Why wouldn't you be able to? There are fleets out there that are all one race despite being either "Starfleet" or "KDF" fleets. Whoever owns the fleet gets to decide who joins, so if you only wanted to invite Romulans and Remans, you could.

Not at this time, it has to be either FED or KDF.

Just any rommie or reman must be of the same alliance as you ( kdf/fed ), do you really want to grind a new starbase tho!?

The thing is, well, hard to describe. You see, we arent you.. What i mean by that is that we are not Klingons, or humans or aliens.
We all invest parts of ourselves into our toons. Regardless of their played personalities, those toons cant be anything but reflections of parts of us. But we arent Klingon, and we arent federation. We're Romulan..

If I visit the Zen store, There are pages upon pages of ships for the Federation, sadly there are only a couple pages of ships fir the Klingons, but the Romulans have one half of a page. Having both Fed and Klingon Characters, I can affirm that the federation characters have a ton more clothing options than anyone else ( and it is all visible ). The Klingons have far fewer options for clothing than does the federation, and the discussions as to whats wrong with the armor and comm badges are nearly legendary. The romulans get three options. You can look like a refugee from firefly, or you can look like a militaristic refugee from firefly or after a certain point, you can look like cryptics version of the Tal Shiar. and the armor doesnt work for them either..

But worst of all, The federation has an identity. The Klingons Have an identity, They both have a central theme that reflects their unique society. Oh and frankly, Klingons have the best starbases in the game.. Frikkin outstanding places.. Romulans have none of that. We are told we have to be either fed or klingon which we arent, but we have to be. We take orders from the Feds and klingons, not the romulans, and we do the same standard fed and klingon missions to progress through our story, being referred to as either feds or klingons as fits the story line. Sometimes we get called both in the same mission, regardless of which side we serve. We are not allowed an identity. We are forced to be something else. Something that we arent. Like forcing all of you to live in back yards and bark like dogs, or force the boys into being housekeepers and secretaries while the girls are forced into road work, construction and drunken brawls. Yes, this is extreme, but ive never been very good with subtleties anyway.. Still it highlights the situation.
Having a pure romulan fleet would be a shot in the arm for all folks that play romulans, as right now, we're are nothing more than and have nothing more than a slightly more complex stick figure we move about on the screen which is constantly reffered too as either federation or klingon.

For Fed lovers and Klingons, this is no big deal. They cannot perceive why anyone would not want to be like them. But then, thats human nature for any group of people; even the Romulans. We really need our own fleet as in this game the fleets are the basis for each society.

you can get 4 other romulans that have the same alliance as you and create a fleet. you can then only invite romulan characters to that fleet.

you will have to be in a starbase of fed/kdf design, at least for the moment, but you can be an all romulan group of players if you wish.

Thats exactly correct. We can only form a state approved single sided fleet of either KDF or Fed. That isnt Romulan...

I dont want to live in your state approved starbase. I dont want to be restricted from freely associating with any but state approved members of your state controlled faction. no we cannot escape state approved, but we like the Feds and Klingons deserve a Romulan specific non allied fleet. As it is, we arent even a faction. We are dolls running around and are either fed or klingon.. We have no identity. We have no culture either in game nor here in the forums. Personally, its making me pissed.. At least the part where everyone says that we should cow tow to being ither a fed or klink and be happy with it.. The feds and klinks never had to settle with being happy with anything ( and there are several thousands of posts highlighting that exact scentiment as the klinks also had to fight tooth and nail for every small piece of everything they have except identity ).
We deserve to be at least at the most basic levels able to stand equally with the two factions that currently exist in the game; As Romulans, sovereign and independent from the rest. its what the others have and it isnt so much too ask.

::EDIT:: Let me give an example to simplify things here.. apologies for real life references.

The united States is allied with several countries from around the world and they with the US. But the US does not take its orders from those countries nor do those countries take their orders from the US. Nor do any of those forces or countries occupy enforced housing provided by the other countries..

Allied does not mean being subject too. It means, you get in trouble, i give aid ( not instruction ). You need a place to gather, you build it, not me. it is Yours, not mine.. It is Federation or Klingon or Romulan, not federation or Klingon..

    I approve of this.

I would join a real Romulan fleet. And to throw in a bone i'd even pass on the starbase for the time being.

Don't get me wrong, the expac is done fairly nice. But to me it doesn't feel Romulan. I'm glad i'm not the only one in that camp.

I'm not a statesman. I'm just an old soldier, but we Romulans have to stand together on this regardless of who we chose as allies/masters. We are Romulans and we are not any of the others.. If we do not stand together to become an integral entity within this game/world, then we are doomed to be little more than a money generating group of puppets, no different than the Gorn or Tholians. They call us a faction but do not allow us to actually be that faction. We wear the identities of the federation or the klingons. We deserve our own.
I am happy that Cryptic has been able to generate a financial income from this addon, but i believe that we as players should have more than a brow ridge, and a fancy ship.

Those fleets begin here, in these forums with Romulans standing as Romulans and not federation or klingon. Even if we do not garner recognition from the federation or klingon members of this community, it is imperative that we stand by and support each other.
