STO Fleet Expansion!

Even though our fleets are having fun mining for Dilithium at our Fleet Dilithium Mining Post,
and is kind of like a brand new, small, little fleet expansion.

Was thinking today while contributing to my fleet, what if there were a Fleet Expansion, in a way where its all about combat!?!

An expansion where we got to control territories with our fleets, ground and space territory, inside systems no sector space at all!
It probably wouldnt be possible, but if our fleets got to fight against other fleets and take control of ground and space, in a PvP fleet combat!?!:D
Or even like a PvP fleet combat where there were an option to attack another fleets starbase and or embassy.
The loosing fleet would still have there embassy and or starbase.

And in the end of witch ever fleet is victorious, there would be fleet marks and dilithium as rewards.

I just think it would something really cool to have! Its just a quick small idea, but anybody think this would cool? Let me no if its dumb idea too? Or anyother kind of ideas?

    Wow! No1 thinks, that this kind of thing would be, lets say, Fleet Expansion to STO!?!:)

    They have said they have a military holding planned for season 10, not much more then that is known.

    I believe thats the plan, something like a miniature EVE online in the Delta quadrant or something like that. Talk about a feature thats a long way down the road though. A few things have too happen first:

    A: a single sector block. Basically merge all of space, including subwarp and sector, into one giant map. This would have serious ramifications server side, AKA lag. Idealy what we'd have is something similar too pirates of the burning sea, with instanced PvP, and small PvP zones around planets and/or solar systems. With this system, people could take part in PvP if they wanted too, much like today.

    B: The romulans need their own setup, AKA, everything the other two factions have. Stations, vet skins, vet ships, a flagship since the scimitar apparently isn't the romulan flagship...

    C: Alongside this, there should be a HUGE balancing initiative, making sure that all ships of the same teir are just as powerful as the others. In my opinion, this is something that likely won't happen. Why? Simple, money. People won't want their lockbox, or jem ships too be just as powerful as all the others, or vice-versa. They paid more money, and no matter how much I dislike a pay too win system, they should still get their monies worth. Is it likely to stay the way it is forever? Heck no. PvP will get it's overhaul at some point. When it does, we'll see fleet PvP and territory control come into play.

    Even still before that, theres a mountain of other things likely to happen first. Ground PvP is in even bigger need of an overhaul than space PvP, and we still have yet too see a crafting and exploration revamp. These things will likely happen first before territory control ever comes into play. But then this game is still young. It only just hit it's three year mark. Most games that have group territory control are easily past the five year mark, if not all. In fact, I believe the youngest IS EVE online at ten years this year.

    go play Eve online if you want something like this. unless this is interfaction only (IE FED can only attack KDF), it's not going to make any sense. Why would two starfleet groups want to fight each other, it's like Naval Station Norfolk sending the Abraham Lincoln to attack Naval Station San Diego for some hamberger patties and jet fuel...

    As more fleets are making their way into T5 of their starbases we could use another project of a larger scale then the two holdings we currently have.

    I am thinking a fleet sector block would be good. Start it with a special project that becomes avaliable once a fleet has a T2 transwarp gate.

    Upon compleetion of 'Dispatch Deep Space Construction Team.' A fleet could gain access to a new sector block from the TW Gate at their starbase. Initialy this sector block might only contain a transwarp gate in the center (constructed by the deep space team) and exploration pings to scan and enter (like we currently have in the exploration clusters)

    A new holding tab could open up for the cluster and as the fleet compleets projects like 'dispatch deep space probe', 'Attain trade agrement with indiginus species', 'Construct nebula research post', etc new locations to visit within the sector block could begin to populate it. Each with a daily mission of some kind.

    Additionaly doff missions of differant types could become avaliable in the block as new facilities are constructed or discoverd. Build a trade post and have access to trade doff missions. Discover a hostile colony and gain access to espianage missions and so on.

    If it has been brought up be4 thats great, knowing that Cryptic is thinking about what this thread is about.

    And everything you guys have said just looks amazing and if ever reaches in game, the things said here should be put in game.

    Just cant wait for sumthing like this.
    Cant wait for anything fleet related to be put in game.

