I am currently an avid lover of escort / destroyer style vessels, with my tactical and primary character.
Currently I am using the Breen warship that became available during the last winter event to great effect, however I am wondering if there is currently something better out there.
I have currently been saving for a Jem Hadar attack ship as I have been told that they are pretty much the best you can get when it comes to high damage and high maneuverability in such a tiny ship. However with the recent expansion they released the Tal'Shiar adapted destroyer, and it looks to be very powerful and much more within my current price range than the jem hadar attack ship. so I am hoping someone out there has done a detailed comparison between the two and perhaps even has both and can tell me which is simply the superior ship when it comes to putting out damage and being able to survive long enough in solo and STF mission style combat to dish out the damage longer.
any and all information to assist in the comparison of these two fine ships would be greatly appreciated.
after doing a couple of test runs with my adapted destroyer, I can confirm it does the job, it is fast and manourverable, has very good survivability, and can hold its own against the borg for a short time, its a great supporting attack ship. I will add that my gear isnt the greatest yet and its still performing better than my other equivalent romulan ship, and I use a generic weapons load to give me a good mix of damage and fire arcs. Alas however I have never been lucky enough to own a jem hadar fighter, but I would guess from my experience of my destroyer that they will be closely matched given the same gear. I will add that the borg modifications remove both battle cloak and singularity abilities, they do however replace it with super quick engines, and an excellent hull repair which works well, as my ship has survived even suicidal assaults on enemy capital ships and cruisers.
hope this helps.

First let me say I have the ships in question (different characters, and never opened my breen). If you've had the pleasure of flying the tal shiar destroyer, but not the jem hadar attack ship, you would be shocked at how fast the attack ship turns. There really is no ship with better turning. Console wise, its mostly tactical consoles and engineering consoles, great for damage and damage resistance, with i believe only one science console. Being an escort, its not necssarily easy to survive heavy damage, and thats where bridge officer slots come into play. The jem hadar attack ship, being more tactical focused, is a bit short on good heals, but is heavy on tactical abiltiies/attacks. If you are wealthy enough to get the other jem hadar ships (the two carriers) then you can use the special consoles and it becomes even better.
So what about the destroyer?
Its also strongly geared towards tactical abilities, but does include a universal position or two which is nice. 1 less tactical console and engineering console, which goes to science. The loss of a tactical console is countered by the fact that this ship has sensor analysis which after a time boosts damage to your target up to 33.3%. Comes with the shrapnal torpedos which some people are not happy with, because of its minor damage vs shielded targets and long cooldown. Its about a 4min cooldown, and while its true its weak vs shields, unshielded targets take plenty of damage, and this ability can be boosted by your tactical damage boosting abilities (tactical team, attack pattern alpha, omega etc). Not very effective vs multiple targets though, as the torpedos spread out the attack and damage to all ships within degree range. Also comes with the adapted warp core which features bonus aux power, and 7.5% of aux power goes to weapons power as free bonus. Also allows super fast sector space speed. When you use the console torpedo and the warp core together, the ship has improved hull regernation. When you use the console from the other adapted ship as well, all your agrresive science attacks (besides warp plasma for example) does additional damage by throwing a radiation cloud on your enemy. I use tractor beams, so now my tractor also adds a radiation cloud. the cluods damage is based on aux level.
SO! Jem Hadar vs Tal Shiar.
I'd be inclined to give it to the jem hadar, for the super turn rate, and extra tactical and engineering console. Yes sensor analaysis can become more powerful then 1 tactical console, but can also be avoided by jaming sensors occsionally which resets the stacks of sensor analysis. Also while the Tal Shiar adaped borg warp core is decent, there ARE somewhat better warp cores avaliable, and the speed bonus can still be obtained by using the borg set, or another extra fast engines like the maco. That being said, its definetly a better warp core then any other ship comes with stock. All this being said, for the price point the Tal Shiar is probably a better deal. You could likely get both Tal Shiar ships for the price of the Jem Hadar attack ship.
I have the Jem Bug, and it really pours on the pain. I will have to look at the Romulan stats when I get home to make a comparasion.I would reccomend the Bug ship to anyone with a Tac, and the means of getting one.
For pvp the bug, no contest. For pve the destroyer can get by pretty good as even though it has bad turn for an escort (11), it won't matter so much, and you break sensor analysys much less in pve. I still prefer the Bugship boff layout for both, but thats just preference, if you can make the destroyer boff layout work for your build and just planning on pve it should be a good option. I haven't seen any destroyers do good in pvp yet though, so you may want to hold off an save for the bug if thats what you are using it for.
PvP where super-burst damage and evasion mean more then stand your ground and shoot, I'd go with the bugship. There isn't much, if anything, that is near in this regard. The shard torps are great, but they can be shot down, so they're not always going to be effective.
PvE, they're almost two different ships. The Destroyer is more Science leaning, with its auxiliary boosting warp core and a LCdr Science Slot. The Bug is a tactical ship through and through. The Destroyer you're going to get a bit more survivability when you just sit and gun in STFs without moving. The Bug Ship is going to pour more dps down.
The Tal shiar adapted destroyer is very similar the Breen ship.
Imo the Jem'hadar attack ship is still the best escort in game.
escorts should do damage and defiants with emabassy crtH boffs or andorian escorts are better at that dps than the bug ship.Yes you can put a third tac boff on the bug but it will be way more useless than a defiant or a andorian escort.

