Hi everyone, So i recently started playing my ENG Klingon toon again and saw the 15% off c-store ships sale going on. Trying to decide on which ship is best for my ENG.....looking at the Bortasqu pack or the Marauder Patrol Cruiser. Now I am only Rank Commander at the moment so i can plan my build according to which ship I decide to go with. Thanks for any advice u can give.

Many people speak ill of the Bortaqu pack, but they are some outrageously powerful cruisers. Also, little do people realize but the LoR buff to emergency power abilities means that with the right build you can run emergency power to engines and shields nonstop on a cruiser and get decent maneuverability (and as a eng character you get extra power bonuses from both!). Upcoming fancy fleet turn-rate consoles can't hurt either.

Like you also recently just picked up my Engineer again.
for the longest time I flew around in the Hegh'ta until it became so under-powered that I just gave up on playing engineer.

Since picking up the Engiee again I decided I wanted to try and copy some of the Fed engineer cruiser builds I have run across in PvP.

As I cannot stand slow turning ships it has been a difficult process to find a build I liked that could do decent damage and decent tank.

I first tried the K't'inga battle retrofit. It turned well and was very tanky but did only ho hum damage.

I recently switched to the Fleet Tor'Kaht Battle Cruiser Retrofit ($20). I find this had the right mix of BOFF stations, Hull strength, and Turn modifier for my play style. Now with advanced weapons and and soon the advanced warpcore and eng consoles this ship will be what I am looking for.

Unfortunately there are so many different play styles out there this may not work for you. I recommend finding the BOFF abilities you want to use as well as a console grouping that works for you then find a ship that matches closest. Use the STO wiki and Starfleet acadamy build creator to help decide

Thanks for the reply Meat......I play my Fed Tact mainly...it hits hard and fast...so for my Klingon ENG im thinking i want to specialize in survivability with mainly beam and torpedo weapons...I have been using the wiki religiously but just wanted some feedback from players themselves....

I always tell people to pick the ship that looks the best. It's no fun killing people if you have to stare at an ugly ship the whole time.

If you want to go the Bortasqu' route, remember Auxiliary to Dampeners and Attack Pattern Omega are your best friends. Also invest your skill points into Starship Impulse Thrusters now - it will go a long way toward helping out your turn rate.

Also, whatever cruiser you pick out, six points in Starship Energy Weapons Specialization (T5 tactical skill) unlocks the ability for engineers to train Directed Energy Modulation III - one of the key abilities to coax the maximum DPS out of a cruiser.
