Lots of people using plasma torps, which are AOE and make large frags into small frags as soon as they launch, and people using scatter volly breaking up the Large frags also.
The small frags seem to have ridiculous defense, with acc2's and accurate trait I miss them a lot, so I cant mop them up.
also cant seem to get within 10km of it without being shot at, and every shot takes me for 20% or more of my health. The CE shots fire off like pulses, there doesent seem to be any window to get the damage in.
I really dont know how to do CE Elite, maybe I am missing something.
Played it last night, seems like a good challenge. cant really say if i was on a great team or an average one but we got it done without too much hassle.
there are still some bugs. every now and then a tholian ship seems almost invincible. seems to affect both normal and elite.
Odd, I can beat Hive Onslaught elite even with optional, yet even CE normal fails me.
Really? CE doesn't have a fail condition. And bugs notwithstanding its not supposed to super-heal itself like the old CE did, no matter what the players do. I've never failed a single one, with any toon.
It's just a dumb damage sponge. Except for the absorption phases, it doesn't really do anything but sit there and exchange fire with the player fleet. Players have infinite respawns, it doesn't. Eventually it will run out of HP.
I suppose if you're unlucky enough to get a team that shoots at the tholians and fragments instead of the entity and/or clueless newbies in rainbow cruisers...it is possible its hull regen exceeds damage input. Never had that happen to me yet, though.
I just made the maths. Just to have enough marks for the reputation to reach rank 5, and nothing else, you'll need :
Nukara rep : 39 eCE (38.15), or 62 (61.04) perfect azure nebula rescue (top score everytime)
Omega rep, with an average 80marks/run ISE : 20 ISE (19.07)
Romulan rep : 4elder eppoh (3.28)
That's it, almost double eSTF for Nukara compared to Omega, and it's a more difficult and longer STF than ISE.
And that's JUST for the reputation rank, then you will need to grind even more for the goodies, and considering you need 1526marks to reach rank 5, and 1K/MK XII item, it's a crazy grind.
Now, I don't know about you, but I don't plan to do 39eCE per character for the rank, then another 90-180 for the items. I'll wait for the next Q wonderland or summerland, or whatever.
with DPS group we did that CEE in no time ...
about HSE its not that bad .. but when you are starting to die 20Km away from those big ships and get shot buy some kinda green particle bursts witch does ~250k dmg .. its just awful

I failed one normal before they fixed Elite, then stopped bothering [haven't since]. My theory was that normal had far fewer people that knew what they were doing in the queue [more skilled went to Elite, or were leveling their Rommies].
Fail should be said got stuck on third phase with not being able to outpace the hps from failing to stop the small crystal shards.
Of course, now that I'd gone and said I hadn't seen one, the very next CEE I did ended up in such an incapable team. Queued, got into an instance already in progress around at 60-70% health, it went down to 30% then I noticed it wasn't going down anymore...because only me and maybe 2 others were shooting it. There was a couple AFKers and a bunch of guys off to the side shooting tholians, probably some missing people who'd already quit...eventually had to quit myself when I ran out of repair components and started accumulating too much injuries.
Then I healed, re-stocked components, queued again and the next one went down as smoothly as always.
Seriously, people. The Tholians are a distraction. Ignore them. Shoot the entity!
The fragments don't heal it, they give it a damage buff. It only has slow innate regeneration. It's not enough to overcome the firepower of 10 people. Just barely enough to overcome 3.
My hints for elite:
1. Shoot the entity! Not the Tholians, not the fragments, the entity.
2. Bring at least one of the science boff abilities that remove the fragment buffs (tachyon beam, tykens rift, charged particle burst or energy siphon). Don't expect others to do it for you unless you're in a premade team and have asked the others if they have some. Every small fragment gives it +2% damage and they can stack extremely high.
3. Bring repair components. You will die.
4. You can use scatter volley, repulsors etc to defend yourself from large fragments without ceasing fire on the entity.
5. The shockwave attack on elite will kill you. Get out of range (>10km) when it starts an absorption phase. Absorption phases occur at 66% and 33% health.
6. Shoot the entity, seriously. I mean it.

The Elite version of EC is a nice challenge but the way you have to work to take it down is not really pug friendly.
I'm hoping that they'll be an Elite CE Channel created to find players that understand how to take it down.
I went 1 for 4 on CE Elite last night and from what I can tell if you're in group or instance that has a bunch of Carriers then you might want to leave at the start. (I like Carriers so this sucks)
It seems like the Large Crystal Shards lock in on the Hanger Support and will keep healing the Entity faster than you can damage it.
Gravity Well is a blessing here has it will pull and hold the large shards but it seems to do nothing to the small shards.
You really need at least 3 cleaners to run around the entity and take out the Large and small shards so the entity gets no health.
Distance is your friend with the CE now, all the runs that I wiped on last night had players camping within 6k of the Entity and at that distance the shards are much harder to avoid and they hit you can travel back to the CE to heal it very fast.
The Entity's beam attack is hella strong now and the trick that I've been using to try to avoid getting hit to much by them is to deploy and Acton Assimilator @ about 8k from the CE and then reverse engines till I'm about 9k just behind the Assimilator so that it will take some of the blast the CE is sending my way.
All in all the Elite CE is great but if you are pugging you have to remember that it only takes one player to turn what should be a 20 minute run into 45 minute waste of time.

Still, 40 marks and 480 dil seems kinda...low for what is essentially an elite STF. Why isn't it 60 and 960, it's definitely harder than ISE?
