I love Star Trek online, however I believe that the creators need to get more detailed on the Medicine. I work in the health care profession. And although I love playing Capt. in Star Trek online, I hate how unorthodox and completely wrong the medicine is in the Star Trek universe. I don't mind the hypospray stuff but how about using medicine that actually exist and not making up stuff just because. For example Aspirin is nearly 200 years old yet we still use it every day and there is a good chance we will be using it further. If possible I would like to play the doctor in the game and really get my hands dirty and use my knowledge and experience in the game. Quit making it so easy for people to heal themeless if shot with a weapon. I would like to see more blood in the games and realistic lesions as well. Give me a good reason to us anticoagulants and coagulants in this game. I want a little Emergency Medicine in this game. Show me Ultrasounds and CT scans that I can actually use. Atropine, Beta Blockers, ACE inhibitors, IV salines, Intubations, Cathaters, Pulmonary Embolism, Hear Attacks, Tension Pneumothorac, Chest Tubes. Ask me for Patient Cases and I will throw at them to you gladly to put in the game.
I would also like it if this game was more educational. Why can't we learn more about physics and physical properties that exist. I understand that alot is straight science fiction, yet I know that alot of people that play these games work in the scientific community and would love to see more reality in this game.
thats your opinion and i respect that but i have to say your wrong most people play to take a break from reality not get forced into more of it as for educational there is way to many things that are educational games tv shows books let sto be sto as for the medicens it's 300+ years in the future stands to reason that new medicens would be discoverd making simple asprine obsolete

Asking this very seriously and not trying to be rude at all, but have you ever watched an episode of any Star Trek series before? The "medical" you're talking about is so completely obsolete compared to the medical technology and knowledge of the Star Trek time period.
We're at the level of growing skin or skin guns for burn victims, Star Trek has rapid cell regeneration there's a slight difference there.
I was literally just about to hit the reply button, but then something can to mind. You're idea does have a level of merit to it, just not exactly in the fashion you were thinking.
Our Bridge officers can be set to department heads, so what if after a mission/pve/pvp/stf/etc we could go into bridge view and select which boff we wanted to temporarily play as and go to main engineering and repair the warp core, or select our medical officer and go to sickbay and work on some patients, or the sciences labs, etc. all as mini-game/mini-mission style things to do. That would give an overall filling out of the ST universe yet not become overly complicted.

There is a Breen mission where you do exactly this, use diagnostics and treatment protocols to help out a damaged Deferi frigate.
However, I have two comments about catheters in STO:
1. Please spell it right. I would not want to get a catheter inserted by someone who can't spell it correctly, sorry that's a pet peeve of mine.
2. I think a good 99.9999% of players would want no business having to insert catheters into anything. Unless it's Tovan Khev, and it's with an antimatter device.
Although doing all that to Tovan Khev sounds like fun I just want to stick him in the nearest airlock and open the outer door. As for performing modern medicine in a game set a couple hundred years in the future and after Bones said it was barbaric 20 years ago I think not.
Maybe a few more missions besides the breen one and the first space mission for fed as a sci captain, and the finding a cure for some remans where you perform some emergency first aid would be nice to see rather than every mission being pew pew. But not just medical help but maybe disaster asistance where you help rebuild a colony or atleast help clear out some rubble.

That Breen Mission seemed strange to me, Both my Engineer and Tac doing all the work while my Medical BOFF followed me around like a puppy. I suppose if one of my Captains was a Medic it might make more sense.
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001. If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why. When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.

There are, actually, several misspelled words/medical terms in the post.
I work in healthcare as well, and getting away from the stresses of my job is one of the reasons I play. No-thank-you to realistic 'anything' that has to do with medicine or healthcare.
