The better question is... How is it not possible?

Even if you stack up four tac consoles, fill all the weapon skills and get 125 power, and would only be around 300 dps maybe.

Unless of course the photo was taken after using Beam Overload.

    The 700 dps displayed.

Ok, um, it's a beam array. It's not supposed to have high dps. I think a better question is, why are you running beams on that escort?
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

Not my escort, otherwise wouldn't be asking about it, better keep it a secret right!

The explanation is simple. It's a new player mistake.

The base dps displayed on a weapon - say on the exchange, or in your bank - is the base DPS rating of the weapon unpowered.

Once you slot the weapon, and adjust your power settings the total may be significantly higher. Especially when you factor in the total amount of energy available to be channeled to that weapon.

To find out the total, hold your mouse over the weapons slot on your HUD, and not on the weapon description.

    For example -

AUX powered Dual Heavy Phaser Cannons unpowered have a base 366 dps.

AUX powered Dual Heavy Phaser Cannons at 125 AUX power have a base 1,188.2 dps.

Only around 250 dps on my disruptor array, got 125 power and 3 tac consoles.

OK, got it, just need to get the display from the weapons slots panel not the ship configuration penal.

I speak the truth, and offer sage advice - see this example here:

Um, noobish question but I always thought that weapon power is the only one that affects DPS. Now I see that AUX power level does the same thing.
So in order for my cannons to perform at their max, without boff abilities and captain alike, I would need to max out my AUX an weapon powers?

EDIT; I just noticed that those are AUX cannons..

Actually it's bang on right as the DPS calculation for beam arrays is "Damage*0.8" so in this case 882.6*0.8=706.08 which the game rounds up to 706.1 DPS.

No, Aux power does NOT affect weapons in any way, shape or form unless they are the Aux cannons from the Vesta. They are special cannons that draw their power from Aux instead of Weapons.

    DPS is affected by :
    Weapon power
    Some Boff/captain traits
a skill that buffs energy weapon damage
boff skills (most tac skills will buff damage)
    critical chance/severity
