Clockin' the Drone

Anybody know how the DPS of the various Rom Drones are stacking up?

I have the blue(rare) ones you buy for 4096 credits, and they clock out about 1.8k or so, a bit less than my Elite Scorps do on my other ships (around 2.3k).

I am just wondering if I will need to bribe a Science 5 fleet, or just grind rep for more Elite Scorps.

I'm not entirely sure how you calculate their DPS, but my advanced drones, by damaging abilities/torpedoes alone in ISE, have clocked in an average of 2-3k dps, not including the damage that their confuse causes the targets to do to others.

For elaboration, these are the ones you can buy in the Dil store.

I think I must have the white ones.. Stoics only clocks em in at an average of 720 with a spike here and there up too 13K. I'm suspecting that Stoics is doing something differently than the parsers used by others though. The probes were not constantly firing throughout the mission and were not always there because of being destroyed. I suspect that Stoics is using the entire mission as a time line and dividing up any damage done across that entire timeline giving it an extremely inaccurate report. I'm not sure i can take a wild guess and even be in the ballpark, but with a max of 13K and a minimum of 720 then we can assume that the average dps for the probes is going to be somewhere between 4K - 6K. Of course, like i said, thats a wild guess, and using the same wild guess method that would put my scimitar well over 5K dps closer to 10K. So I dont know..

The Advanced Romulan Drone ship is extremely powerful and outstrips the Elite Scorps. The Elite Scorps get to use Torp High Yield I which produces their High Yield Plasma Ball but that is destroyable and slow and even though the Scorps hit rather hard they use Cannons and fail to keep the target in their sight very well.

The Drones use Beam Arrays (Three of them) and a Plasma Torp just like the Scorps but their Beam Overload II can strip shields fast (Especially if they are mimicking something with Tetryons at the time), their Beam Fire at Will II can clear tons of spam of all kinds, and their Emergency Power to Shields II can keep them alive. Their Scramble Sensors is murder on enemy groups especially as you cloak and decloak. I have seen these things by THEMSELVES rip apart a well built Odyssey and many an NPC ship.

Even if you had 2 bays of Scorps it would not be as good as 2 bays of Drones.

Yeah... those drones are killer. And they're fun to watch. There is nothing more amusing than seeing a tac cube getting slapped by probes. They do hit pretty hard, average around 740 per BA shot (ironically higher than some cruisers I see out there), and they do have torps. Mine usually clock in for around 1500 DPS (I still have the habit of redeploying them at random, need to lose that), and they can EASILY destroy most NPC squadrons by themselves.

THEM DRONES OP. And fun. They also can take on almost any other hangar and win. I've seen them tear apart widow fighters, peregrines, Fer'jai, Mesh Weavers, etc. It was quite amusing.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once. B)

I personally have the Elite Drones, and ACT was clocking them at 3.7k dps. I was running the advanced prior and their dps was clocking in around 2.5k range. So seems to fall in line with the numbers everyone else was getting.

But the Elites run FAW3, BO3, and Sensor Scramble 2.......they are evil. Had the misfortune of fighting another Scim running elites as well, every time we'd come out of cloak. Scramble.

I found that the drones were doing a massive chunk of damage yesterday, cant remember the exact figures, but it was impressive, need to sort ACT out tonight so it shows actual DPS rather than the overall encounter dps.

I believe Elite Orion Slavers have been clocked at 4300 dps which appears to be higher then Droneships.

I found this odd at first until I realize combined 6 elite slavers have as many disruptor arrays as two drone ships combined, but on six different ships vs two which means unlike drone ships slavers don't have to worry about energy drain, the droneships do. Plus 2 plasma torpedoes vs 6 photon torpedoes. Plus Elite Slavers have Quantum Mines vs. Beam Overload and Fire At Will, well the Drone Ships win that one.

Still the higher hull per ship and fire at will help to give a major advantage to the drone ships in any hangar fight between the two.

The one pets likely to be a challenge for the Drone Ships are Orion Armoured Maurading Force Shuttles.

They're armoured so they can take some damage and the constant boarding parties could crippling. The problem is the shuttles are only armed with disruptors pulse cannons no other weapons so killing the Droneships even if shields drop will be a challenge.

I have no DPS numbers. but I've seen my advanced drones take out normal enemies like neghvars and even tholian recluse on their own while i just sit there cloaked. it's very impressive.

    can't wait to get elites!

The only situation where Energy Drain could be a problem for hangar pets is if they get into an Aceton Assimilator's 5km radius and stay there.
Of course, that's likely to be overshadowed by the problem that they are attacking it and blowing themselves up by doing so (which is more of an issue for the lower-hull fighters.)

The energy drain isn't major problem, over 3 beam arrays that's only -20 weapon power compared tova beam boat cruisers -70 to weapon power.

Still that's four percent of damage lost for every point of weapons power lost. The slavers only have one beam each so they don't lose any weapons power they they dealing full possible disuptor array damage. It might not be a huge difference, but when add it to a constant barrage of photons torps and the occasional quantum mine it adds.

But the Droneships would be better soloing actual ships because they can take more damage.

-20, then -50 from Overload. Most NPC ships are 50 all areas-it should be throwing itself offline. But then, NPC ships don't play by our rules. For instance, the drones activate both Fire At Will and Overload at once. We can't.
