No way to train Romulan Bridge officers in Torpedo Spread III?

I like my current BOFFs, I don't want to replace them, but I want torpedo spread III, is there any way to train my Romulan tactical officers in this? I have a jem'hadar boff with it, but no option to train, I also just wasted credits on a Vulcan tact with it, and no option to train. Which is weird because I have a fed science officer that has the option to train my Romulan science boffs in every skill it has.

Try commissioning a common-quality Fed Tac Boff, then attempt to train your Romulan Boffs with the Jem'Hadar Boff.

The Jem'Hadar BOff doesnt work, you need a RR faction BOff to train your RR BOffs... cross faction training apparently isnt allowed, as annoying as that is...

Thanks, that worked, but poor Hiven had to go to make room.

Doesn't Tovan come with TS3? Why would you need to retrain when you get a perfectly good BOff with TS3?
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once. B)

Anyone get a weird alien pop up when Tovan should be on the screen?
Or a BOff from a different toon?

He has Subterfuge and Operative, which makes him pretty handy.

Tovan doesn't have Subterfuge. It's kind of unfortunate that his traits are focused more on ground combat, when he comes with good space abilities. I would have preferred if he had Superior Subterfuge instead of Superior Stubborn, y'know, balance out his traits so he has a superior ground and a superior space.

As it stands, though, he's still a good officer who comes with Torpedo Spread III. Which means no Romulan (assimilated or otherwise), Reman, or Romalien should ever worry about having that skill unless they're stubbornly refusing to use the officer handed to them on a silver platter.

OP, you can train Romulan faction BOFFs using FED or KDF officers bought off of the exchange. I did it myself for a few SCI powers. I think in actuality the system is bugged. Here is how you do it. You need one officer of the allied faction on your ?active? bridge officer duty roster (list.) Then, you need to fill out your active duty roster with officers so no free slot remains. At this point you can buy an officer from your faction ally off of the exchange and use it to train up one of the Romulan Faction officers on your active list.

I bought common FED officers for like 10K credits each to fill up my active roster to accomplish this and then dismissed them once I was done training up officers...

But not superior op, which makes him replaceable.

Why? Maybe because you need more than one BOFF with TS3 (ie, one for cannons and another for beams).... If you cant train a new one you're kinda screwed. Tovan is irrelevant to the problem

TS3 is one of the most highly sought after skills in the game. Soon(tm) there will be Doff missions to evaluate Romulan Boffs, this should increase the supply of TS3 boffs of the Romulan faction.

Tovan has also CRF III which is a very nice skill, but a waste when you are using beams. If that is the case you don't want him in the commander slot.

I want my T'Varo fly with beams and also a good torpedo skill. It has a tac commander slot and a tac ensign.

These limitations on training are a drag in general. I have no problem that ships have their specific Boff layout, but don't make it a puzzle to make a setup.

Also what is against it to use a low rank abillity in a high rank slot? So we can make a tactical officer with tac team I, TS II, CRF II and THY II ? I see more options, more variations and nothing disbalancing.

Is there some random factor about Tovan's skills? Because I did two Roms on Tribble, and one Fed-aligned and one KDF-aligned on Holodeck, and their Tovans have always gotten Fire at Will, not Cannon Rapid Fire. (Which suits me - I like to use beams so I don't always have to be head-on to my target, and with Fire At Will I can be surrounded and shoot at everybody.)

I just checked him, he has CRF III. His skills as he comes are, THY I, FAW, TS III and CRF III.

Ah, that explains it. I've only paid attention to his first three so far. So, he comes with all the cool ship tactical skills! :)

He doesn't have subterfuge and he only has basic operative. He's really not that great for space combat.

True but he has a nice skill load-out especially if your captain is non-tactical now if I could just find his and Kurland's Mute button i'd be happy. :P

A fleet mate of mine found a ferengi tac with torp spread 3, bought and sent to me. Stole that ability for my Prime Tac boff.

Im having issues with this too. I bought a federation (ferengi) tactical officer candidate who has torpedo spread 3, but I get no option to use that candidate to 'train' my other bridge officers.

Instead, I would be forced to commission the ferengi and have him among my crew in order to use the ability, there's no way in hell that's going to happen.

Just get another ferengi tac boff and commission him, then it'll enable you to train your other boffs with that ferengi one you've bought. Once you've done that, get rid of the other one.

    Bosh, job done.
