Catch the command ship when it's off to the side and don't give it time to regen because it doesn't take long to lose progress. If you can get a couple allied ships to join in it's over fairly quickly.

Yes it's hard and also very very easy to adapt and beat
Tet weapons are your friend here after playing for over two hours to complete in realised I need to get past the constant regeneration of shields so out fitted with Tet weapons and boom it went
So please don't anyone say it's not beatable as it is
Each time I died, it was after I managed to take out at least one of those third-wave ships; my victory was inevitable. And it's not like there's a penalty for dying and respawning.
Now, "Forging Bonds", in the Cardassian storyline - that one's kicking my tailfeathers.

When? If it was in the past couple days, then that's not surprising, because of the fix.
