So - since S8 my slavers have become quite lazy, with the boarding crews just kinda hanging around the Crew Lounge, playing DomJot and not stealing Contraband and other goodies anymore. What gives?
I suspect that in the process of *ahem* tweaking the loot/theft tables, someone hit a flag somewhere which in effect, shut them off for Advanced slavers.
I have also heard reports that elite slavers are still functional with quite diligent crews.
The advanced ones are still handy, since they litter the target area with quantum mines, giving you a very effective shield against heavy plasma torpedoes, boarding parties, etc.

My advanced slavers have stolen contraband once or twice since s8, but that's it, so I'm switching to my advanced interceptors for now.
I'll probably pay for access next week to Elite Slavers and Elite Interceptors. If I can just find out how to get the tour the galaxy mission for ec it'll be alot easier.
Normal and Advanced Slavers are broken. Yay for new bugs every patch.

Yes, for over a month now. And if you are thinking to yourself "Meh not a big deal", then you would be quite wrong. They steal contraband, rare commodities (jevonite, lockets, etc.), and prisoner doffs. And let me put it this way, they are quite profitable to use.
I can't say my elite slavers are working much either. They've stolen 2 lots of rare commodities and 300ec since S8 launched, and that's it. I play a few estfs and fleet events every day just about.
The rate at which they steal seems rather low. Almost non existent.
I would've thought something every 1 or two 15min space missions would result in something.
I'm pretty sure there is some kind of hard cap for slavers if you earn so much contraband a day or week however its internally calculated if you doff on a daily basis you can expect to get contraband from slavers once a year.
Its be nice if they developers could give us actual details on how this works, what are the odds of a slaver looting and what factors effect that.
All of the anecdotal posts in this thread leads me to believe that they were "adjusting" the theft rate or loot table for slavers and borked something in the process. Stealth Nerfs FTW!

They're certainly swingy, always have been. I haven't been playing my Kar'fi as much, and have been running other pets lately, so I can't give a real solid overview about totals. However, not long before the last patch, I was in a STF and running a single bay of Advanced Slavers which stole a total of 12 Contraband, several single commodiites and about a thousand EC during the course of one ISE. Probably the biggest loot-fest I've had them do, and post LoR to boot.
This could very well explain my current Contraband drought. I've been Marauding my heart out but I'm lucky to get 5 a day now. Some days I was pulling 20. But if I can only get X amount per a week that certainly explains a lot.
Also explains my Fed who pulls 5/6 from the Confiscate Contraband Personal mission due to the infrequent use of the character.

I read on another post that slavers have to survive long enough in order to do some serious stealing. So I don't know what to say, try to launch all your slavers, and draw the target's fire on your carrier, while not firing with your carrier on it to give the slavers enough time to do the stealing. I did not try it, but maybe it's working.
As for best carrier ... I like DPS, so my choice is Kar'fi, and if my fleet was big enough I would get the fleet version. It has the best turn rate, big shields, 4 fore weapons, and you can also put two gravity wells on it ... which I did
I use polarized disruptor turrets on the rear and in front I have disruptor quad cannon, polarized disruptor dual cannon, hargh peng torpedo, and the plasma torpedo with 6 charges from the reputation system. As buffs I have two tactical teams (I can stay face forward on the target for as long as I have any shields), cannon rapid fire and Beta, two shield regen from engineer, and two hazard emmitter from scientist.
It makes a mess with full tactical buffs, and gravity well, I would say this is the best DPS conf you can get ... maybe GHDC can provide some competition.
Also slavers fire on target all the time with their beams, don't depend much on their position (if they face the target or not), and when they start flooding with mines it's even more fun.
For tanking I would suggest the Mirror Vo'quv, with it's engineer commander boff, and the new Advanced Obelisk with it's return damage ability (should be fun combined with Pattern Delta and polarized disruptors). The last one looks like being the best tank I have seen so far in STO.
I gave up on my elites... I run (or ran) a dual bop/slaver loadout, using the bops to aggro by releasing them first then releasing the full hangar worth of slavers once the prey was occupied
It made no difference though, the slavers will not get anything, it seems - most I've had is a smattering of common commodities and some ec

This Bug was reported over a Month ago from many Players and the Devs are still not interested to fix or comment this.
60500 Dilithim for both Hangarpets are wasted. The Advanced are Bugged and useless.