as everyone is doing spike damage after decloak defiant is better for pvp ,at least if you pug in cnh
i don't think the bug can or should be compared to the tal shiar destroyer...2 very different type of ships.
however, if you enjoyed the breen ship, as do i, the adapted destroyer is imho a step up atleast for pve.
cloak, sensor analasys (idk if that actually stacks up while cloaked...that would be OP)
i'd personally set it up like a MVAE, even get a BO2 or 3 for decloaking mayhem
i hear the shrapnel torpedo console is TRIBBLE, can anybody confirm or disprove that?
i suggest you wait 1 month until you buy an adapted destroyer, they will surely drop another 10-15 million.
Boff stations of a patroll escort.
Console layout of a defiant.
Hull and shields of a fleet patroll.
And battle cloak.(if thats something you like.)
yeah statwise a real beast...that said, it is monstrous! I know beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, but lets be honest, it is a winged TRIBBLE.
srsly, one massive winged TRIBBLE...yet no considerable penalty for being big as a carrier.
turnrate of 16?
So romulans must have a revolutionary new sublight propolsion system, yet they ignore to upgrade other massive ships with it.
this ship should have a turnrate of 10 or 11 at most
the valdore should have had this setup...or some other smaller escort design.

It's not even close to being as nice to fly as the bug though, I've got one and use it on my rom.
It's huge, the inertia is strangely high for something with such a high turn rate, it's ugly as sin and a bit of a handfull to fly.
It's so big it really distorts the perspective when you're flying it, I tend to play quite far zoomed out - and with this ship I keep noticing my cannons aren't firing even though I'm in the firing arc.
Then I zoom right in, and it's 40 degrees to my right and 5km below me - not immediately in front like I thought it was. Never had an issue with a ship or piloting like this yet, it probably just takes some getting used to.
I'll tell you though, nothing beats the JHAS for pure flying fun, 'cept maybe a shuttle.
If you have the EC to burn, grab the time ships. Wells for the console and Mobius to fly. Tanky, fast (with hyper impulse engines), versatile, and super powerful especially if you have the lobi for the Temporal Warfare set.
I prefer the mobius to everything so far mentioned in the thread - save the JHAS since I don't own one and can't say.
Good luck with whatever your choice may be, Cheers!
My guess is "hope" keeps people not playing but posting on the forums. For others, its a path of sad realization and closure. Grieving takes time. The worst "haters" here love the game, or did at some point.
I like the JHAS so much I have two, one on each faction, with differing gear/skill layouts. Similar boff layout to a patrol escort (with the flexibility of some universal stations), the damage of a fleet tac retrofit, the hull of a cruiser, best shield mod of any escort I've seen, and the turn rate of a BoP. While the Andorian escorts , with their 5/2 layout, may have a slight raw DPS edge, they're not as durable or maneuverable.
Depends how you want to fly, i have both vessels and i can say both are excellent. If you want a fast, dependable dmg dealing beast then i would say the JHAS wins of the two, with right skill/boff/console setup it is amazing beyond amazing.
On the other hand if you want to mix things up a bit the Adapted Destroyer is nice, i use it with both consoles and enjoy that ship is well. They are both equally fun.
For overall dmg potential and quickest movement I would give the edge to the JHAS.
For more of a support dps ship that has some science tricks in it I would give the edge to the adapted destroyer. Each ship has ENTIRELY different setups and are flown differently.
Now as to which one I fly more....currently the adapted destroyer but if my fleet needs some serious pain given in fleet mark events i fly my JHAS.
First borg have never used cannons or beam rays.. They USE TORPS... TORPS AND CUTTING BEAMS... SO back the to subject for all the people that are off the SUBJECT... THE BORG TAKE TEC FROM OTHER SPIECES.. Front row it Romunan plasma Torp (1). Borg omega torp (1). Tal shiar Torp (1). Nukara tecyron beam. back row is borg cutting beam (1) romulan plasma beam ray (1) nukara web mine. you use the consoles to make sets. The space set for sh/En/DF is borg assimulated or romulan. This is how you play borG. you cloak and uncloak to fire your anti-shield weapons. Then you fire off what torps you want to use. YOU HAVE CHIOCES.. IF you want to play being a none borg then build a silly beam boat that everyone has..

There's a new contender for fun... try the fleet T'varo, 18 degrees turn, nice boffs layout and battle cloak
