Vulcans, one of the founding fathers of Federation, or perhaps THE founders of Federation are vastly ignored in this game. Sure, there is one Vulcan ship but we already know how it performs, and the stats seems to be so appalling that nobody really bother to man it anymore.
This makes me wonder: why federation players don't ask for Vulcan ships. There is already a desire to see playbale Elachi ships, probably by federation players.
Grinding for MkIV epic gear?
Ain't Nobody Got Time for That
I, for one, would LOVE to see an upgraded version of my Vulcan Science ship as a fleet ship. I loved flying this ship in my first borg STF's, but it is a bit disappointing compared to the others available at lvl 50. Please consider either more Vulcan ships or an updated version for fleets.....or BOTH!

I no, with so many people talking about what playable faction should be next and what kind of ships should be next.
Well...what about the Vulcans, the Vulcans been around in Star Trek sense the 60's:), the next playable faction and next ship line should be all Vulcan. I would love it.
And does anybody remember the end scene of the 2009 Star Trek film where Spock is about to destroy the Romulans? In the scene Spock was flying the Jellyfish ship. it was fast an maneuverable with a rotating tail, that little ship was awesome.
And love to see and fly the Jellyfish ship in game:D

Please read the above concerning everything JJ trek 2009 and later.
But I do support the Surak/Suurok class.
Ah... I forgot all about licensing issues, but hey, a man can dream cant he:)
At this point it seems to me that hollywood and corporate america has taken control of star trek, cuz us players cant enjoy anything from any of the new movies:rolleyes:

The Jellyfish ship might be possible to have in STO, but it would be a pain to animate due to the moving parts. If we have Red Matter Capacitors and the Jellyfish was in the Countdown comics, then it is possible to have the Jellyfish in game. Although, it would probably be used in a mission or as a shuttle due to its size.
When i first started, i loved the look of the Vulkan ship, so i made my character vulkan (even though it screwed up my traits). Then when i got to 50, saw it cost 2k zen, saw the vesta cost 2.5k zen, and was 10 times better, i thought well, TRIBBLE that, i'm going a vesta.
It would be cool to be able to reskin the vesta to look like the vulkan ship.
I think the main reason is that in TNG and DS9 Vulcan were always shown commanding Earth made Starships. There was even the Nebula that was in DS9 that had an all Vulcan crew - played the baseball game against Sisko.

I love my D'kyr, but it can be tricky to run elite stf's in it, sure would be nice to see a fleet version
I so would love to see more vulcan assets added to the game... My main is a vulcan, her entire bridge officers and down the most of the DOFFs as well... Would love to see a fleet D'kir along with more vulcan themed ships, more added to the vulcan social map, uniform/clothing and so on...

