I saw in today's patch that KDF and Rom now have off duty outfits. Can we wear Mercenary now?
What about tuxes and slinky dresses?

If the code guys remembered to change some item flags so thier not fed only then we'll have off duty stuff we can wear. Possibly we may see some specific KDF off duty wear but I'm not going to hold my breath on it. Development for KDF has been and is going to be stay low priority untill Cryptics internal numerics show KDF pop making up at a guess around 30% of the game population. Romulan faction aligned KDF will help a great deal, but what KDF needs is KDF numbers to get the attention from the studio dev's. Cryptic is a Business!
They have to put development dollors where they're going to get the most return.
At a certain level " Build it and they will come" it a truth, but it no guarentee. They put in the KDF progressing the way it should have been at launch 3 plus years into the games run. As a KDF player I really hope it pays off, but I've been a Business owner and recognice that it more along the lines of an experiment. If it pans out KDF will get more development and we won't even have to beg grovel and gripe to get it.
If it doesn't further KDF development will pretty much go into a deep freeze other then a few token ships or items now and again, and grudgingly so because thier simply not going to be making any money off the KDF to the level they're going to pull off of Federation faction shinies.
In under an hour we will have the answer to your question.. I expect to be amazingly underwhelmed by it.. We may have the slot, but we don't have anything to wear there is my prediction on this..

KDF Marauding costume (conjectural.. feds get the ambassadore uni... the rewards of Diplomacy compared to Marauding are silly skewed in favor of the feds.. Fed with diplo can cruise KDF exploration zones and farm data samples... they do it because of a perception that ours are easier to get at... and in some cases because the players doing so are jerks and simply do not see that they should farm thier own stuff and leave the KDF stuff FOR the kdf.. Not the problem it was because crafting isn't that great of a deal any more.. but at one point it was irritatingly stupid... we couldn't even make them fight for the priv as PvP in elective not forced.. Had we been able to intercept fed in KDF territory and force them to fight it would hav never have been an issue. Fed players considered it "unfair" that KDf players could force them into PvP when they're in KDF territory.. game dicisions concerning the factions don't follow logic, they follow money.
After all this time, it's so surreal, I almost can't believe it. We have access to the mercenary set, my Nausicaan pirate and Orion marauder are rubbing their hands with huge grins on their faces! :P
There's a tradeoff, though. They broke orion bikini-skirts, which now make your legs if you create a new outfit with them. D'oh!
