We have Tovan; now we need Wesley and Alexander

jestersagejestersage Member Posts: 8 Arc User
You know, the more I play Romulan, the more Tovan grow on me, Just like Root beer.

So quite frankly, they should give something similar to both Fed and KDF. Wesley and Alexander is a good idea. Full voice acting, along with a good story line, is what helps make Romulan story more interesting.

If Alexander is anything to go by, Wesley probably did grow up to be a badass. And yes, I do know the Alexander expiring detail, but I am very certain some kind of temporal analomy, Q power, and whatever Harry kim drinks will bring him back to be your first officer.

Thoughts?

I still think we need some way for some boffs to die on away missions, like redshirts that give buffs to your entire team, but have perma death. I love it when I loose a white doff on away missions, but now I just dump all those right into the fleet holdings.

I like Tovan, but my issue is a I have 4 Roms, all of them have the exact some crew, I wish you would have a choice of male or female and then 2-4 voices to choose for each.

If Wesley shows up on my crew and starts talking... if there's no "Shut up, Wesley" button that plays a slap animation I'm not in favor.

If Wesley ever went back to Starfleet he'd be a fellow Admiral by now, considering he'd be 61 years old. Although Wil Wheaton could still play him as that age if he ever agreed to do a cameo.

I could see him taking a long time to get around to that and being a 61 year old acting Ensign.

I know, but he's dead. And Alexander was as annoying as Wesley even in DS9, but come STO and he's the one that fight with you as a good Klingon.

Wil Wheaton has refused to reprise the role of Wesley Crusher in any fashion. He'd be interested in voicing an original character only, according to Geko.

Is everyone forgetting that Wesley Crusher went off with the Caretaker never to be heard from again? Yes I am aware that there is a deleted scene from nemesis where he is sitting next to Dr Crusher at Rikers wedding but that scene was deleted therefore they must have realised "oh wait Wesley went off with the traveller, we dun goofed up duh" XD

Wesley went off with the Traveller, but returned later when he realized that whole "you're a super-special magical warp guy!" was about three steps above "can you help me find my puppy?" as a pedophilic come-on...

Uh, we have Q, we have Kahless, we have Sisko. While the Feds and Roms is trying to fight against borgs and elachis, KDF just storm right into gre'kor (klingon hell) and kicked the butt of actual demons.

Not to mention time dilation (the 2800) allows anything to be possible. ANYTHING.

Because even Wil Wheaton (who is an awesome fellow) hates Wesley.

Not quite as much as I despise Tovan, tho.

While I like the idea of your squadmates... er Boffs having a story, I don't think we need to make them tied to specific pre existing characters, how about we use archetypes for them.

For example apply the "Alexander" archetype to a boff and now their backstory is that they were/are clumsy in battle but are still considered lucky for everyone else.

Instead of a "wesley" archetype, lets do a "jake" archetype as the young crew member, maybe a civilian and not a member of the military. Perhaps s/he can be one of those civilian advisors that got promoted to full away team/bridge crew status, regardless of being a civilian. Maybe they can even have a touch of godlike alien in their family tree so sometimes odd and wondrous things happen. Jake was one quarter prophet, even if it as never mentioned.

Do it more that way instead of bringing in named pre-existing characters.

For the Fed side, I would really love to have Data from TNG for a boff of mine:D

Maybe nothing as hamfisted as Torvan was into the Romulan arc. but I wouldn't mind something akin to what Mass effect had for Shepard, but for your boffs. Have you pick out one or two background bits for them, and have those choices shade the rest of the gameplay. Your Personality choices can affect what your boffs say in certain situations. The Background choice may or may not trigger an optional mission from your boffs.

Add a few VO per race and gender, and we will be set.

Jake sisko was not 1/4 prophet
he was 100% human same as his mother
    (prophets do not exactly breed)
his father was merely a contamination case
And that was only brought in to account for why he could DECK Q

If I were forced to have Wesley as a Boff, I'd take him to the hardest away missions possible with no equipment. Then I'd set his rally point into the middle of a group of enemies and watch the fun begin! After his inevitable death, I'd res him and do it over again. If he had a nice voice over scream or gurgle when he died it'd make it even better!

Wesley and his mother were one of the biggest reasons that I hated and continue to hate TNG. He literally kills the show with every damn episode that he's in, and he'd kill STO too.
