    40k base hull = 52k - 56k hull in action with skills+reputation+equipment it's enough for a ship with 5 forward weapon slots. 3 amazing consoles, battlecloak ...

Though I'm not a fan of the Gal-X (much less the Gal), I can't help but wonder the following two things:

    1) Will the Gal-X get a Dreadnought makeover to be more in line with the Jem Dread and the three new Rom Dreads?

    2) Will the KDF get a Dread? Both the Bort and Vo'Quv lost their Dread status when given to players. There's the Balaur, Ravager, Warbarge, and Drek'Hi...but again, even if they were introduced would they be Gal-X Dreads or Jem/Rom Dreads, eh?

They could fix the no Cmdr SCI or ENG really easy!!

Change the Cmdr to a Universal

    let the play pick SCI/TAC/ENG

why do we have to have another pure Tac heavy Escort Carrier? On 3 ships?

But it can use awesome MK XII Singularity Cores.... :D

Remember that Singularity Cores are still much weaker than Warp Cores of the same quality and mark. Not only do they have diminished base power levels, they have inferior modifiers as well.

As far as power levels, look at the presets...
Warp Core: main 100, secondary 50, the others 25 and 25
Singularity Core: main 100, secondary 30, the others 15 and 15
...meaning that everything but your main allocated system (read "weapons" in most cases) will suffer from a -40% base power level penalty... or looking at it the other way around, Feds/KDF get a +66.67% base power level bonus for any system other than the main allocated system relative to a Warbird. Put another way, a Warbird captain in the weapon preset would need a 99 in Starship Engine, Shield and Auxiliary Performance to equal a Fed/KDF captain in the same preset with 0 in Starship Engine, Shield and Auxiliary Performance...

Next, as far as the modifiers for the core types, Singularity Cores are also less effective. For example, the capacitor abilities of a Singularity Core will drain Singularity Charge in order to boost and restore your affected system... which in turn reduces the passive bonus you get from Singularity Charge as well as diminishing your use of Singularity Powers; the Warp Core capacitor abilities have no impact upon any other bonuses or abilities when used. Likewise, whereas a Singularity Core will enhance one specific Singularity Power (and only if you use that power once you finally charge up), a Warp Core will constantly enhance the power levels of one system based on the power level in the primary one; this means that any ability that is based on the second power level gets a boost, all the time you have power in the main system, not just upon use of the single ability.

Honestly, if I could rip the Singularity Core out of my Warbird, I would install a Warp Core in a heartbeat; the Singularity Powers are interesting, but not really comparable to the alternative... more like a penalty imposed to balance out the Battle Cloak, but with a bow to make it look pretty.

Of course, as far as the Scimitar goes... the base stats outclass most anything the other factions have access to, but it still has the Singularity Core mechanic with its associated limitations. I have no doubt that it is OP, but remember that the bonus damage from decloaking won't be applied if you fire when remaining cloaked... and doing so will also give your opponent a nice glowey vector to trace for use of Charged Particle Burst, Antiproton Sweep, etc. It will make RSP more of a must-have, though.

A varied Commander slot would have been nice, too...

I am telling you - day 1 and 2 of sales - casual players will start popping by doing tanky stuff !!

I see inbound FORUM rant - "I want my money back" - "too weak" etc etc - could put a slight damper on sales.

    But we shall see.

You're missing the biggest point here. There will be forum rants anyway no matter what the devs. do. :D

Fleet Galaxy-X. With saucer separation and 4-th tac.console. It will make people cry. Their tears will power up my spinal lance. :D

From Vet PvP players like you - that's pretty harsh - makes me a little worried - was hoping there was a ship to make you seriously come back to the game for more than the summer event.

Looks good. I will get 1 for sure. Since my Romulan is tactical based. I will go for the Scimitar. The barrage attack while cloaked will be very nice. To get all 3 for the super weapon looks good. But the charge time will be hard to work with. Unless you use it on npc ships that in range but they hadn't attacked. I see it more a sitting duck move.

The Scimitar is defently on the list to buy. Once my Romulan get up to level. I'm after the D-Bird and Mogai first. This will be later.

All three variants look the same to me. And wasn't it said somewhere that Thalaron weapons are illegal in the Republic?

