Boff lost in trasit

I just bought a new boff on the Exchange, and I chose 'Train Up' from the dialogue window, and it just brought me to the window that lets me choose training based on my captain's skills. Now I can't find the boff from the list of Candidates on the 'Stations' tab on the ship's profile. It said in the original dialogue to press U and double click on the 'Assignments' tab, but I don't see any 'Assignments' tab. Where did this officer end up, and how do I claim it?

On a side note, I'm trying to apply paint colours on a new ship that aren't concrete or gunmetal grays, but they're not showing up. I can change paint patterns all I want, but anything besides the basic monochromatic grayscale won't show. It's confusing because the colours I selected from the palette still appear in the little 'these are the colours you selected' squares.

Not sure on the BOFF thing, but when you ask them to train up, they will teach one of your existing officers one of their skills and then go away. In order for them to join your crew, you have to click "Join".

As for the ships, In order for a paint pallet to show up, you have to apply a paint job. Go to the ship tailor, and click "Advanced". You will get a new window with two columns of choices. First one is ship parts, and the second is paint jobs for those parts. Others the paint wont show.

Also Note that some special zen and lock box ships are non-customizable

Why does the BOFF go away after I choose to train an officer? That completely defeats the purpose of purchasing that officer and the BOFF skill trainer at ESB. I want my EC back.

And I said that I already had the palette up and selected two colors that weren't gray, but they don't show up on my ship.

When you "train up" you get to teach one of the new boff's skills to a current one, then it disappears. You have to hit "join" for him to be part of your crew. Sorry, but your boff is gone.

You're not sorry, don't say you're sorry. It wasn't made clear that 'Train Up' didn't mean 'Train and Promote your new officer before assigning it to a station'.

Some skills, like Beam overload 3 and Aux to SIF3 are not available through the Boff trainer or captain training, and can only be obtained through premade boffs. That's the reason for the "train up." Some people prefer to train an existing boff the new skill rather than replace him altogether.

Actually, it clearly states that a boff will train another boff, and then return to ESD for reassignment. It's RIGHT IN THE DESCRIPTION. I'm sorry you lost out on EC, but read more clearly next time.

On the ship's palette issue I've been running in to the same problem, especially on the Romulan ships. I've found that if I toggle back on forth thru some of the primary ship options (such as skins, base template, etc.) and let those choices reset the color scheme then reselect my colors it eventually starts showing the colors rather than just a sort of shaded grey. You just have to j-j-j-j-jiggle it a bit. I've also found that the Reman 2 skin on the Romulan ships (dark green overall) has an odd quirk. No matter what color you choose it will show on the ship as a dark reddish brown. Fortunately that's the color I wanted heheheheheh

Don't deride me and then say 'I'm sorry but'. You're not sorry. And that DESCRIPTION is a WALL OF TEXT. The important stuff should have been highlighted. "CHOOSE JOIN TO ADD THIS OFFICER TO YOUR CREW. CHOOSE TRAIN UP TO ADD A SKILL TO AN EXISTING OFFICER, SENDING THIS NEW OFFICER BACK TO ESD"

You didn't read the text, you got what was coming to you.

Remember, so you don't repeat it next time you train a BOff.

Except that its not. Its four sentences, broken up into 2 paragraphs. In fact, the part about the boff going back to ESD is the third sentence-so you don't even have to read all the way through to catch it.

OP, you made a mistake. It happens, and in this case, its your own fault. You just don't want to admit it. Read that "wall of text" next time before you push a button. Arguing about how it isn't due to your error makes you look foolish. Chalk it up as a learning experience and move on.

Well, it was pointed out to you that it was made clear in the "wall of text" you chose not to pay any attention to. The issue isn't with the Dev team or a lack of info; but rather, your decision to NOT BOTHER with reading the info you claim "wasn't made clear".

Maybe next time, you'll read before you click, and save yourself some aggravation.

FYI: Having made some mistakes before - I never push any button if I don't know exactly what it does.

When you acquire a BOff - the window usually comes up. The "Train" pertains to this new BOff training another Existing BOff. IE: This new BOff will train an existing BOff with it's existing set of skills and will train one and only one skill before that BOff disappears for ever.
The "Join" will add that BOff to your current crew; if there's enough room - if there isn't enough room - that button will not exist.
The "cancel" or whatever - lets you decide what to do later; and generally will put that BOff in your 'BOff roster.'

To have "your captain" train a BOff - go to your characters panel - then at the bottom there's a button - select train. This one lets you use your captain's abilities to train an existing BOff.

Hope this clears some things up.

I was actually sympathetic to you until you acted like this. it clearly states what ahppens when you press join or train and that it will return to ESD afterwards. Maybe this will teach you a lesson to look before you leap.

Well I'm not sorry you lost your EC, looks good on you as far as I am concerned. By the way, my 10 year old can "scan" a "wall of text" and pull out pertinent information in a matter of seconds.

Suck it up soldier and move on.

When I did this, mine morphed into a duplicate of an existing officer. It took me a while to realize bob2 tactical used to be ann science.

Luckily it was just a cheap Boff so it was relatively easy to replace.

Lesson learned: I now let them go to my Boff pool before training.
