Omega Force ship!

edwarlordedwarlord Member Posts: 120 Arc User
Cryptic when are you going to come out with an Omega Force themed vessel? The features would be it would come with an Omega Force Warp Core (which can be used on any ship not just the Omega Force Escort/Destroyer). That when combined with the full Omega Mk XII space set will further unlock a 4-piece ability/passive. And if the 4-piece set is used on the Omega Force Escort/Destroyer it unlocks another special (e.g. like the jem'hadar space set's "Victory is Life" passive that works only with jem'hadar vessels)

This would accomplish quite a few things with minimal effort and easier $ for you...
-Wouldn't need to introduce a new universal console.
-Wouldn't need to create 2 ships (one for each MACO and Honor Guard) since Omega Force can be used by any faction.
-You can put it in a lockbox OR could charge premium zen for it (2500-3000). With preference for the latter :D

Important Notice: If you do come out with an Omega Force Destroyer/Escort... PLEASE also...
-Make a unique bridge for it that has a captain's office like regular bridges do!
-Allow it choice of ship registry prefixes: NCC, NX, IKS, (whatever the rom's ship designation is), or SS.

I support it, but it has to be an escort carrier destroyer with it's own pet and can only use said pet.

also no Captains office...just a CiC

CiC is a Combat Information Center. essentially it is where all the goodies happen on a ship for combat.

Omega Force is essentially a combat joint task force, having something this universal is a good idea.

I hope it comes out with a whole new line of ships not just omega gear but an entirely new shape for ships in STO, new types of carriers, new types of ships for all roles and a multipurpous role too.

It's a nice idea, and I think it could lead to some incredible designs, but it's not going to happen, not without a major shift in the game's story/lore progression.

As it stands now the Federation and Klingon Empire are still very much at war, for better or worse, and while it is one thing to dedicate resources on both sides to fight a common enemy, it is quite another to share technology and designs to form a collaborative ship design featuring the best of both factions.

So unless they end the war (which they should anyway but that's another issue), this won't be happening unless Cryptic's writers jump off the proverbial deep end and stop caring.

    1) Omega/Maco/Honor Guard Cores should be available via requisition.

    2) We have far to many themed ships already. Starfleet would not fly Dominion, Tholian, or whoever else's ship. I'm personally still wondering why we have the Atrox and Andorian Escort when they could have been made as far better Starfleet ships.

The Federation should not build warships. Ships capable of proficient defensive roles, yes, warships, no.

The reason I brought up the Omega ONLY Warp Core is cause The Honor Guard and MACO have adapted version while Omega got nothing. The ship was just a nice way to introduce an Omega-like designed ship.

I agree with your 2) ESPECIALLY the DAMN TRIBBLE carrier. Why didn't they just make it a Starfleet designed carrier >.<

The Federation has always built warships. It just doesn't call them that. Hence "escorts."

Hey, I've got an idea. How about we DON'T add any MORE ******n Escorts into a game already dominated by Escorts?

The Defiant would like a word with you, being the first Federation vessel designed specifically and exclusively for combat.

Then there's the Prometheus, which was capable of chasing down and disabling just about any known starship of the time (It could outfight a D'Deridex with no issues, and the D'Deridex was on-par with the Galaxy-class).

The Federation absolutely builds warships, they just put fancy names on 'em so that they don't SOUND like they're warships.

The problem isn't the escorts -- it's with the Engineer BOFF abilities. With no offensive abilities worth mentioning (other than DEM), Engineer focused ships are largely worthless in a DPS-oriented environment.

If Cryptic starts introducing more offensive engineering skills, then we will definitely see a power-shift from Escorts to Everything-Else-Not-Escort.

I'll reply to both and try to clarify what I meant.
I know that "there are" Federation ships that could be called or classified as warships, but in general terms that is not the "mindset" of the Federation. Those very few that were built were so design out of necessity for a role the Federation didn't have and to deal with a present threat. On the current timeline "normal Federation vessels" can deal with those threats, so there is no need for a specific "warship" build as it is contrary to Starfleet's main purpose.
