucks.. it could have been so much better..

This used to be my favorite Rommie mission, but lately I've experienced so many players that bail, it's unplayable. Just like the OP I was in match with one other person left (Maybe it was you? lol) and it dragged on forever and blew all the optionals. Then to add insult to injury we get 16 marks. Really? I could have read radiation reports for more. I couldn't figure out why the queue had such a wait time but we never got reinforcements. Needs a fix. And a tow cable :)

    Yes to all the above.

The idea is good the execution is horrible.

I will say that your really want point defence consoles if your going to do this one, I hear they make a huge difference.

Here are my most common experiences.

Full team, Elachi FIghters use their perfect aim and slaughter the less prepared players MULTIPLE times in a row.

Said Players bail. (about 40% of the runs I've been in are this)

partial team as someone bails as soon as the map loads. (30%)

Player(s) spawn and wait. Oh joy more leeching. (20%)

Awesome team, everyone's rocking point defense system and the Bio-neural warhead, Elachi are slaughtered (10%)

The fighters are way too overpowered, I've noticed.

That, and the honestly dismal reward.

Its a bit tough, especially the last few optionals but point defence consoles are your friend in this one if you have them.

The mission is awesome but requires specialized gear to complete the optionals.
if everybody is geared perfectly you can complete them with even just 3 players. Managed that once.

Anything AoE helps against teh fighters in my experience plus high damage torpedos to kill the walker fast once it's shields go down.

I have been thinking about doing the mission when I came back to the game with the comments here with people bailing in the game I don't see the point in dusting my Tholian Widow Fighter off to play it.

I agree, this mission is one of my favorites - I love "fighter combat" - so would love to see more on this scale - actually more to do with SHUTTLES and fighters altogether would be great.

I also however agree with the issues posted, the Ceiling on the map is just too low - it needs to be at least another 5km higher - (I should be able to get 10km away from the walkers by flying up and not hitting the zone edge) - and the issue where it is impossible to get the bonus if one person leaves, and the mission takes forever when that happens and you end up taking soooo much longer for so little reward.

One final piece of advice for improvement - it is also the ONLY STF that, upon completion, MOVES you to the location of the mission - so this is the ONE mission where you can't just que up, do the mission quick and pop back to where you were to continue on (unless you are doing the mission from a ground map)

I always sulk at missions like that one - my Fleet Nova class is small enough to enter a planet's atmosphere, so why can't I take THAT down there and teach those stupid walkers a lesson! ;)

I used to love it when someone would bring a full-size ship into the Vault, back when that worked; it made my fighter really feel like a fighter, zipping around escorting the capital ship.

Made for some epic fun! That was one thing I did NOT want Cryptic to fix. :(

By that logic I should be able to bring my Defiant, and rain death upon the Elachi.

The two times i managed to get my Defiant in that was one of the things I liked. Those four little ships flying around me picking things off while I took care of swarms or the big ships.

3 very good paragraph. I hope they do adhere to an overall with this mission. There aren't many shuttle related things & I too got a Thoilan Fighter.

The balance for this mission is just somewhere in the negatives but the theme is sooo good.

I broke down and bought a Distuptor Point Defence Turret, partially for these type of events and partly to up my offense potiential period. I was fighting Romulan De'Derix and unleash the turret and after it died and turned to face the mogai and found that his shields were nearly down on one facing thanks to the turret. Lots of fun even if the energy still falsely looks like phasers which is actually kindvof cool.

This was not in AA, that will have to wait for Monday.
