My best buddy past away and we played STO all the time.
He left me the details of his account because he wanted me to have it.
(He and i build our fleetbase to what it is right now, Tier 3 and and i think because we put in the most of time and money to build this he wanted me to have his account)
So i wanted to take over his account but offcourse the emailadress he registred his account with is no longer available and i can not take over his account.
I allready sended a email to support but that was more then a month ago and never got any respons back.
How can i get in contact with a dev or someone else who can help me with this???
Sorry to hear about your lose. It's tough when a friend passes away, especially if you've been running a team/fleet/group with him.
Unfortunately I think this may be an uphill battle, and one that doesn't end with a victory. This sounds similar to what happens when a cable or satellite customer dies and the family needs to stop the service (I use to work as a customer service rep for one). The family had to provide evidence of the passing of the customer by mailing a copy of their death certificate to the company, and that took up time with getting the certificate mailed and then the company processing the information. They couldn't take someone's word that a loved one died because they were concerned for the security of the customer's information; they cited that someone could steal their identity like that.
I don't know if PWE has anything in place for an account holder dying or not. Unfortunately you may have to face the idea that the account--for all purposes--is gone.
Not necessarily, tho transferring an account attached to a dead e-mail address isn't possible without support intervention, claiming the account shouldn't be any harder than using your friends login information.
...Just pretend you're him when contacting support for the email address change.

I would have to concure - unless you were provided with his username and password as many relatives/boyfriends and girlfriends do who share accounts - I don't know if it ok to do that but i know it is a wide practice that kids log into their parents account with the parents permission - i would have to say his account and all virtual items went with him.
However, if you are a founder of the fleet - you should be a leader - right? So you can still take the starbase and continue it. If you were not a leader - you can take over the leader position after 30 days of the leaders inactivity I believe.
best of luck - but Cryptic providing someone- no relative - access to someones account is probably a no-go.

BTW, sorry for your loss.
No don't do this - that could open up a big problem for you - especially now!!!
In his will he gave me his Username, Password and the emailadress he registred the account with. Because we both played the game every day hours and hours and both bought the lifetime subscribsion he thought i should continue his account.
Since he gave me all his info, i don't see any problem why i should not get access to his account. It was his last will you know.
Also yeah i am a founder of the fleet so i allready control it.
The other reason why i think he wants me to have his account is because i gave him a shippack as a present for his birthday last January which costs me about 50 euro's.
I guess it is just his way to give things in return.
I will not act like i a him at support simply because i think that ain't the way to get things done. I allready have a ticket running where i explaint what happend etc but after a couple of months still no answer.
Thats fine, all I was really suggesting is that you refer to the newly owned account as 'my' account (since it IS yours now) when referring to your friends account that was willed to you, that might help limit the confusion the support staff will undoubtedly have if you tell them the complete story.
BTW, I KNOW billing and website support answer their mail, I've never gotten a response from game support.
refer to the newly owned account as 'my' account (since it IS yours now)
Exactly. Just use your friend's account, with his info. Period. Nothing wrong or even 'less than honest' about it.
If I will you my car, or give you the keys and say you can use it, you can't get arrested for theft if you use it, even if the title isn't in your name. (Well, you probably could get arrested, but you'd get kicked at arraignment)

firstly his sub has lapsed (lifetime means lifetime)
secondly do not claim to be him (that's a tos breach and also illegal)
Finally you by posting on this forum told them everything they need to know to see that
While i feel for your loss, you have a near hopeless cause. Unless you can receive emails from his original email account, and then can log into the support site and change the email, your about doomed because of the Account Guard that Cryptic added to each account.
Your only option is to try to go through Cryptics support system..and we all know how bad that is......good luck...god bless

Problem with that analogy is that the car is a physical item, Cryptic provide a service not physical goods. It's more like you trying to leave your cable service to someone in your will.
The contract is between you and the service provider and they are usually non-transferable, best read the EULA to check but my guess would be it isn't allowed.
Second... you have the username... password... email... whats the problem? If it's Cryptics account guard, there are ways around that... if not, login, enjoy :-)

i believe that accounts are NON-TRANSFERABLE according to the EULA
Now that you have made yourself and this situation known on the forum - I would highly suggest not doing anything that violates Cryptic policies - unless they give you written permission. Your own account status could be put at risk if you to circumvent Cryptic's policies. If you do not hear anything through this thread you can try to contact Brandon the community mod - he might be able to assist. Don't listen to anyone telling you to just go ahead and use his account.

