So, I'm not sure how many of you have watched all of Enterprise, but the NX was capable of atmospheric flight. Now that we have a mission where we fly in the atmosphere, I was thinking maybe we could have the NX as an option for that mission. It has 1 more weapon slot than the Danube, though it does get 2 BOff's more.
So, what do you guys think on such an idea. I think it would be pretty fun. Plus, an NX could probably be carried by an Odyssey, lol.

all ships are capable of atmospheric flight, in fact many ships have saucer seperation, for the purpose of landing on planets. The real problem is deciding which ships can and can not enter. Right now it's based on small ship and large ship, which the NX is apart of. Also the others that would work just as well would be:
Defiant
Voyager/Intrepid
B'rel Bird of Prey
escorts in general.
Imperial Secret Order. "we are the ones that maintain the balance of power in the universe. May our shadow never fall upon you."
That's true. I think the Defiant, and B'rel would be perfect candidates. I was thinking more along the lines of what's in the game already that would work without changes.
The NX is a T1 ship. It's small(ish) and only a little more capable than a Danube.
I believe the B'rel is also T1? That would be an equivalent idea. Though, I'm not actually sure about the BoP's for the Romulans.

Well, even the TOS Enterprise was supposed to be able to do an atmospheric flight and landing, but it would be too costly to make so they made the transporters.
Spoiler Alert!!
If JJ Enterprise can do some swims why cant TOS Enterprise dont?
End spoiler
That would give some use to the constitution on VA level

It couldn't land due to budgets, but it did fly through atmospheres in "Tomorrow is Yesterday".
The problem is shuttles and main ships are pretty different power-wise. I did see an idea to let the Aquarius be used as a small craft, but the difference is that the Aquarius is terrible as a main ship, so it might as well be a really good small one.

That's true, though T1 ships are pretty useless at the end of the game. The NX, TOS Connie, and Miranda all seem like ships that would be ok to use in this context, though I think the NX would be the closest size wise.
Plus, the Danube is more small starship than large shuttle.

Supposedly, so is the Vesta and Defiant classes.