    With everything new that just came to STO and will be coming to STO, us players really deserve sumthing fleet related!:)

    If there will be PvPs then there will be "this op, that op, nerf this, nerf that" threads.
    Perhaps the best solution would be disabling doffs powers in those maps, and force everyone to use tier1 ships
    Grinding for MkIV epic gear?

    something like that ye (although the use of t1 ships is probably a bit much).

    the last thing this game needs is an other influx of people who want it to turn in EvE (especially with goons already here) and self styled "hardcore pvp" MMO PK seeking locusts.

    tbth the game needs some non fleet stuff.

    there are many people who don't want to have to join a T5 fleet full of fair weather friends just in order to have something to do and if the game runs out of *drip, drip, drip* for those people it will be in trouble...again.

    i suppose the fleet territory control sub game in a far off quadrant idea is fine but ultimately in practice it'll be locked off content for vast swathes of the playerbase (including "lesser" fleets)...which isn't a great thing in a F2P game where your main aim is keeping as many people as happy and occupied as possible so they hang around and hopefully drop some cash.

    1. Increase Fleet Ranks from 7 to 12.

    2. In-Game Recogition of Fleet Alliances.
    A. Allied fleets would be able to help with starbase and embassy projects rewarding the helping fleet with provisions and the receiving fleet with the needed XP for the projects.
    B. Access to starbases and embassies of Allied fleets to buy items from store using the provisions from the members own fleet.

    3. Individual Fleet Member Permissions

    4. Updated fleet reporting that includes provisions used by members.

    5. Updated fleet roster to show how many days a members has been in the fleet and who recruited them.

    6. Additional fleet bank slots.

    7. Fleet retrofit shuttle.

    8. Fleet sector space with PvP Capablity.

    9. fleet unlockable uniforms projects.

    10. fleet Foundry mission that would generate dilithium for the fleets in use of the tip. Along with collaboration among the fleet members (working on it together at the same time). Along with this I would like to have the different tier starbases for maps interior and exterior.

    11. Ability to remove starbase personnel similar to that of the hide winter d?cor button.

    12. Ability to change starbase / Embassy personnel uniforms to the actual fleet uniform.

    If these would be put in place it truly be an awesome addition to fleets of all sizes.

    Well...see...This is the feed back i wanted to see!

    And everything i read on this thread is great feedback, just like some1 said, with so many fleets reaching tier 5, "like my fleet" or already is tire 5. there really needs to be something integrated in game for our fleets cause after that whats next!?!

    Thats why i think a fleet on fleet combat PvP would be best.
    And like i read, what would be the point in Fed vs. Fed, thats pointless i understand that.
    But...even Fed vs. KDF fleet PvP would be even better cause its just more practical with Star Trek.

    Well about fleet vs fleet PvP, as in, atacking starbases, simply make it somewhat consensual,

    attackers declares a time, defender is allowed to refuse and pick a new time within a certain window.

    Same for War declarations.

    Make them consensual, both partys have to agree on a war.

    If two Fleets engage in War, you could simply use the actual which shows you "Teammates in sector space" and slap an "enemys in sector space" onto it, allowing attackers to join the sector space instance of their target and engage at will.

    Loosing side respawns at their starbase and is restricted from attacking another target for 15/30/45/60 minutes, accumulating as deaths are accumulated in fleet warfare.
    while beeing unable to attac, you are not a valid target either and can not be attacked,
    but, the second option, beeing unattackable, should be something yu can turn off if you feel like it.

    That way you could even circumvent an endless "spawn camp"

    I think there is already to much in favor for large fleet over solo player/small fleet. They have unique stuff, most of it being better than anything else, they have the best kits, the best warp core, best consoles, best hangar pets, very good/best ships, a very good if not better alternative for weapons and gear, and now they also have access to dil grind with the mine.

    Some people will argue the player don't need all this stuff, but we don't play to have average gear, when there is better available. And this best gear is not rewarded according to your skill, it's rewarded on the size of your fleet, and how much dil you gave.

    I understand this is a MMO, and having a fleet will grant you more advantages. But advantages doesn't mean best in slot items for almost everything.
