Risian corvette

I've seen some Risian Corvettes pop up so why not try some setups for this summer event reward.

This setup for a transphasic torpedo build cashes in on the high speed defense.

Also a set that capitalizes on the high speed/defense, but cannon based.

Let's hear ideas people.

Edit: Made a preliminary shield stripping build.

Would have preferred to use the piercing tetryon from Installation 18, but those were not listed.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

thank you for posting the link to this skill planner. I never knew about it.

Biggest problem i see with full cannon builds is that the RC has Bonus Power:
+5 weapons power, +15 engine power.

Most escorts have +15 weapons. So for same effect you need a warp core with E->W or a lot of weapon batteries.

The build he linked is aux-to-batt with EPtW1, so he should be able to keep weapon power up pretty well. It also says he's engineering captain so he will have EPS and NI too. Power should not be an issue for him

This looks like a really good build, I'm definitely going to be using a set up like this.

If you're running dual A2B (assuming you slot the Technicians) you don't need dual TT or CSV since they'll be at global anyways. Or alternately stay doubled-up tactically and run just a single A2B, then you can drop the RSP1 to 1 and add in something like EWP1 or DEM2.

I don't even need the EPS or NI, on EPtX and skills alone I'm at 136/96/59/34 buffed (according to the PowerCalc), throw in Assimilated Module and Zero Point and I'm actually going to pull my weapon power down 5 points to feed my shields a little more, for 138/102/61/35. Anything else, like the Jem engines I'm currently using and whatever I get from the AtBs, comes on top of that. It's not a huge buffer, but given the fact that it's cannons and the recent discovery that how much the buffer helps is based on power transfer, I think it's enough.

I'm not entirely sure how AtB is going to interact with the CSVs and TTs, I'm worried it won't get them all the way to global, which could desync them with the attack patterns. Plus I don't really have anything else to do with those slots, and I'd worry about survivability without pushing my heals all the way to global with 2 AtBs (although EWP and DEM would certainly be interesting additions).

EDIT: Now I find myself wondering whether the MACO (Adapted KHG) shield is the best choice. I assumed it was, Resilient being awfully nice for a ship with such low hull, but with the shield power I'm getting I'm wondering about that. If I pull my engine power down some, leaving it at 52, that gets me to 111 shield power, with a [W->S] warp core that becomes 121. If I use the Borg shield that would get me to 125, which means 400% of normal regen, which is very high for that shield, add the T4 Omega regen boost to that and it's like I'm hitting EPtS1 every 6 seconds. On the other hand, I hate to give up the low bleedthrough or the extra 10% resistance. Looks like the numbers are around 1253 regen 52% resistance to plasma for MACO, 1894 regen 45% resistance to plasma for Borg. So there's something to think about for anyone planning to try the build.

This is my own take on an A2B Corvette; some placeholders in the warp core and console slots until I have a chance to test things/my fleet finished the dil mine upgrade. I'm still debating which skill is best to put in that Lt. Cmdr. tac slot, but I've never used TS3, so we'll see how that goes.

Shouldn't a vessel designed to race, be racing?

Surely someone can build a race course and have have timed runs someplace.

The Supermarine Spitfire was developed from a racer and we all know what a worthless fighter that was..

Bottom Line: Original design does not matter, but the possibilities in the frame do.

I have a nice idea for Tholian space set/bomber, but the tholian weapons and space set are not yet included in the builder.

Thought I'd post an update now that I've had a chance to try my build. It seems to be quite effective, it's done 7-8k DPS in my last 2 pug ISEs with quite limited gear, and is very tough to kill. I did wind up setting engine power to 15 which is getting me to 124 shield power or more in combat, with the result that the shields are impressively strong even though they're only Mk XI Jem ones, to the point that I only used RSP very rarely (maybe 3 uses in the two STFs), and didn't use RSF at all. The struggle is bleedthrough damage, but 2 piece Borg helps enormously with that, as does the HE every 30 seconds to kill plasma fires. I definitely wouldn't want to try it without resilient shields, though, although someone might have some good idea to pull that off. I still haven't really found a good use for the Subspace Wake yet though, I might end up replacing that with a more generic console, maybe a Field Generator. End result: good damage, plenty of kills, no deaths. Now I have to try to justify continuing to use my more sci focused ships and builds on my two Sci toons :P If only GW was still good....
