Ok I'm kind of confused on this, I could have sworn that F2P is limited to 10 million ECs, but I though it continued to keep track of what you earned beyond that, or am I wrong?
Anyways, I'm pretty upset right now, my sub ran out today and they never sent me the re-sub email or anything and I was right around 8.5 million EC and sold a fleet module on the exchange for 6 million more, it capped me at 10 million so I was like WTF? than realized my sub was up. I re-subbed of course and figured that other 5+ million or so ECs I was "owed" would just pop into my account....but no...
So basically if your account drops to F2P even for a little bit(like 15 minutes in this case) you lose anything past 10 million ECs? I just want to find out before I file a ticket reaming them out for losing those credits.
IIRC the EC cap is one of the few things that reverts to Silver status once your sub is inactive, unless you purchase the C-store cap increase. But no, the system doesn't track any excess amounts, once you hit the cap, that's it.
Hypothetical question, if you have say 60 million ECs and your sub drops to silver, do you lose 50 million ECs or does it "hold" them until you re-sub or buy the cap increase? I'll be honest, if it doesn't that is total BS. At least I only lost out on a couple million so no big deal I guess...
The moment you are Silver, ANY increase in your EC balance is LOST unless you increased your EC cap over 10mil already. Any EC means any EC ... vendor, exchange, mission loot, etc. you don't lose your 60mil and fall back to 10mil but you do freeze in balance.
Or you would need to not revert to Silver to avoid any loss.

Well, there is a way to increase the limit, in the store, there's a service that basically removes the 10 million EC limit, giving you a 1 billion EC limit, much like how you used as a subscriber. Yes, it does cost Zen, but I think it's worth it if you need the extra amount of EC.
Answer: Your money is gone. My advice is to give the money to a friend to hold while you wait for your subscription to run out, then buy the 500 zen cap increase.

I'm gonna disagree, I reverted back to silver before I popped the 10m EC cap and am still able to exceed 10 mil if needed. I don't keep more than 10mil on any toon or in the bank because I don't trust the game hacks (er, I mean devs) not to take my cash when I'm not looking. Might be best to just buy the level cap increase for a handful of zen, but I don't need it right now, and I haven't found a real need for 10's of millions of EC.

You revert to Silver ...

Edit: That'll teach me to take too long to type.