animation alone would really punch FPS in the gut. On a more personal note, I really wish cryptic didn't open that can of worms that is the red matter capacitor.
i second to this. no faction, as Vulcans are already members of the UFP,
but there should be STUFF to do on Vulcan
and certainly more Vulcan ships and their fleet versions!
My god, we do have more Andorian/Nausicaan ships than Vulcan ships!!!
And perhaps a Vulcan focused FE would be nice.
I agree, the Vulcan's are already a member of the Federation, so to have a seperate faction...I don't know...
Yet more Vulcan ships would be interesting. My only thought about why they have yet to come out with more, is that Vulcan's are not really warriors at heart, they are scientists, since they focus more on using Logic , rather than emotion.
Hence it would make sense for them not to really have many battle ready ships available to the Federation, encouraging science, Diplomacy and less on allowing an alternative method (fighting) to resolve issues, yet meanwhile having the ability to at least defend the ship , IF attacked. Which the current Vulcan ship is able to do so, with so many science Bridge officer seats available, they can disable an enemy ship or hide from it's sensors, then warp out of the area. Which is something they would do, seeing no logic in destroying an enemy, when they can just escape from them.
(Or at least looking at it from a Vulcan's viewpoint, this is what I see of it).
Having said all that, I do agree also with duaths idea of having more things to do on the Vulcan home planet, such as interacting missions with priests or Diplomats, there. Or perhaps being able to enter a Diplomat Council house or something and do missions there.
Even if the mission is something as small as searching for a missing Vulcan out in the wild and having to face some animals or something.
Also, a good idea, would be to have a "Logic Academy" on there, where you can go through training to become more of a thinker of Logic and resistor of emotions. That I think they could have fun with. Why wouldn't the Vulcan's have such a thing ? It would encourage their logical way of life among those in the Federation whom are interested.
OR even being able to sit in on a class of a Vulcan teaching about the History of their people. That would be cool, especially if they did like a cut video clip scene or something.
Even More exciting, would be to be able to talk to Mr Spock himself !!!
Please add me to the list of people requesting a Fleet Vulcan ship. I actually like my D'Kyr with all its flaws, and would enjoy flying an improved version. In fact, I love to fly the Tal'Kyr in the Atmospheric Assault mission, so an upgraded Tal'Kyr to go with it would be wonderful!
Right now I'm holding out buying a Fleet ship for the sole reason that none are of Vulcan design. If nothing else, it would be nice to have an answer as to whether or not one will be released soon.
While I can agree on the need to add more Vulcan ships and maybe they will in some near future, the logical standpoint would be that because they are a part of the federation they tend to rely on federation to provide military protection. It's kinda like another country today that is allied with let's say the US, while yes they might have a military force they still rely on the US military for it's aid in a lot of matters do to it's size, funding and US diplomatic capabilities.
The Vulcans have no need for a separate, large standing fleet. That's what Starfleet is for. Like the Bajorans, most member worlds probably maintain largely downsized versions of their old military organizations for internal policing/anti-smuggling/anti-piracy duties.
Now, Vulcans building numerous vessels to round out Starfleet's rosters in times of emergencies? That I can see.
And in the current period of STO, there is a big state of emergency going on, from where I'm sitting. So why not have more variety from the member worlds?

Your point is solid, but again this is up to the Dev's as to whether they are going to implement the idea. For now I guess they just either have to join Starfleet and become an officer themselves or start pumping out fleets of their own. And only the first is an option ATM.
I think the D'kyr is gorgeous and the Surak class as a cruiser would be awesome. I definitely think the Devs should introduce it to the game.
We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing all-powerful God, who creates faulty Humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes. - Gene Roddenberry
I agree that Vulcan could be expanded upon, like most planets could be in the game.
I can see a small Vulcan Defense, coast guard like, Fleet in the game. Being of that nature, a Vulcan Fleet would not have any ship in a class, due to its limited role and jurisdiction, to compete with ships in the higher tiers. Its primary area of operation would be in the Vulcan System with primary focus on security, law enforcement, and occasional Romulans. Anything beyond that would probably fall under Star Fleet.
Watching Unification right now I did see that Vulcan had a mercantile fleet.

Yeah...no.
Being a Federation member world in no way precludes a world or entity from maintaining it's own standing military and security forces.
I was under the impression that (at least lore wise) starfleet ships as the space exploration/military wing of the federation are as much vulcan ships as they are earth, andorian, tellarite and so on ships and race specific ships shown after the federation was created are civilian/private vessels of some sort. I assume the descission to have the "earth design" was made to have a unified look and was choosen either randomly or because of impression Archer made with his iconic first deep space Enterprise on other races (except probably thoose poor guys who got their warpcore stolen by him).
If its just about the STO representation of any ships used by SF/KDF/RR captains ingame. Yeah, whatever.
Give me interiors to toy around with, I'm happy with my ship selection on all my chars.

Still have one from the old days when you could buy such ships with 500 ingame emblem marks (ground out on exploration clusters in my Intrepid)
Sucks to see she has never had a re-pass on stats or such since it cameout:(
One mitigating bonus is the free shuttle ( which in turn comes with a noncombat pet too ) !
But yeah, she is/always was oddly understatted and never much loved