Regardless, this looks awesome. Thank you guys very much! :)

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

The only issue i have is with the Thalaron weapon. As it's banned the Republic shouldn't be using it.

However, simple solution. i just won't use it. wasn't planning on the 3 piece anyway unless they add another couple extra console slots to each ship tomorrow lol

You've got to be kidding Crytic. Where is the logic? I believe now I have every right to DEMAND an addition of +3 to the turn rate of all the other cruisers in the game.

Well I'm not sure about the numbers but I'm pretty sure no heavy armor/weapon Rom ship kan turn better or faster then Feds streamline designed ship. Just logically thinking about it.

That & as many times as The Federation has beat baq romulan troops. Even in the movie, the reason why it got blown up was bkuz it was to slow. Kouldnt even out maneuver a ramming attack

My question is could it be used against Borg Cubes, Unimatrix 0047 ships, and The Queen's Octahedron?

If so, these are the ships I would gladly hit with the Thalaron Weapon.

Don't understand the Sci version not having 2 hangers. Options are a wonderful thing. Allow players more options in configuring ships to play their way.

Humm, I wonder will they rearrange some of BOff ability slots to go better with each themed ship? They all cookie kutter right now, jus a switch in konsole placement which is weird.

I read a 12second firing sequence for Thalaron weapon so this means it will not be that useful in many circumstances. I get that it can't be OP, but why not let it charge and gain power over time.

The charge curve would be exponential so that if you fire early it is very weak, maybe like BO2 at 1 or 2 seconds to full power at 12 seconds.

At least this would give us more practicality without being OP. I am not wanting to 1 shot in PvP, just put on a display that does some damage.

I haven't read thread yet. This is my reaction to the ship now that's it's finally revealed.

I've done this with any thing lore-wise in the game that Cryptic has done. Somethings I I really disagree with but I can't see Cryptic's take on it as plausible. But the Scimitar is something that I vehemently disagree with. So I'm gonna play a trum, er canon card.

Thalaron weapons are biogenic weapons that are banned in the Alpha Quadrant by all major powers. For those no know the content, it's like using a uncurable plague that has a slow, agonizing death. All of the content in STO takes that convention about Thalaron weapons. Even Slamek proved he's not totally a lost cause He dumped the Thalaron weapons his ship was carrying into the Nopada atmosphere before it crashed. To paraphrase Q Jr., "Thaloraon weapons bad. People who use Thalaron as bad."

But now you are selling the Scimitar which is usable by the Romulan Republic which has Tharlaron reactor and weapon system. Let me repeat that, the Romulan Republic using Tharlaron weapons. I just can't by that at all. I can buy Sela and the RSE using Tharalon weapons. I can buy the Tal Shiar using Thalaron weapons. I can't buy the Romulan Republic using galactically banned weapons. The Federation would immediately break all ties with New Romulus. All ships that Republic forces were suing woudl be recalled. The Klingons would probably not even call their ships to be recalled. They would just blow them of the sky.

No amount of hand waving can reconcile this contradiction. I not calling for thing drastic to be done to the Scimular. I'm not asking for any alterations to any game effects. Just don't called it a Thalaron Weapon. Invention some new treknobabel to explain that it is.

This is true. It should have another energy/blast type then those who are against freedom/peace. Even in this game it goes on-&-on on how bad it is. Then all of a sudden every one & their momma flying around with it. You would kill the universe. Coding it tobe a nanite-distuptor blast or plasma-disruptor would be more viable

Well looks like i'll just buy a recluse off the exchange for my sci rom, was really hoping, atleast, the sci variant would have 2 hangars and a cmdr sci. I'd trade the fifth fore weapon (i'd even drop the forth, if necessary) in a heartbeat for those two things, as it stands i'll save my zen for the promised romulan carrier.

How can such a graceful and impressive canon design, like the Scimitar, be mutilated into these ugly, irregular, patchwork monstrosities. Cryptic needs to include at least one graceful, smooth edged, model for those players who do not appreciate the lego-like design philosophy of the current art team. These design travesties, even with their op (imho) consoles, won't convince me to shop for zen, even if I weren't already boycotting premium purchases.
