I finally, after three years, have enough C-store Zen to purchase a ship. I keep looking at the Mogai Heavy Warbird Retrofit, because of the turn rate and the 4 Fore weapons banks. But, I would really like some advice if there is another Romulan ship that would be better for my wants. Turn rate is pretty much the chief deciding factor, but i'll take any advice from respectful STO players.
I have the Legacy pack and love all the ships, my favorites now are the D'Deridex and Mogai retrofits. I recomend the Mogai unless you have lots of experience using slow turn ships or enough patience to learn one then maybe try the D'Deridex. Mogai is much tankier then the other escorts like T'Varo and Dhelan and has almost as much turn and firepower, one of the best all around escorts in the game.
T'varo can also be fun with its enhanced battle cloak. It is a lot better than the B'Rel that's for sure.
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
It has taken you a long time and patience to save up so much Zen, so dont rush things now, you may regret it.
I would wait at least until the end of june (until the announcement regarding the Scimitar is done) with the desicion which ship to buy . It would be a shame if you use up your savings from a few years now for a Mogai or Ha'feh only to learn later this month that your money could buy you a scimitar in the next few month.
the fleet ha'feh is the best tac ship, but you'll do just as good with the mirror universe version (available from the exchange for 4 millions EC)
the mogai is the most stylish ship
the D'D is the iconic ship (fleet version needs T5 shipyard)
the T'Varo is a PVP ship and it only requires a T1 shipyard
the ha'nom is a sci ship (i think), the only one with a cmdr sci slot
best advice - let's wait for the ships cryptic plans on releasing in 3-4 weeks, use the money to buy new toon slots, make yourself some klingon toons, farm some Dill in the meantime, change to Zen..
Mogai Heavy Warbird Retrofit is awesome. I got it together with the Valdore to complete Ionized Particle Beam (from Mogai Heavy) + Shield Absorptive Frequency Generator (from Valdore) - these two consoles enough for me to take on STF and not get 1-shotted by the Borg cube while providing better than average DPS.
I have the Legacy pack, and tried all of the ships it contains.
The T'Varo retrofit, hands down, is the most fun to me ... and I've hated escorts since launch.
T'Varo* is THE ONE for me, the "most fun" of all ships in game. That's how much i like it.
*Disclaimer: This ship may produce great doses of speed, violence and a big number of explosions in a very short period of time when properly flown and rigged. People with high blood pressure or cardiovascular problems should not use this ship. Caution must be taken while using this ship, might produce addiction, do not alter the flying time and procedures prescribed by your Fleet Admiral. Do not drive a fast car after flying this ship, you will get a speed violation sanction and Cryptic/PWE may not be held responsible for it and will not pay it. The DPS action of this ship can be seriously affected by the use of beam weapons and tanking tactics, player is advised not to use beam weapons and not to tank borg gates and tac cubes while flying this ship. This ship must be kept away from reach and view of children at all times.

No it doesn't. My fleet has a tier 4 shipyard and I was able to buy fleet D'D.