Fellow posters - encouraging someone to circumvent Cryptic policies and do things against the Terms of service is probably frowned apon - HIGHLY!!
Sharing of accounts is not allowed in any MMO. If you have a copy of his last will then they may allow the transfer of purchased items to your account then close his account but they may not even allow that. Chances are you will either end up dropping it as a lost cause or will need a lawyer to get anything done about transfering account ownership over. One you lose the account the other costs you allot of money but PW will give you the account without court battles.

Subject to these Terms and any applicable EULA, PWE grants to you, for your noncommercial and personal use only, a limited, non-exclusive, revocable, nontransferable and nonsublicensable license to access and use the Service and the Proprietary Materials
Except as expressly permitted in these Terms or in the applicable EULA, such license does not include, and you agree not to engage in, any: (a) resale, sublicense, lending or commercial use of the Services or the Proprietary Materials therein; ...This license is revocable at any time with or without cause.... You are solely responsible for all activities and transactions that occur under your Account, and PWE is not responsible for any unauthorized use of your account, including without limitation in the event that your password is stolen or revealed to a third party. You agree to immediately notify us of any unauthorized use of your Account or any other breach of security in relation to the Website...
So point 1 is that the license to access the service is non-transferrable. I believe the point could be made that allowing a friend to sign on your account with your information with your consent is not transferring the license. The license stays with the account or account holder. I would also argue that as an account holder in his own right, the OP already has a license to access the service, and is using his own license to do so, albeit under a friend's account. Finally I would point out that his friend did not resell, sublicense, lend or get commercial use out of the transfer.
Point 2 is that there is zero mention of transferring account ownership or use in the account section of the TOS. In fact, it specifically references 'unauthorized use' ie, use that the account owner did not authorize. Meaning, de facto, that there can be use that the account owner does authorize.
However, as is stated multiple times, multiple ways in the TOS PWE/Cryptic can close/suspend any account at any time for any reason, so there's that.

i know this may sound simple, but did you try the password for his email too?
perhaps his password for the game was the same as his email.

However, I think you will have a very tough time getting this done the right way, if at all. The only thing I can see possibly be of any help is your mates will, where he grants you ownership of his account. but even then, it might not be possible to do this.
TOS or EUALS is usually pretty darn watertight when it comes to accounts, and ownership thereof. We are only really "renting" accounts from Cryptic, so we do not own them as such, and there lies the problem afaik.
There has been some cases like this in my country, wich has sadly ended badly, with a few exceptions, but most times it's hopeless.
As I said, the only good thing is that your mate was kind enough to leave you his account in his will, but I fear you might end up with nothing, or get a lawyer to help you, but that's expensive, and might just leave you with nothing, plus the bill from the lawyer, should you go that route...
Try to contact Branflakes, our resident PR guy. He can hopefully help you, but I would not get my hopes up...
Thanx for all your help and advice guys. Much appreciated.
Since i allready dropped a support ticket i will leave it at that and just sit and wait for any response.
Some of btw didn't read my posts that thorrow.
I said i have his username, i do have his password and i know with which e-mailadress he registred his account with. (He gave those to me in his last will).
If youtry to log in your account from a other pc that you are using normally, it will generate a email sended to the email account you registred with. There you have yo acknowledge that you are using a other pc then your own to log in.
THAT is what makes it not able to access his account since his e-mail account has been suspeded cause of his death.
by any chance did you try his STO password for his email?

He said his friends email has ceased to be active since his family alerted the provider, so even with all of his log in info he couldn't access his friends email. So odds are the only way to get things done is to be completely truthful to support, but that might not even work since there are rules against transfer of accounts.
My condolences and I wish you the best of luck.
