"Balance of Terror" Torpedo

Watching the big red nuke zero in on it's target and seeing it get blown to smithereens is something I might never get tired of! It's a thing of beauty!

Thank you guys for that! :D
Thanks for the expansion that had "as much content as the last"
9 Episodes = 30+ episodes...?

It's pronounced "S.T.O." "Stow" sounds idiotic! lol

It is the LOLz torpedo. I even use it to harass players in PvP. Nicely done Cryptic.

I find this line of replies sadly hilarious. We put a lot of work into the massive list of fixes/changes above, and ya'll are hung up on the ability to skip our content. =p

It's nice, but unreliable. Mainly due to a bug that concerns it and the use of Attack Pattern Omega.

Firing the torpedo to see it going at inconsistently -slower- speeds or just outright stall is really frustrating. However, on occasion, it does work out rather brilliantly.

I have done 40k hits on bare hull with it all the time(no torp boosting consoles) - however - it is very dangerous to use in the T'Varo.

I have blown myself up at least 20 times firing it with EBC with my shields down.

If it hits ANYTHING in its path to target - a shard, a mine, whatever - it explodes!! If you are still in the 2.5km AOE - you are toast.

It is extremely irritating to launch it and 3 seconds later you blow up. It's suicide in tight PvP and CE with lots of shards around.

Does not do much dmg on a shielded target so if you have shields it should be ok.

The trick is to hang back at 4 - 5KM. Speed up to just over 3KM and fire. Hit evasive maneuvers and run like hell. Most likely they won't have time to "pop" it in your face.

Of course I fly enhanced bc with all power diverted to aux and engines. Combine it with attack patterns and you can do some amazing damage in PvE if you strip the shields first. In PvP it is mostly for fun or as a distraction.

In STF it is awesome against unshielded targets like Gens/Trans/Gates with nothing in the way.

In PvP these days there is just way to much mine spam that you can't see - it's very situational if you don't want to die by it's blast.

I haven't tried PvE yet. If that's case I wonder how long it will take for Cryptic to nerf it to oblivion. :( Can't let the kiddies get those marks too fast.

I've got this torp on my Fleet Light Warbird and love it. All we need now is the "Oh ****" scene playing out on the enemy bridge, just like Balance of Terror. :D

I have it on my fleet warbird as well, and its fun as hell. Especially when you have nothing better to do with your time but to go to the borg pvp zone and blow up lieutenants that have no business being there.

I have noticed that it'll occasionally stall out and just sit there, but it's fun when it works! I blew myself to bits once, but I took out two enemy escorts in the process lol
