I would spend 500 zen gladly to have the option to have my first officer fill the pet slot and beam to star base with me rather than have some pointless horta or white monkey following me around unless of course I have a white monkey as a first officer and I am captain Micheal of the one white glove fleet.
Who among us would not enjoy being able to be followed around by a red shirt or our own version of spock .
We have a pet slot for social areas let us buy an expansion that allows a crew man to fill that slot
Hey PWE there is a revenue winner for you thats already coded into the game and will make you nice clean non gamble box profit.
Actually, I think this tech exists. Some missions have your officer(s) appear as a form of pet, but not a controllable Boff. Example: there is a mission you do as a Romulan where you beam to a staiton with Tokan Khev, but he is not controllable.

Sounds like a neat idea! They'd have to work around having a duplicate first officer when you beam to a PvE area, though.
Unless, instead of a first officer, you got a "yeoman" slot that essentially let you create a non functional b/o to follow you around.
Also, it would be nice if they revamped pets so they didn't take up inventory space, and did not need to be resummoned when switching zones.
if it used the coding for a non combat pet slot it would workwell would not matter if you had a 5th officer beam down in PVE if he did not participate in combat .....as he was in anon combat pet slot
