Hull material type 5?

monkeybone13monkeybone13 Member Posts: 4,640 Arc User
I've never seen hull material type 5. Some time back I purchased the Exploration Cruiser Retrofit (the one with saucer separation) then later bought the Refit version (the Venture class) so I could have the Venture skin on my Retrofit. And later purchased the Heavy Escort Carrier.

For the Venture class, and also my Heavy Escort Carrier (Armitage skin), I see hull material types 1-4 and type 6. Type 6 is pretty much a white hull and only available on certain ship classes.

But I have never seen a hull material type 5 on any ship. Does it exist? If so, which ships have it and what does it look like? It's probably on a specific ship or ships that I don't own. Just curious.

Type 5, I think, is the 900 day veteran skin.

The Veteran skin is simply called "Veteran". As far as i'm aware, there is no "Type 5" skin.

I hear there is a hull skin for Fleet ships that non-fleet ships can't use. It is not the same as the 2409 skin, nor the 900-day skin, as far as I understand. Maybe it is the Type 5?

The Fleet material is simply named "Fleet"

And I dunno about anyone else, but when I bought my FTER, I was able to use the Fleet material on my other ships (including both my TE Refit and Retrofit). Haven't tried it on, say, the free (non-Fleet) Odyssey or Ambassador ships though.

My train of thought is that the type 5 isn't actually called the type 5, rather it goes by a different name. Of course the people that could answer this conundrum are probably all in bed, or at least they should be so they can start fresh on Monday to go hunt bugs. :P

Weird. If there is no hull material labeled as "Type 5" then why didn't they just label type 6 as type 5? Are they superstitious about the number 5 or something? lol

Perhaps what is actually type 5 is the fleet, veteran, or other special, material but they named it as such to indicate what it is instead of naming it type 5.

I never understood why numbers are skipped over like that.
